About

CALVIN RICHARDSON IN CONCERT:

Beloved crooner Calvin Richardson has long been a neo-soul favorite with his silky-smooth voice, sensual productions, and passionate performances. Richardson is known by fans as the "Prince of Soul", and concertgoers will have no trouble seeing why -- at his live shows he delivers luscious tracks like "Keep On Pushin'" and "You're So Amazing" with an ease and precision that never fail to leave audiences in awe. Richardson made waves in 2014 with the steamy R&B single "We Gon' Love Tonite" -- the lead single from his sixth studio album I Am Calvin -- and he continues to elicit collective swoons on his must-see tours.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Monroe, North Carolina-born Calvin Richardson was a familiar presence on the gospel circuit before he joined the R&B group Undacova in the early '90s. After that project failed to gain traction Richardson went solo, and in 1999 he released his debut album Country Boy on Universal Records. The album sold more than 100,000 units, paving the way for the success of his 2003 sophomore album 2:35 PM. That album peaked at No. 8 on the R&B chart, spawning the hit single "Keep On Pushin'" and earning Richardson a Grammy nomination for the track "More Than a Woman". The Grammy love continued in 2009 when his album Facts of Life: The Soul of Bobby Womack -- a tribute to the late great singer -- was nominated for two awards. Following the 2010 release of his fifth album America's Most Wanted, Richardson took some time off to pursue other projects including a stint on the reality TV show Come Back Kings. Following four years of studio silence, he reemerged in 2014 with the single "We Gon' Love Tonite", a triumphant return that has ticket buyers eagerly awaiting his upcoming tour dates.

    AWESOME

by Simply on 1/1/19Mississippi Coliseum - Jackson

The line up was great. Vic Allen did his thang by starting off with some fabulous soul music. J Wonn the baby of the bunch is growing up and did a good show. Sir Charles did not have a good show he was hoarse and asked his kids to help him sing. Very disappointed. TK Soul made up for the disappointing minutes by delivering a Helluva engergic full of FIRE show rocking the whole coliseum. Calvin Richardson was last slowing it down and and taking it to the house. Wonderful show with lots of physical interaction with the crowd. His show started off a bit boring but ended up SO AMAZING!!!

I really enjoyed the concert. I wished Sir Charles would have performed more of his songs.

    Soulabration

by Lana on 1/1/19Mississippi Coliseum - Jackson

I thoroughly enjoyed all of the artist except Calvin Richardson. His voice quality did not come through as the others did and the music was too loud. I did not like the fact that he sang other folks songs first instead of his own. We left when he tried to sing Bobby Womack's song. Additionally, I originally thought that this event was a Blues show. I also thought that during the time the artists were getting ready they should have played blues songs not hip hop!

    Calvin Richardson concert sucked

by Jus4MsT on 7/25/18Cannery Hotel and Casino - Las Vegas

First it was billed as a R&B concert. They brought in this young kid singing rap and most of the people there could have been his parent. He was out of place. They wasted our time with a few singers we really didn't pay to see but they took up plenty of time singing 3 or 4 songs. Cupid and Pokey Bear was good. Calvin Richardson came out sung two song and it was a rap. I paid to see Calvin Richardson he was the headliner and what I got was a mess. The radio personality had the personality of a ball of lint. There was too much time wasted then they wanna come out and say they saw lighting. The tickets said rain or shine, yet when they assumed it was gonna rain they put us out. I am so disappointed in that company and also the Cannery. The DJ was ok but again ate up time we could have listened to the headliners. There was so many seats unsold which means it wasn't advertised. With all the empty seats they could have brought those people who were outside and brought them in and closed that big door and allowed Calvin Richardson to finish his set. This was bad. They also help up time bringing on Big Robb. If you wanted him to sing you could have replaced the kid rapper whom everybody stared at like he had leprosy. With all that cursing. I came to see grown folks sing. Not a young kid singing about bitches and hoes. Im too old for that. Bad on all sides.

Horrible Calvin Richardson got on the stage and sang two songs and the show was ended due to lightening no offer of refunds or any type of compensation. I was very disappointed I traveled from Maryland to Vegas to see Calvin Richardson

Pokey was amazing. I would love to see him anytime

by Redblessed on 7/20/18Cannery Hotel and Casino - Las Vegas

The show was great. I truly enjoyed myself. My favorite of all artist was Pokey then Gary, Coldrank, Dj Thump, Cupid. Calvin was okay a little stiff and not as lively as the others. Calvin time was cut short do to weather complications so maybe more time would of helped him.

This was worst concert that I have every attended. The sound was terrible, Calvin came out looking hot mess clothes was terrible and the band was louder than Calvin. Nothing good to say about this deep in Mississippi backyard concert.

Southern Soul Music Classic for the Grown & Sexy

by CeeGee2012 on 10/7/17Music Hall at Fair Park - Dallas

This was my 1st time seeing Calvin Richardson. He put on an excellent show. I would definitely see him again. The age group for this concert was around 40 and up. I was so embarrassed to see our people standing at the bottom of the stage like they were 21, trying to take his clothes off and snatch cd's. Seriously, you touched his hand now what? They had to get security to have em removed at a 40 and up concert. Other than that I recommend seeing him.
