About

CATFISH AND THE BOTTLEMEN IN CONCERT:

U.K. indie rockers Catfish and the Bottlemen are on the rise thanks to their blend of passionate songwriting, memorable melodies, and sonic exploration. In concert lead singer and guitarist Van McCann bares his soul with his yearning vocals on instant classics like “Homesick”, “Cocoon”, and “Kathleen”. The rest of the band stirs up a post-punk-inspired sonic cocktail, using echoing guitar feedback, driving bass melodies, and pulsating drum beats to give each song a vibrant undercurrent. Ticket buyers can’t help but join in on the energetic alternative anthems that Catfish and the Bottlemen bring to the stage whenever they go on tour.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Van McCann was born in Cheshire, England in 1992, though he was raised in Llandudno, Wales. He formed Catfish and the Bottlemen in 2007 with high school friends Billy Bibby (guitar) and Benji Blakeway (bass), and began performing in parking lots after shows by bands like Kasabian. After adding drummer Bob Hall, the group generated considerable buzz in 2013 with the independent release of the singles “Homesick”, “Rango”, and “Pacifier”. They spent the following year turning in impressive performances at festivals like Reading & Leeds, T in the Park, and Governors Ball. The rigorous touring ultimately paid off when their 2014 debut full-length The Balcony peaked at No. 10 on the UK albums chart before being certified Gold later that year. With fans already buzzing about their follow-up album, Catfish and the Bottlemen continue to give impassioned performances to audiences around the world as they build on their sterling reputation.

    Obsessed.

by hannah on 10/2/19The Anthem - Washington

This was my first time at the Anthem venue and I was NOT disappointed. The sound quality was amazing no matter where you stood— with a general admission ticket I had my choice of being on the main floor or the upper levels behind the seating. I chose the latter and was able to get an amazing view of the entire venue, grab a drink only a few feet behind me, and have plenty of room to dance and enjoy the music. I’ll definitely be scouring the venue’s website just to find another excuse to come back. Love the location. Catfish and the Bottlemen were incredible as always!! 🤗

Very nice venue and area. Will attend again

    by B. D. on 10/2/19The Anthem - Washington

Catfish and Bottlemen are worth seeing. Traditional rock band with new spin. Talk July opened for them and are a unique sounding rock band with a hard driving sound. Very nice venue and is a must to do while in DC.

I have followed Catfish and the Bottlemen all over the east coast so far and let me tell you the show never fails to impress. The energy is radiating in all aspects of the show and throughout the venue, the band makes the effort to include fans, and the music is phenomenal.

It felt so incredible to finally be able to see them live! I’ve been wanting to see them for about 4 years now and I finally did! Their stage presence is so amazing and it felt so good to be in a space where everyone was jumping and singing along.

    Another Great Show!!!

by JCK on 9/29/19Manhattan Center Hammerstein Ballroom - New York

I really enjoyed the show. This concert performance seemed a little more polished/professional than the previous one I saw. There was definitely great sound quality and plenty of volume. I had two very minor dissappointments: I would have liked to have seen a 2 song encore instead of 1, and I don't believe there was an audience sing-along ballad which I always enjoy.

Catfish and the Bottlemen are the best

by Keene for Post on 9/29/19Manhattan Center Hammerstein Ballroom - New York

Catfish and the Bottlemen are an outstanding rock band with a great sound and lyrics that draw you into their experience. Having seen them outdoors, in an old warehouse that is now a music venue, and now at the old Hammerstein Ballroom in NYC, I have to say the Hammerstein was the best so far. Having been on the floor, I took a balcony seat so I could really see them play. They have a great energy that comes through in their sound; but it's even that much better when you can see them. I've seen a lot of bands over the years and I actually can say I like every single song I've heard from this band. I sat with others in the balcony who I didn't know and we all said to each other that we'd seen them before from the floor and we were all thrilled with our decision to watch from the balcony this time. These guys are simply the best!

    Amazing performance!

by Kevin on 9/29/19Manhattan Center Hammerstein Ballroom - New York

Catfish and the bottlemen are incredibly talented live. They played most of my favorite songs and really kept the place alive. Played an extra song after we begged for one so that was pretty cool too.

    Good show

by I. M. on 9/29/19Manhattan Center Hammerstein Ballroom - New York

The line situation was terrible. Security needs to honor the number system and give fans who arrived earlier priority. Better crowd control as people were being squished and shoved dangerously.

Our first time seeing them in concert and we had a blast!

by icegirl on 9/27/19The Ritz - Raleigh

It was a perfect balance of older songs and new with them playing my favorite as the last song. It was actually so much better than I expected.

Great Kick Off to Summer Concerts

by Maddy on 6/30/19STAGE AE - Pittsburgh

It's not very often that I say this but Catfish and the Bottlemen is just one of those bands that sound even BETTER than they do on record. Their energy was amazing, they sounded good and I danced the night away. They were extremely interactive with the crowd and played both fan favorites and new songs of their album The Balance. Will definitely be seeing them again if they come to Pittsburgh again!

    VIP Scam

by Sum Guy on 6/29/19Saint Andrews Hall - Detroit

Although the concert was excellent, the upcharge to enter the venue early was a scam. They charged extra for admission early but also let general admission in at the same time. Concert organizers should be ashamed of themselves for taking advantage of the situation and youth.

Band Good, Venue Not So Good

by Luke on 6/28/19STAGE AE - Pittsburgh

I thought the bad was great and did a good job. However, it was an indoor show instead of outside (venue does both - Stage AE). It was my first experience for an indoor concert at Stage AE, and it's way too loud for the size of the venue. It was so loud, that I couldn't differentiate sounds or notes the band was playing, and it was impossible to make out what the singer was saying. It sounded like mumbling - not his fault. I will absolutely go to see Catfish again, but i will never go to another indoor show at Stage AE. For reference, i've been to several outdoor shows at the same venue, and they all have sounded perfect.
