About

An iconic singer/songwriter, Carole King's career began in the 1950s, and she has been active in the music scene ever since, most recently using her musical talent to support various philanthropic causes ranging from the protection of wild horses to raising money for victims of gun violence. Known for occasionally touring with fellow troubadour James Taylor, King treats ticket buyers to unforgettable experiences enriched by her strong, clear voice, dynamic personality and sometimes even a high-tech rotating stage. She most recently released, "I Believe In Loving You," an iTunes-exclusive single co-written with Hal David, in May 2013.

King began collaborating with her songwriting partner, Gerry Goffin, throughout the 1960s, and together they penned songs that were eventually sang by musical superstars, such as The Beatles and Aretha Franklin. However, it was King's "Tapestry" album, released in 1971, that propelled her career as a solo artist. It topped the Billboard album charts for 15 consecutive weeks and earned four Grammy Awards. A live concert album, titled "The Living Room Tour" was released in 2005 and was notable for being her highest ranking effort since the 1970s once it landed in the top 20 of the Billboard 200 chart. In May 2013, President Obama presented King with the Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for Popular Song, and it was the first time that accolade had ever been awarded to a female songwriter. The coming months seem likely to bring continued successes for King. She'll be recognized as the MusiCares Person of the Year due to her artistic merit and charitable contributions, and a Broadway musical based on her life will open in late January, featuring a soundtrack of chart-topping tunes from her extensive discography.

    Ms.King and Mr.Taylor

by JazznBlues4u on 5/12/10HP Pavilion At San Jose - San Jose

Voices where better live than the recordings! I would have to put voices like this with Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennett. As an artist becomes older, the voice loses the great sound. But not with Carol King and James Taylor!

    Incredible music and artistic chemistry

by JCSJ on 5/12/10HP Pavilion At San Jose - San Jose

Awesome is the only way to describe tonight's James Taylor/Carole King concert at HP Pavillion. Three solid hours with only a short intermission, incredible connection with the audience and with each other. This is as good as it gets under one roof, with voices and music that hasn't aged a bit. Not to be missed if you get a chance to catch it in another city

    Brilliant, Moving

by Mgeef on 5/12/10HP Pavilion At San Jose - San Jose

Still stunned after an incredible evening. Can Carole King really be 68? She and James Taylor both sound great - both individually and together. You can feel the love in their hearts shining through in their music. What an experience to hear those beautiful songs again. Set design was so thoughtful and effective. They were accessible to everyone, despite the size of the venue. Wonderful to know that great music endures. Sigh....... Unforgettable, inspiring performance.

    Troubadour Reunion

by Delrae on 5/12/10HP Pavilion At San Jose - San Jose

Incredible. I've been listening to James Taylor and Carol King since the early 1970's and they still got it! They are beautiful together both musically and spiritually. I am hoping that they will produce a Troubadour Reunion cd in the not too distant future so we can hear it over and over again. My hat is off to both of them. Rock on!

The set was perfect for an intimate gathering of friends that have been made over the last 40 years. Both Carole King and James Taylor sounded as good as they ever have with a lot of energy and excitement. It was fun to bring my 22 year old son who grew up listening and knowing all the words.

King and Taylor Transcend Time and Age

by sangox8 on 5/12/10HP Pavilion At San Jose - San Jose

Carole King and James Taylor sounded like they did in the 1970's only better because they played songs that came after that decade. Both were in top form and sounded as if their voices have not been affected with the passage of time. Watching and listening, I felt the way I did when each song was first released. Could not recommend this concert with more enthusiasm!

    WOW

by Koche on 5/12/10HP Pavilion At San Jose - San Jose

I was a little skeptical, wondering how they would sound, hoping they were not just another 60s and 70s group looking for a comeback. Well, they have not lost a step. That was one of, if not he best, concerts I have ever been to. James Taylor's smooth voice and guitar playying are soooooo soothing. Carole King has not lost a thing, SHE ROCKED.

Thank you Carole and James for an amazing evening.

by Sleveless on 5/12/10HP Pavilion At San Jose - San Jose

I knew it would be a special concert because of their years of great music but it was their obvious love for music and performing that made it even sweeter. It was a joy just watching these true friends spill out love for each other and for the audience.

Troubadour Reunion Is Not To Be Missed!

by MusicMan777 on 5/12/10HP Pavilion At San Jose - San Jose

It was a great show from beginning to end! The setlist was well-balanced with an equal amount of songs from both James Taylor and Carole King, including some cuts they have collaborated on together over the years. There was also a good mix of song tempos, with several quiet guitar/piano tunes, and many full band numbers that got you out of your seat! Overall an incredible experience! Highly Recommended!!!

by Xchrisp on 5/12/10HP Pavilion At San Jose - San Jose

Carole King and James Taylor proved they could "rock out" and worked together seamlessly and beautifully surrounded by generations of fans. There songs poetic and there singing angelic. What great American Icons these two have become. There band members are true professionals whom enriched the show with simplicity and flare all working together to bring a dramatic night for the crowds. I will cherish this night.
