    A Great Deal of Fun!

by KarenLZ on 3/24/13Pantages Theatre - Los Angeles

My recent opportunity to see Catch Me If You Can was a pleasant surprise! I am not a big fan of shows seemingly coming out of nowhere and with little traditional credibility to musical theatre. That said, the lead's performance (Stephen Anthony) as Frank Abagnale Jr. was amazing! What a talented kid! He showed all the exhuberance and energy necessary for the "wonder" of the character - even though he was in almost every scene! His standout supporting cast included his father, Dominic Fortuna (Frank Abernathy, Sr.) and Aubrey Mae Davis (Brenda) who each lent stellar support to every scene they were in... Merritt David James (Carl Hanratty) was solid in his role, but his occasional vocal similarity to Paul Giamatti was a bit distracting. Overall, it was a FUN show! While there were some occasions when it could have been a bit more stylized ala Robert Palmer's "Addicted to Love," the story was engaging and the musical numbers were stylized enough to the period that it produced a show well worth seeing. Thank you!

    Excessively Predictable

by SteveValleyGlen on 3/23/13Pantages Theatre - Los Angeles

Unfortunately, I had both read the book and seen the movie before seeing the musical. So my focus was on the lyrics (okay) and the music (cookie-cutter for musicals). I did enjoy inventive ways they used the full-stage rear video screen. People around me were enthralled. So be it.

I loved the movie and I like musicals so after reading some reviews, I took the chance and bought a block of tickets for myself and friends on a Thursday work night! The show did not let us down! We all loved it! The singing, dancing and orchestra got me grinning from ear to earthe entire time! It helped that I knew the storyline and we were listening to the soundtrack during the long (so worth it) drive to Pantages. Totally a feel good show!

    Great Score but Lacking Storyline

by jonjohnoc on 3/23/13Pantages Theatre - Los Angeles

This show has a great score by Scott Wittman and Marc Shaiman but the storyline is just okay. There is nothing special about this show and at the current ticket prices, I would say this is good only if you are really into theatre or can get discount tickets

    Catch it if you Can!

by ejginla on 3/22/13Pantages Theatre - Los Angeles

I got the tickets for this show as a Christmas gift for some friends, back in December. The night of the show, in March, we were all so tired from work that we almost just skipped it. But we managed to drag ourselves to the theater and had just the most wonderful time!! The performance was outstanding, funny and entertaining. In all, never a dull moment, even though the story is well known and the ending not a surprise. Even if you're too exhausted to move, drag yourself there, it will be worth every ounce of energy it took to get there! A great evening of laughs...just what the doctor ordered!!

    It's a Musical

by SassyRedHeadUSA on 3/21/13Pantages Theatre - Los Angeles

Yep! It has all the qualities of a good musical - energy, dancing, great songs, highs, lows. fun costumes, and pretty girls. The set was simple. Maybe because it was a touring show. The lead that played Frank Jr. was amazing. The energy he puts into this role is incredible, it's worth mentioning.

Very entertaining, Interesting set. The story was fun. No memorable songs, but a lot of energy. Style was late 50's early 60's. The band was great.

    Loved it!

by Pow3 on 3/19/13Pantages Theatre - Los Angeles

I wanted my two sons (ages 13 and 18) to see a " real" musical. They had seen the movie so we picked this one. We all loved it. The lead singers were awesome. The show was flashy, clever and pure "Broadway"entertainment. I'm so glad we went.

The play was terrific. Lots of great singing and dancing. The lead, Stephen Anthony, was great! He reminded me a bit of Tobey McGuire. A great evening out; catch it if you can!

    Amazing Show

by kizofdragon on 3/19/13Pantages Theatre - Los Angeles

For $50 (discounted ticket plus fees), this was an well worth-it, amazing show! We went there on a Sunday evening, and the theater was almost full. The performers are so talented, especially Stephen Anthony who played Frank Jr. The stage, lighting and sound were great too. We really enjoyed the show!

    Just Ok

by Robot99 on 3/19/13Pantages Theatre - Los Angeles

This was kind of boring, it just kind of dragged on. Im dissappointed overall with the songwriting. The performers are talented, but the writers didn't give them much to work with. There were only like 2 good songs, and they were towards the end. If they give you a huge discount, check it out, but don't expect something great like Wicked, or In the Heights, or Rent.
