Carol was great Audience Members not so

by Lavelle on 9/28/09McCaw Hall - Seattle

My gosh - Carol looked beautiful and stunning in her red outfit and black hose/shoes (Bob Mackie would be proud). She delivered enough history (show clips) and personal question and answers to keep the show moving...until the audience stopped the rhythm. There should be a course on "How to answer a question - Not how to tell everyone about themselves and MAYBE ask something interesting." Audience members were combative (asking about a legal situation), inappropriate (requesting her to join Salmon Habitat protection), or clueless (telling her about how their mother can do the Tarzan yell as good as she could). She handled everything with class and even a funny comment to ease the tension. I know shills are out of the question, but sometimes! Carol 5 stars -- Audience 1 star

    Carol Burnett is AMAZING!

    by RaR14 on 9/28/09McCaw Hall - Seattle

It was like sitting in my livingroom with my best friend who just came came home from a long vacation. There was so much we needed to talk about - memories of the good old days to relive. So much love to share. We laughed untill we couldn't breath.

    Enjoyable

    by 4949 on 9/28/09McCaw Hall - Seattle

I love Carol Burnett and she did not disappoint. The only thing I would change: I wish she just got up there and talked and told her stories. The audience questions got very long and boring. They went into too much detail about themselves and took too long to get to the question. I also would have loved her talk to talk about, and maybe even do a little bit, of Eunice!!! She may have had time for that and more if the audience didn't ask questions.

    Carol Burnett was amazing

by babbas on 9/28/09McCaw Hall - Seattle

Carol was wonderful, funny and very entertaining. The only bad part of the show were the people in the audience asking questions. Everyone seemed to want to talk about themselves and most didn't ask very good questions. Thank goodness she brought clips from old shows and had her own comedy prepared. Maybe in the future she should have people submit their questions in advance and pick the most interesting ones to answer.

    It was different

by Delano on 9/28/09McCaw Hall - Seattle

For the most part we enjoyed ourselves. Carol Burnett is obviously loved. The clips she showed were really fun. I liked the format and it would have been better if people had SHUT UP and asked a question. So many people went on about themselves. Some woman had to talk about her screenplays, some guy wanted to get into something serious about a lawsuit she was in and the first woman to ask a question talked so much she never got to it! The audience needs to be warned that it's not about THEM but about everyone having a good time and hearing about her.

    Carol as charming as ever!!

    by Jim49 on 9/28/09McCaw Hall - Seattle

The night was a combination of question and answer sements, video clips and some funny stories. I was kind of embarrased at some of the the long drawn out and stupid questions people were asking. Hope she doesnt think all of Seattle thinks like these people. Would have just loved to have seen some video clips of "the family" that was so popular. The clips seemed to be a lot of the earlier days of the show. On the whole, you can tell Carol Burnett still has it though.

Carol Burnett was awesome as the kids say!!

    by huggie1 on 9/28/09McCaw Hall - Seattle

Her delivery is very good. She wants the audience to feel at home. Her references to Tim, Lyle, Harvey, and Vicki were like they were family. It was wonderful to laugh so hard. Need more entertainment like her.

    Evening w/Carol Burnett

by anymom on 9/28/09McCaw Hall - Seattle

It was a nice night, I didn't really know what to expect. The trick is she depends heavily on the audience to ask interesting questions and if they just gush about how much they love her and their memories of the show it really takes away time from hearing her talk about her life. People that go and get to ask a question should try to rehearse what they would ask and keep their own comments to a minimum. Additionally the show really only lasted under 90 minutes with quite a few breaks for showing clips from her show. It started about 10-15 minutes after 7:30 and ended at 9pm. I would have enjoyed more time hearing Carol speak.

Fantastic except for a couple people

by DeanSeaWa on 9/28/09McCaw Hall - Seattle

Carol was great and very gracious to everyone. The show was mostly a Q&A with occasional videos from her show. The only bad moments were two inconsiderate people who were suppose to ask her a question but instead turned it into a presentation to further their own purposes. The first went on about her screenplay, and the second was a gentlemen trying to raise awareness of the plight of endangered Salmon. I was mortified when I heard them both. If either of you two are reading this, you should be ashamed of yourselves. So very selfish. But back to Carol, I would eagerly see her again if she comes back to Seattle.

    Love Carol Burnett but....

by BurnettFan on 9/28/09McCaw Hall - Seattle

As much as I love Carol Burnett, I was disappointed in this event. I wanted/expected to see more of Carol telling stories and entertaining us with her comedy. In my opinion, there was too much time spent on clips from her variety show, which, although entertaining, I could have seen just as easily on a television special. The questions from the audience were mostly annoying - some people went on and on about their personal lives, as if Carol or anyone in the audience cared to hear that much about them. I would have preferred to hear more about Carol's life, funny things that happened off camera while she was doing her show, anecdotes about other members of the cast, etc. In my opinion, this show was overpriced for the hour and a half that Carol spent with us.

    Burnett Disappointing

by RgPope on 9/28/09McCaw Hall - Seattle

Her show just semed so "canned". As my wife put it, "Better we had spent the $140.00 on some of her DVDs".

    Sweetest lady ever

by Pulsar on 9/26/09Orpheum Theatre - Vancouver

She still has it. Carol interacted with the audience, showed us fantastic clips and shared her best anecdotes. Through it all she exuded love, respect and high humour. We met her once before, and it was as if she were speaking to us directly, even though we were in the balcony. Everyone must get that feeling. The standing ovation went on forever.

    Carol Burnett still has it!!

by jaterish on 9/25/09Orpheum Theatre - Vancouver

Wow, what a thrill to see Carol Burnett live and lively she is. I always get goosebumps at a standing ovation at the beginnning of a performance and last nights welcome was very touching and amazing. Carol's sense of humor is contagious and her laugh is still hearty and genuine ,you can't help but laugh when you hear her laugh. She answered questions with genuine thoughtfulness, depth and sometimes with razor sharp spontaneity: George Clooney did you get the message yet.?How does the queen of comedy respond to the question about what is the funniest thing that ever happened to her ,that was a challenge that she handled well She took us on a trip down memory lane that highlighted so many episodes that highlighted not just her humour but ,versatility , and a great voice.Although seemed little short, but then three hours may have seemed short as well. It is so refreshing to see someone of her age still active, sharp and contributing, an inspiration to us all.

    disappointing

by ellay on 9/25/09Orpheum Theatre - Vancouver

firstly, the venue was having issues and there's no excuse for that. Carol couldn't hear anything being said by the audience, and up in the balcony, we had a hard time hearing her, the clips that were being shown, etc. It's too bad Carol didn't do any performing, but instead allowed blowhards from the audience use up most of the time enjoying listening to themselves on the mike. NO really difficult or interesting questions were asked.

    Carol Burnett was very funny.

by plep on 7/20/09Centennial Concert Hall - Winnipeg

I took my 81 year old mother to see Carol Burnett. When I was young we used to watch the show and laugh so hard we had tears in our eyes. The same happened at this show. I have not seen my mother laugh so hard, nor have I in a very long time. Her stories and the videos were great. They brought back a lot of great memories.

Carol Burnett was fantastic as ever!!!

by Reenie16 on 7/15/09Centennial Concert Hall - Winnipeg

The Laughter and Reflection evening with Carol Burnett was fantastic. The mixture of footage from the Carol Burnett show and live audience questions was just right. The video restrospective hit all of my favourite show moments. And Carol was great - quick thinking, witty, engaging and funny as ever.
