About

CATFISH AND THE BOTTLEMEN IN CONCERT:

U.K. indie rockers Catfish and the Bottlemen are on the rise thanks to their blend of passionate songwriting, memorable melodies, and sonic exploration. In concert lead singer and guitarist Van McCann bares his soul with his yearning vocals on instant classics like “Homesick”, “Cocoon”, and “Kathleen”. The rest of the band stirs up a post-punk-inspired sonic cocktail, using echoing guitar feedback, driving bass melodies, and pulsating drum beats to give each song a vibrant undercurrent. Ticket buyers can’t help but join in on the energetic alternative anthems that Catfish and the Bottlemen bring to the stage whenever they go on tour.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Van McCann was born in Cheshire, England in 1992, though he was raised in Llandudno, Wales. He formed Catfish and the Bottlemen in 2007 with high school friends Billy Bibby (guitar) and Benji Blakeway (bass), and began performing in parking lots after shows by bands like Kasabian. After adding drummer Bob Hall, the group generated considerable buzz in 2013 with the independent release of the singles “Homesick”, “Rango”, and “Pacifier”. They spent the following year turning in impressive performances at festivals like Reading & Leeds, T in the Park, and Governors Ball. The rigorous touring ultimately paid off when their 2014 debut full-length The Balcony peaked at No. 10 on the UK albums chart before being certified Gold later that year. With fans already buzzing about their follow-up album, Catfish and the Bottlemen continue to give impassioned performances to audiences around the world as they build on their sterling reputation.

Their concerts are the most fun, energetic, and the best live performance I’ve been to. Can’t wait to see them again.

    Serving Post-Concert Depression Realness

by Logan Miller on 10/12/19Tabernacle presented by Cricket Wireless - Atlanta

Listen, if CATB announces a show in your area you need to clear your calendar, buy your ticket and mentally prepare yourself for what will without a doubt be one of the top three best concerts of your life regardless of how you have been living your life up until that night. It's been four days and I have thought about how nonstop amazing the entire show was, listened to all three albums reminiscing on the live performance and my neck is still recovering from my overly aggressive (yet necessary) headbanging to the solo in Soundcheck. Don't miss on an opportunity to see them and don't overthink going. Just get your ticket and change your life for the better.

    The band was fantastic!!

by Silvaster1 on 10/10/19Byline Bank Aragon Ballroom - Chicago

Both the opening band (July Talk) and Catfish and the bottlemen were amazing!! The soundcheck on July talk was flawless!! Everything sounded great, lighting and effects were amazing, but I have two complaints: it was Hot in there, like seriously hot, nothing that a few AC couldn’t fix, and the soundcheck for Catfish and the Bottlemen was kinda wonky. The drums were exaggeratedly loud, especially the kick drum, the lead guitar seemed a little too quiet. My phone was able to pick that up, but my ears were about to bleed! Overall, the show was good enough to kinda overlook those details, but still, soundcheck and AC guys, gotta keep an eye on that.

    Simply Amazing!

    by JAS72 on 10/10/19Ryman Auditorium - Nashville

This was my first time seeing a concert at the Ryman Auditorium. We’ve had the pleasure of seeing Catfish and the Bottlemen several times. No other venue even came close to the sound and magic we felt seeing our favorite band perform in such an amazing place with such rich history. Awesome evening!

3 stars only for the band

by Abby on 10/8/19Byline Bank Aragon Ballroom - Chicago

When the doors where supposed open at 7 due to rain with out warning they opened 35 mins early and had people stuffed in front of the stairs for 25 mins just to allow them to trample each other at 7 as they ran towards the stage

Great band! Aragon security and sound need improvement.

by Frequent concertgoer on 10/8/19Byline Bank Aragon Ballroom - Chicago

Catfish and the Bottlemen were excellent. However, many of us concertgoers were trampled as we were going up the stairs to the ballroom. Due to the rain we were allowed to enter the facility about 40 minutes before the scheduled "doors open" time. Upon entering the building we were allowed to congregate close to the staircase. As the crowd near the staircase grew, it was evident that there would be an issue with so many people entering the staircase at the same time. When the security guards announced that we could head upstairs, the trampling began. It was very scary. Someone was actually knocked down. It needs to be handled better for people's safety. Also, the sound in the ballroom does need to be toned down, especially the bass. Very often throughout the show the sound was distorted.

    Sound quality was bad

by oDx on 10/8/19Byline Bank Aragon Ballroom - Chicago

The venue could not figure out how to get the sound quality to be where it needed. There was pauses between most songs so they could adjust the levels. It took more than half of the concert for them to make it sound decent and that was the best they could do. For someone that doesn’t know all of the songs, one could not hear or understand 90% of the words and the bass was incredibly tuned to high.

    Just Go.

by Katie on 10/5/19Bogart's presented by Cricket Wireless - Cincinnati

Catfish and the Bottlemen is a live band- THE live band, if you will. Listening to their songs through headphones or a radio is great, but their sound and stage presence is unreal. I've had the pleasure of seeing them live five times, and I'm ready for a sixth! If you're looking for an honest guitar fronted band with catchy tunes you can dance and scream to, CATB is your band! Do yourself a favor and go see them.
