About

An iconic singer/songwriter, Carole King's career began in the 1950s, and she has been active in the music scene ever since, most recently using her musical talent to support various philanthropic causes ranging from the protection of wild horses to raising money for victims of gun violence. Known for occasionally touring with fellow troubadour James Taylor, King treats ticket buyers to unforgettable experiences enriched by her strong, clear voice, dynamic personality and sometimes even a high-tech rotating stage. She most recently released, "I Believe In Loving You," an iTunes-exclusive single co-written with Hal David, in May 2013.

King began collaborating with her songwriting partner, Gerry Goffin, throughout the 1960s, and together they penned songs that were eventually sang by musical superstars, such as The Beatles and Aretha Franklin. However, it was King's "Tapestry" album, released in 1971, that propelled her career as a solo artist. It topped the Billboard album charts for 15 consecutive weeks and earned four Grammy Awards. A live concert album, titled "The Living Room Tour" was released in 2005 and was notable for being her highest ranking effort since the 1970s once it landed in the top 20 of the Billboard 200 chart. In May 2013, President Obama presented King with the Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for Popular Song, and it was the first time that accolade had ever been awarded to a female songwriter. The coming months seem likely to bring continued successes for King. She'll be recognized as the MusiCares Person of the Year due to her artistic merit and charitable contributions, and a Broadway musical based on her life will open in late January, featuring a soundtrack of chart-topping tunes from her extensive discography.

    Best Show

by RachelB89 on 7/21/10Scottrade Center - St Louis

This concert was by far the best I have ever been to. The acoustics were flawless, the band was phenomenal, and the venue surprisingly intimate despite the size of the audience. James Taylor and Carole King each have unique but fun stage presence; their excitement easily overflowed into the crowd. After 40 awe-inspiring years in the music industry, they've still got it!

very good concert - James was laid back as normal, and Carole (who we had not seen before) was a dynamo. Great combination, and they worked so well together.

by bethie333 on 7/18/10Scottrade Center - St Louis

I have been to about 15 or 16 concerts (back in the day) ,my mother in law took me to STL last weekend to see James and Carole , and this was hands down the best live show I have ever seen. James and Carole put on a hell of a show, they had so much energy and the musical connection between the two was unforgetable. I WILL NEVER FORGET IT!!!

Absolutely amazing concert. Last minute great seats were available and worth every penny! When I am 68 I can only hope to have as much energy as Carole King. They still sound terrific and together was awesome. Very nostalgic music for me and took my daughter, for 21st birthday gift- she said it was the best concert she had ever been to!!

This show was WAY better than we expected. James Taylor and Carole King were great--but we expected that. The surprises were the sidemen [all fantastic], the other singers [also great] and the production. The stage was round and turned slowly part of the time. Images of the concert were displayed on 8 flat screens. Then there was a round screen between the flats screens where they showed old photos of Taylor, King and members of the band. At one point they showed images of old light shows. The Scottrade Center in St. Louis is a hockey arena but it worked great for this show.My photo is pretty poor but does give you an idea of the stage setup. The sound was fantastic.

Carole King/James Taylor still have IT!

by doggirl1 on 7/15/10Scottrade Center - St Louis

What a wonderful concert Carole King and James Taylor gave us Saturday night (7/10)! One of the best concerts we've been to EVER (and we have been to a few dozen). All the music, sound, and pictures were perfect and I will remember it as long as I am given the gift of memories . . . made me feel like a high school kid again hearing all those wonderful songs. Backup singers were fantastic, band was amazing, and we thoroughly enjoyed every minute . . . didn't want the evening to end.

    A Rock Concert... Alas!

by EBGADE on 7/14/10Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza - Wilkes-Barre

A dazzeling nearly flawless performance by two consumate professionals. UInfortunately the performances were often completely obscured by the pyrotechnics and deafening sound system. These two, but especially Taylor, rely on the details, the fine nuances of his performance to convey the rich message of his music and lyrics. This message was frequently obliterated by the rock concert production values. Whoever thought up the bright idea of a revolving stage should be forced to personally refund two thirds of everyone's ticket price because the revolving stage meant that no one saw more that about one third of the concert. The other two thirds of the time the performers were either in profile or over in the next county someplace with their backs turned. I was very disappointed. It should be said, however, that the majority of the audience apparently loved it.

    Carole stole the show!!!

by billyjoelsbiggestfan on 7/13/10Scottrade Center - St Louis

Never saw either James or Carole live before and sorry I missed all the previous performances. Carole King's Tapestry album was the first one I bought after receiving my first stereo in about 1972. She sounds even better in 2010--not bad for 68!!!! They were both absolutely fabulous in my book--would go back in heartbeat and spend top dollar for the seats by the stage--enjoyed it immensely!!!!! Was wonderful to be in a crowd that was more involved with the show than with concessions and restroom visits!! No constant up and down ( and we had aisle seats) and no constant talking around us--WONDERFUL!!!!

If you can imagne the best concert you have ever been to, this is IT! Carol looks and sounds amazing- check out the heels in the first half! how does she do it and sing so beautifully at the same time?! James is terrific with his mellow voice and sweet disposition. JT and Carole King were amaziing.

by tribephan on 7/13/10Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza - Wilkes-Barre

This night was so wonderful. They sang so many hits and sounded so good together. It was an atmosphere that just sent chills up your spine. To be there with music royalty was just unforgettable. The seats were great. The sound was even better. It was definitely a night that my wife and I will always remember. The looks on Caroles face showed she was happy to be there. To see also the humbleness of JT was also very sweet. It shows how much they appreciated us being there. Sometimes you go to a concert and the act just goes through the motions, but not here. Thanks to both Carole and JT for a remarkable evening!

All that was missing was a _______!

by SKSF on 7/13/10Scottrade Center - St Louis

Absolutely amazing is the only way to describe the James Taylor/Carole King concert in STL. The sheer energy that Carole brings to the stage is no less than it was 30 years ago and it is balanced still perfectly by James' calmness. They wove the tapestry of lives by celebrating their art. The age of the crowd had to average 60 and while some of us dressed our age, others clearly dressed to evidence bead curtains hanging in their doorways and an over-waxed bottle of Chianti on the nightstand! Such are the traits of the generation they have grown with.....Thank you, Carole and James!

    Carole and James were Great!

by grettalynn on 7/13/10Scottrade Center - St Louis

I bought these tickets for my mom for mother's day. She and I went and it was amazing. We had been listening to their CD's so we knew all the songs. Both Carole and James, provided great entertainment, their spirit of their live show was unforgetable. Well worth the money! I'm looking into tickets for their next concert!

It is incredible that two singer / songwriter icons can still wow us after they burst upon the music scene some 40 years ago, and to hear them together in concert is just unbelievable.
