    Capitol Steps was hilarious!!

by Louis23 on 7/17/09Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center - Washington

The very topical skits kept me laughing so hard that I cried. The songs and ditties offended the politicos, whether left or right, equally. Their spoofs were as fresh as the lastest headlines and scandals.

    Fun Show...Bad Seats

by nyteacher on 7/17/09Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center - Washington

I bought tickets in the terrace level to save a few dollars. According to the theatre map on Ticketmaster, that was just behind the orchestra level. When we arrived and picked our tickets up from will call, they said "general admission" which meant that we had to sit on a folding chair off to the side of the theatre and were unable to see a quarter of the stage. I would definitely recommend spending the extra few dollars to sit in the orchestra where you will have a real seat and a view of the entire stage. The show itself is very fun. It was a political comedy show but the skits included jokes about all political groups. I guess the most made fun of were the Republicans but that's just so easy right now. We saw the show the night that they were recording their 4th of July radio show. After seeing the Capitol Steps live, I will begin tuning into the radio broadcasts and wouldn't hesitate to see them again on my next trip to DC.

Capitol Steps made me laugh until I cried!!

by CapitolStepsLuv on 7/16/09Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center - Washington

Every time I see the Capitol Steps, I leave their show with my sides hurting from laughing so hard. They truly have their finger on the pulse of the ridiculous political world. They skewer the absurdities of Washington with hilarious precision.

by nprviewer on 7/16/09Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center - Washington

They put on over 2 hours of almost constant laughs and smiles. I have heard them on the radio for years and finally go to see them in person.

caps: funnier than a senate confirmation hearing

by treejim on 7/16/09Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center - Washington

Washington is a place where everybody takes themselves very seriously. Capitol Steps is no exception! These folks are seriously funny to the core.

    You have to laugh--Again!

by LaurieR on 7/16/09Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center - Washington

No matter how many times I see it, I laugh--and laugh--and laugh. The jokes are funny, the music is good, the cast is talented. Even the audience is entertaining--like the Democrat seated next to me. He loudly applauded every Republican joke and scowled indignantly at every Democrat joke. I couldn't help but laugh!

    Capitol steps

by SpankingWind on 7/15/09Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center - Washington

We had heard of this production before but this was the first time to see it live. The best part for me was that I could understand the words. This is an intellectual endeavor and it's almost up to the minute with current events. Whoever does the scripting must work awfully hard and fast. I also especially like it that all political persuasions were picked on. Seeing Sam Nunn, former Sen from our home state of GA, sitting just behind us didn't hurt either. It was a wonderful way to spend an evening in DC. Oh, and the voices were great.

    Loved, loved, loved it!

by stepsfan on 7/15/09Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center - Washington

The Capitol Steps are an annual must-see for us -- they're so incredibly fresh and funny! This year we brought our 12 and 15 year old daughters, who are both musical and reasonably in touch with the politics of our day. They LOVED it, and we've been listening to our CapSteps CDs ever since.

    Cap Steps still great

by Draus on 7/15/09Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center - Washington

I went two years ago, and the steps are still great. I really like how they've updated their material to be current with events as recent as a few weeks ago. I'm also amazed at the versatility of the actors, covering such a wide range of "characters" with so few people. A great show every few years!

Local institution hasn't lost a step!

by Steplively on 7/14/09Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center - Washington

I haven't seen a show by the Capital Steps in years. My friend was taking her first trip to D.C. and I wanted her to experience all the local "institutions" that make D.C. D.C. We were front row center, so it's a very good thing we had such a fabulous time because they certainly would have noticed if we hadn't! The comedy was unbelievably current and hysterically funny. We both agreed that our cheeks hurt from laughing and smiling so much. I may have actually accidentally snorted once I was so overcome with laughter. The Capital Steps are still the best at politically witty and insightful comedy, or in their case, musical comedy. Don't make plans to go to Washington without getting tickets to the Capital Steps. A great way to top off a day of seeing monuments and museums.

    Capitol Steps = Genius!

by texasgirl1 on 7/14/09Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center - Washington

We attended the Friday night show on July 10, 2009. The ensemble cast consisted of six actors and every one of them was amazing. They did a great job of poking fun at all the stupid stuff we Americans and our government do. I also felt they did a good job of being an equal opportunity mocker...I didn't feel like they beat up too much on any one group of people. Two things to note though: you must have your picture I.D. to enter the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center. I didn't know and we almost didn't get in. Thankfully my husband had his. Also, some of the humor was a bit risque' so be forewarned if you intend to take young children with you. Good show!

    Political Satire at its Finest

by BigGMan on 7/14/09Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center - Washington

Anyone who loves sausage and the law should never watch either one being made. But anyone who loves politics and making fun of politics should never miss this show.

    The Capitol Steps are amazing!!!

by comedyfan2009 on 7/14/09Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center - Washington

Went to the Capitol Steps the other night for a delightful event. They are always pushing the limit with new and ever more clever ways to describe the news and world events, and they are reliably funny, charming, and mostly just hysterically funny. I try to go every year and sometimes more often, whenever things seem a little overwhelming as I am sure to be cheered and laughed into good humor by their wonderful songs and performances. A must see!!

    Capitol Steps, 3 stars

by youthleader on 7/13/09Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center - Washington

Overall the performance was enjoyable though many of my 18 year old students got a little lost. You definitely have to be up on the political news to get all of it. Also, the audience that you get really effects how much you enjoy the show. We had a very mild/quiet/non-involved audience that I think really negatively effected our experience. I would still recommend it.

Capitol steps was funny and enjoyable

by Lind on 7/13/09Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center - Washington

A group of 4 went to see the Capitol Steps and were entertained from the moment they started to the finish. Two of us had seen them before and thought some of the material might be the same, but it was all new!

The Capitol Steps are an America Icon and are a must to see. This was our 3rd time seeing but my our first in the nations capitol. It only makes it better to be in the heart of the blood clot (ha).
