Cage the Elephant put on an incredible show last night! I strongly suggest seeing them play!
The show was great once Cage the Elephant got on stage. I wasn't a huge fan of the two opening acts or the fact that Cage the Elephant didn't come on stage until 11:00, but it was definitely worth the wait. It was an awesome show. They are even better live.
Ah, they had two opening bands and they were both totally different and awesome. Of course Cage the Elephant was energetic and amazing. The lead singer crowd surfed twice, claiming that he felt like Rudolph the Red nosed Reindeer and wanted to join in on the Reindeer games. hahaha
The opening show was awesome, they had a great drummer. The second band was a crazy acid tripping music performance, which was really good. Cage the elephant, of course, was amazing!
Cage the Elephant was great! High energy all the way! The crowd loved them and they loved the crowd. The lead singer reminded me of a young Mick Jagger. The guitarists and the drummer were fantastic.
amazing when he croud surffed and stoud up and screamed and feel back that was great to see!!! they were more in your face rock then i accpeted and i loved it
Totally awesome! the 2nd and 3rd bands were kind of strange but still a totally awesome show! i can't wait for it to come around again! CAGE WAS AWESOME!!!!!!
If you want to see a great live punk rock performance go see Cage the Elephant. Matt Schultz is an incredible frontman and the whole band is tight. This is the best punk band since Nirvana.
This concert for chrones was amazing the point did it once again The prizes they raffled were great and the band that showed were amazing janus was at a booth signing autographs and taking pictures with all the fans then went on stage and rock pops for a solid hour followed by cage the elephant and what can i say they have the most energy ive ever seen the concert was the nut
opening bands were a little different and eccentric bur decent. Janus was great but Cage the elephant was MIND BLOWING!
Soooooo good! Im def going again!! Cage was amazing, TONS of energy!
Ok guys you have to see this band play...Not only do their songs rock, but the show they play is insane. Matt is ridiculous and honestly the best show I have ever see, and I have seen alot of shows. You dont know what a great rock show is until you have seen theses guys!
Before the show I was reading a critic's review of Cage the Elephant on their website. The critic said that frontman Matt Schultz had unbelievable stage energy. When i got to the show I thought the critic may have been exaggerating a little, until the very end. Matt stage dived at least ten times in the first four songs and was constantly running around stage. By the end of their sat, I remember thinking they were really good, but his energy level wasn't where i thought it would be. Then came the encore. Matt and the rest of Cage the Elephant ran back on stage singing In One Ear. During this song Matt launched himself into the crowd for probably the twentieth time. This time he stood straight up n the people's hands and walked across the to the rafts. He the grabbed on, swung his legs up and hung from the rafters by his legs while he sang. You couldn't even hear the music people were screaming so loud. It was incredible. The opening acts left a little (well, a lot) to be desired. The rest of the band also looked pretty stiff during the whole thing.
Really a great live performance. Tons of energy! had the crowd totally fired up...
This show was amazing. The first band was great, second band, very different style, but still good. The crowd didnt pick up until later, but everyone was really into the music. When Cage the Elephant came out, the energy was unmatchable to any other concert i have been to.
I have been in and constantly around and surrounded by music all my life. It is a lifesource of joy and expression that is unrivaled in its ability to slice through the chains of prejudice and preconception, and bring human beings together to share a unique experience. . .in this case, one that is unforgettable and points toward optimistic opportunity and joy, something we all need more of today. Being an older participant with my good friend Chet, I entered into the Bluebird arena just hoping that Cage could capture a sliver of their magic they have layed down on their first record, which would be an accomplishment for such a young, emerging band. Instead, from begining to end, they launched a jubilant nuclear weapon that radiated every frickin song and makes you want to come back to do it again. I have seen many incredible artists on 1st tours over the years that set you on your ass(R.E.M., U2, Bodeans, etc), and these guys have the goods. I described Cage's music as a cross between Mick Jagger and Jack White and dragged Chet to see the show. The mic for Matt's vocals was about the only item that needed to be addressed, which made it difficult to catch the lyrics, but the band was tuned in, tight, and there to deliver. Having toured England for 2 years, they are refinined and focused more than I thought they could be, but they are totally raw energy and performing is their business. Matt surfed the pit twice, even getting carried to the 2nd level for the encore. Brad leaped into the pit too to finish another song. The members of Morning Teleportation and Cage are all high school friends and they got that magical bond that doesn't last long in life, but for now the Journey is at an apex and translates perfectly into their performance. Seeing M.T. reminded me of early Jefferson Airplane, with no boundaries of where each song might lead. All these guys are incredibly personable and we partied at the Atomic Rooster after the show with them all. Thanks for including us in your journey. So, Michael & Chet can't wait to see you all again soon. We are definitely psyched about the next record release scheduled for March, 2010, and we know how excited they are about that too! Don't delay seeing these bands, this is a special time for these special friends, and you're invited!
A real high energy show that will get you excited. They have great material and are definitely worth the price of admission!
I thought the band was great but they could have used a better sound guy. The people puking and those getting kicked out put a little damper on the night.
The first two opening acts set the stage for a high-energy show. They both contained their share of colorful characters that behaved in odd, spastic ways. They were really competent and knew how to work up a crowd. Then came Cage the Elephant. This was their first show in Los Angeles, and you could tell that their fans knew it, because boy did they show their appreciation. Their fanbase is an impressively enthusiastic crowd, chanting along with the lyrics and dancing without inhibition. The band members took turns diving into the crowd, with the lead singer at one point standing upright while supported by the outstretched arms of his fans. Audience members were invited at the end of the show to climb onto the stage with the band and dance around. It was the most fun I've had at a concert in a long, long time.
Cage the Elephant is one of the best new bands out there today and they delivered a fantastic performance--their first in Los Angeles--at the El Rey. The lead singer has incredible energy, the songs are loaded with catchy choruses. It's rare to hear an album with more than one or two songs I like to listen to more than once, and their eponymous first album is loaded with great songs, which they delivered in fine style at the El Rey. Definitely catch this band before the singer blows out his voice entirely or they move on to much bigger venues.
