Horrible Experience for the Haitian Groups

by DaphB on 9/2/13Barclays Center - Brooklyn

I was very disappointed when the Haitians group did not have sounds. The show was cut short the first group Djakout #1 only played 2 songs and had no sounds, second group Tabou Combo also had no sound they had to stop the so they can have a little bit of sound. What I found ironic is that Kasav had the best sounds that night. I can say the Haitian community was very disappointed and sad Brooklyn has a very large Haitian population when we paid our money for something we expect delivery.

    Not enough Kassav!!!

    by TheAnonymousOne1 on 9/2/13Barclays Center - Brooklyn

The show started almost an hour late, the stadium was not filled so we were able to get better seats than what we purchased. Kassav was really great but I felt like everybody was disappointed they didn't play a longer set. Wyclef is a great showman and he really know how to work a crowd. Other than the end of the show, I felt like I paid tickets to listen to the DJ play music, he was very good, but that's not what I paid for. The transition between each act didn't flow very well. At one point the music stopped during the DJ's set. All in all it was alright, it just needed to tighten up on punctuality and flow through each set and a longer set for the main acts (Kassav and Wyclef).

by enlove on 9/2/13Barclays Center - Brooklyn

I was very disappointed as to how disorganize this event was throughout. The show started late. It would of been a really good night if more planning went into the show. Extremely disappointed.

    Caribbean Fever International Night disappointment

    by Souse53 on 9/2/13Barclays Center - Brooklyn

I went in with tremendous excitement to see some of my favorite Creole music acts, Kassav and Tabou Combo, and left with a total sense of disappointment. The show started late, thereby causing the artists' time to be limited, and above all, the sound system sucked. In putting on such a show, and with the caliber of the artists, the sound system needed to be of a higher level. The artists, having been in the music business for over 30 years, shared their disappointment with us, but still showed their professionalism, by trying to please the fans, with their best performance possible. To me it was a greater disappointment for my son, who grew up listening to these giants of Kompas and Zouk music, but had never seen them perform live, until that night.

    The was forgettable

    by Toi345 on 9/2/13Barclays Center - Brooklyn

The event was scheduled for 8:00pm but it started at 8:54pm. The sound system was terrible throughout, particularly for the Haitian acts. Why? In the meantime, the sound for kassav was up to par. I spent $150, only to see Djakout play three songs with Terrible sounds; the same can be said of Tabou Combo. The microphones were poor, the preparation was horrendous and I'm not sure i would return to such an event.

    Caribbean Event

by Lubsky on 9/2/13Barclays Center - Brooklyn

I attended a Justin Bieber concert on August 2nd and the sound quality and performance was phenomenal!!!! I expected the same when I attended the Caribbean Fever Festival Event. Instead, the sound quality was awful most of the evening, curtailing the performers' performance time. At one point, Tabou Combo had to stop performing because we, the audience, could not hear anything--and we on the floor level in row 7. The same happened with Djakout, the first performers--they could not figure out how to turn on the microphone of the LEAD singer, while all his other colleagues continued to sing around him. And because of all the delays, Wyclef Jean's performance was cut short too, as he exclaimed to us. I wish I could get a credit or coupon towards another event for the money that myself, my husband, and my sister paid.

    Kassav should have played longer.

    by Harlem2013 on 9/2/13Barclays Center - Brooklyn

I think this event should be made a one night event, there is too much going on labor day weekend to get the entire west Indian community. OK it was three night but the show was too short, especially when KASSAV came on I was dissapointed, they did not get the opportunity to play as the Kassav I know, but was happy to see them.

Kassav owned it with Wyclef closely following

by Missynd on 9/2/13Barclays Center - Brooklyn

I was fired up to see the show as I have experienced Kassav 2 years ago. I was truly disappointed. The sound check continued well after the show start time and there was a sound check in between each artist. The Djs played more than the actual artists. Now if I wanted to hear DJ for 2 hours I would have gone to a club. I am proud that this event took place and that it is a testimony of the Haitian Community. Kassav, I will see again and look forward to their next show.
