About

CALVIN RICHARDSON IN CONCERT:

Beloved crooner Calvin Richardson has long been a neo-soul favorite with his silky-smooth voice, sensual productions, and passionate performances. Richardson is known by fans as the "Prince of Soul", and concertgoers will have no trouble seeing why -- at his live shows he delivers luscious tracks like "Keep On Pushin'" and "You're So Amazing" with an ease and precision that never fail to leave audiences in awe. Richardson made waves in 2014 with the steamy R&B single "We Gon' Love Tonite" -- the lead single from his sixth studio album I Am Calvin -- and he continues to elicit collective swoons on his must-see tours.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Monroe, North Carolina-born Calvin Richardson was a familiar presence on the gospel circuit before he joined the R&B group Undacova in the early '90s. After that project failed to gain traction Richardson went solo, and in 1999 he released his debut album Country Boy on Universal Records. The album sold more than 100,000 units, paving the way for the success of his 2003 sophomore album 2:35 PM. That album peaked at No. 8 on the R&B chart, spawning the hit single "Keep On Pushin'" and earning Richardson a Grammy nomination for the track "More Than a Woman". The Grammy love continued in 2009 when his album Facts of Life: The Soul of Bobby Womack -- a tribute to the late great singer -- was nominated for two awards. Following the 2010 release of his fifth album America's Most Wanted, Richardson took some time off to pursue other projects including a stint on the reality TV show Come Back Kings. Following four years of studio silence, he reemerged in 2014 with the single "We Gon' Love Tonite", a triumphant return that has ticket buyers eagerly awaiting his upcoming tour dates.

I attended the SoulFest I'm Columbus GA on Friday, August 27th and it was great. From standing in line until I got in my seat was good. Even though we are in pandemic I felt they handle everything is a Safe and Healthy Way!!!

    Extra acts

    by N. on 12/31/19Mississippi Coliseum - Jackson

I don’t think they should have a lot of extra acts. Calvin Richardson made it to stage late. Ppl were ready to go.

    Ehh, could’ve been better!

    by AL_Cutie on 12/31/19Mississippi Coliseum - Jackson

The concert could’ve been nice and more enjoyable if they didn’t have that “comedian” as the host. The way he used profanity and the “n” word throughout the night was unnecessary, yet unattractive. However, the artists were all great and put on decent shows! The host? Nah.

    Calvin Richardson & Friends

by SweetLady on 5/9/19Washington County Convention Center & Fairgrounds - Greenville

The concert was everything and more. We had a great time. Good food, good show, good everything! BIGG ROBB and CALVIN RICHARDSON did phenomenal shows. I loved the personal touch of each performer. They all really connected with the audience. The negatives to the show for my group were: The announcers/hosts and the intermission music. 1) One announcer acted like he was on some type of drug or something. He just talked way too much. He went on and on and killed the vibe during intermission. The positive to intermission was when there were a few announcements made regarding health and wellness. The over talking of one of the announcers just made us want to leave the facility altogether until the next act would come on, especially between BIGG ROBB and Calvin's show. 2) During intermission many concert dj's and the venue provide some music that keeps the crowd active, engaged, and hyped. We really could have stood a little of more lively music, maybe something the crowd could get up and dance too like line dancing, etc. The DJ finally played The Wobble but he cut it off maybe 30 seconds into the song and let someone get up with some loud talking again. Overall BONE 40 Productions did a great job and the show was great. Can't forget the Pineapple Cocktail too! On Point! Until next time!!!!!!!!!!!!!
