Carolina Hurricanes History
The Carolina Hurricanes were established in Raleigh in 1997 after relocating from Hartford, Connecticut, where the National Hockey League franchise was originally founded in 1979. Since their arrival in North Carolina, the Hurricanes have made the playoffs 11 times, captured six division championships, two Eastern Conference titles and the 2006 Stanley Cup Championship.
The team also hosted the 2004 NHL Draft and the 2011 NHL All-Star Game at Lenovo Center, where they play their home games. When the Hurricanes made the playoffs in 2001, against the defending Stanley Cup Champions New Jersey Devils, they lost the series but came back from a 3-0 deficit to force a sixth game — marking what many believed to be the start of real hockey in the Research Triangle.
The 2005-2006 season marked the best in the Hurricanes' history, as the team finished with 112 points, beating the previous franchise-best record of 94 points. They ended up beating the Edmonton Oilers in the Stanley Cup Final, marking the first time in NHL history that two former World Hockey Association teams faced off in the Final.

Located in Raleigh, North Carolina, Lenovo Center(Opens in new tab) opened its doors in October 1999. On opening night, the arena played host to Raleigh's first-ever NHL game when the Hurricanes hosted the New Jersey Devils. The arena has hosted several NHL Stanley Cup Playoff and Final games, including on June 19, 2006, when the Hurricanes had the home advantage and won the Stanley Cup Final in game seven, deviating the Edmonton Oilers 3-1, bringing the Hurricanes their first Stanley Cup and the first major professional sports championship for North Carolina.
In 2019, the arena hosted the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the first time in 10 years and set a single-game record with 19,495 fans in attendance. That record was further extended on May 14, 2022, when the Hurricanes defeated the Boston Bruins 3-2 before 19,513 fans. Lenovo Center welcomes more than 1.5 million guests every year.

Game was exciting. Easy to get in and out of the arena. Parking was easy too. Didn't take long to get out. Lots of food options and merchandise. Great atmosphere even though a Buffalo fan was sitting next to us. LOL!
This was my first Hurricanes game and I was pretty impressed! From the food and drink options to the ease of parking everything was as best as it could be. Definitely leave early because traffic on the highways going to the arena is pretty crazy. The team does a good job of keeping the fans engaged and you can tell this area loves their Hurricanes. I'll definitely be back!
The seats were great. The people that sat beside me were real neat to talk to during intermission and during the game. And the fans behind me from the other team were very respectful for the NHL code of conduct..
We had a great time at the game. We went to see the Knights play. Had seats in the upper 300’s and I also need to get an extra seat because I have a large service dog and it allows her to have more room. As we were sitting down I was approached by an usher that works that area and she moved us down to lower seats so my service dog would have more room to lay down. From the bottom of my heart I truly appreciate what she did for us. I am truly grateful because she didn’t have to do that.
I was apprehensive about using this technology for the first time as I am a child of the 1950's. I felt uncomfortable with no ticket in my hand and with worries about "what if my phone stops working"!! But everything went off smoothly and I will not hesitate to attend another event now that I gave confidence and knowledge of how the ticketing procedure works.
Easy parking, nice facility, good food and beverages with lots of choices (I love the big roast beef sandwhiches), lots of fun activities and good music, AND MY CAROLINA HURRICANES WON IN OVERTIME! What a fun and entertaining night!
Invited two new Hurricane fans tonight. They were impressed beyond belief at the crowd, excitement, and energy of play. I think they are “hooked” on Canes’ hockey.
Great venue to watch a great team. Friendly staff that help you find seats and parking attendants were super helpful. Just be prepared to pay at concessions as a regular size beer is $19.50!
This was the greatest ticket to the greatest game on ice! Amazing experience! 10/10 must recommend!
The parking was slightly expensive but close to arena,the arena was easy to enter and tix scanned with ease and fast pace,the crowd was pumped up and energy was finals gm 5 worthy,the home team `canes Went up by score 2-0 in 1st period and crowd was loud and jumping,then 2nd period and my team the "Champs"Florida Panthers scored 2 quick goals to tie it up and never was close again,ending 4-2 and the crowd wasn't so energetic or pumped for some reason but the venue and event was great!🐀
