    Disappointing Experience

by SW on 6/14/23Merriweather Post Pavilion - Columbia

Jazzfest 2023 was a little disappointing. This is our first year back to the the Jazzfest since the Pandemic and I'm glad to see that they took steps to rectify the mudpits by adding mulch and asphalt; however, it was disappointing how the talent lineup was set up. Theneed to schedule the performances to where one artist finshes on one stage before the next artist begins on the next stage, so Jazzfest goers can experience the full performances of all artists. The place is usually full of concert goers so it's not easy to move from one location to the other to see all performances. They would cut from the Symphony Woods stage to the Main Pavilion stage while the performance on the Symphony Woods stage was still going on. It was also somewhat disrespectful to The Isley Brothers to have them performing on the Symphony Woods stage and then in the middle of their performance, cut the sound and video to the Pavilion stage where Incognito was performing. Same goes for George Benson, someone of his years of musical talent should not have been cut over in the middle of his performance. There were so many people who tried to pack in at the Symphony Woods stage just to hear/see The Isley Brothers, because the video and sound cut to the Main Stage that it was impossible to enjoy, AND the sound from the Main stage made it impossible to hear The Isley Brothers. This year's Jazzfest only had a handful of great performers, where in previous years the lineup was much better. On a positive note, the event staff were some of the most friendly, helpful and accommodating people we've experienced.

    Must attend next year

by Music lover on 6/14/23Merriweather Post Pavilion - Columbia

It was an awesome event, that we have been going yearly. Difficulty with Ticketmaster getting my tickets by mail. Had to do a will call at the event. But we did not let that spoil our time.

    All That Jazzeness!

by Gr00v1n on 6/13/23Merriweather Post Pavilion - Columbia

Everyone was Good except the sound for my favorite group Moonchild vocally Amber Navran mic/sound was low not good band was louder than her vocal. Now though they weren't the MAIN performers let their sound be just as good as the headliner tickets r to expensive to have subpar sound for non headliners. If they out do the head perform so be it my opinion‼️ After they performed Robert G, Corrine, and George Benson crystal clear my opinionis... 😶

Great time at the capital jazz .

by Lee on 6/11/23Merriweather Post Pavilion - Columbia

I’m from Philadelphia. This is my first capital jazz festival. My lady and I have always had a great great time. The variety of music was awesome . Most important to me was the parking was totally impeccable no traffic jam coming in or going out. I will be at every capital jazz festival until the day I die.

    Wonderful Performances

by JJ on 6/10/23Merriweather Post Pavilion - Columbia

I thoroughly enjoyed the performers I was able to see Saturday. This year my favorite favorites were at Symphony in The Woods. Unfortunately Sunday, hubby and i arrived at what we thought was an early time but couldn't get seats this time. Some folks saved multiple seats with towels, umbrellas, etc. Please consider tickets for Symphony in the Woods.

    Better than in Previous Years

by Chocolate 7 on 6/10/23Merriweather Post Pavilion - Columbia

This year’s Capital Jazz Festival was the “Best” I’ve seen in years!!! The fact that they added more Jazz Artist to the line up (Sunday) is a major improvement. For years I would send emails complaining about the lack of Jazz Artist and they should consider changing the name to the Capital Music Festival. Have all Jazz/Jazzy R&B Artist on the Main Stage and R&B Artist in the Symphony Woods. That would make sense. I also enjoyed the Michael Jackson Tribute.

    Too Much Walking

by NJFan on 6/9/23Merriweather Post Pavilion - Columbia

I'm used to the physical layout of the venue-- which seems to change annually. This introduced an inordinate amount of ADDITIONAL walking, with the repositioning of the vendors.to the perimeter.of Tent City. Please keep the vendors in a central location.

    It was amazing!

by Tanya TJ on 6/9/23Merriweather Post Pavilion - Columbia

The Capital Jazz is a weekend of great jazz and R&B music. It has many vendors to find merchandise catered to African American culture. Also the food is delicious especially from the Caribbean cuisine of Jamrock Jerk. You have to go for the experience. You won't regret it.

    Stages were too close!

by Kiya on 6/9/23Merriweather Post Pavilion - Columbia

I went to the Sunday show on June 4th. I liked the variety of performances and the acts were all great. I will say depending on where you were sitting, the sound would overlap from each of the two stages which made it difficult to hear the music. I’m not sure if they could separate the distance of the stages in the future or stagger the acts so there is only one performer at a time. It was very distracting and took away from the show. Other than they they had lots of different vendors. Could have used more food trucks because the lines and waits were very long.

    The Overall lineup was great.

by Jan on 6/9/23Merriweather Post Pavilion - Columbia

They had alot of the acts coming on at the same time on different stages. They could have staggered the times better. They need more ADA parking. I had to park on the 5th floor of the garage each day after arriving at 9am.

    Disappointed

by JB on 6/9/23Merriweather Post Pavilion - Columbia

I’ve been going to the capital jazz fest for years This year was a disappointment. The site lines to view the screens were blocked by tree branches. The screens are smaller and fewer. If you were watching on the lawn, you could hear both concerts going on which made it so you could not hear either one. It was terrible. Merriweather Post Pavilion will needs to reinvest in their infrastructure because the quality venue has diminished.

    Experts at this

by BAD on 6/9/23Merriweather Post Pavilion - Columbia

At every turn I was given enough detail to know how to purchase my tix, how to view the barcode, how to view the receipt, how to transfer a ticket, if I changed my mind how to cancel the transfer request & when this option was still available. I received frequent reminders of my upcoming event.

    Good Show

by FTTB on 6/8/23Merriweather Post Pavilion - Columbia

Joe and Fantasia performed very well. I especially liked how Fantasia interacted with the crowd. She also did a great job handling the unexpected situation in the audience (I think two men had to be put out of venue for fighting). However, I did not like the seat I purchased. It was behind the walkway, so it was a distraction when people were coming and going to their seats. Will not buy a ticket in that section again. Overall, the show was nice.

    Could have been better

by Jazzy B on 6/8/23Merriweather Post Pavilion - Columbia

Performances were great ! However signage and directions for parking, etc were non existent. We spent a lot of time trying to figure out these details. There were no signs regarding parking zones and no one to help answer questions.

    Good Time

by Neccie on 6/8/23Merriweather Post Pavilion - Columbia

I loved everything about the festival. I don’t understand why the Symphony Stage ran over an hour late? The Isley Brothers came on over an hour late. We were not able to see the final Pavilion act Incognito which actually started before the Isley Brothers!
