About

Cage the Elephant are a Grammy-winning rock band who formed in 2006. Originally hailing from Bowling Green, Kentucky, the group moved to London before sharing their self-titled debut in 2008. The band have released six studio albums that have all charted on the Billboard 200, including a career-best No. 2 debut for 2011’s Thank You, Happy Birthday. In total, Cage the Elephant have recorded 11 Top 20 singles on the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart such as “Come a Little Closer,” and “Cigarette Daydreams.” Meanwhile, the group has logged two Hot 100 singles: 2008’s “Ain't No Rest for the Wicked," which has been RIAA-certified six-times platinum, and 2010’s “Shake Me Down.” Cage the Elephant won Best Rock Album at the Grammy Awards for 2015’s Tell Me I'm Pretty, then won the same category for their 2019 follow-up Social Cues. Since 2017, Cage the Elephant’s lineup has consisted of vocalist Matt Shultz, guitarist Brad Shultz, bassist Daniel Tichenor, drummer Jared Champion, guitarist Nick Bockrath and keyboardist Matthan Minster.

  • Very good

by Nick on 10/31/25The Capitol Theatre - Port ChesterRating: 4 out of 5

Bands think that loader is better -it's not, Cage had the amps on 11 like the movie Spinal tap. The band, the songs, the performance was a 5+! Perhaps this is typical of the port Chester theater in Westchester NY?

  • GREAT Concert!

by Rick Stafford on 10/31/25The Capitol Theatre - Port ChesterRating: 5 out of 5

CTE are the real deal! Fantastic show from start to finish! They harken back to the glory days of old-school, punk rock! Even with a guitar-smashing on stage…an homage to the Clash or the Who??? Amazing to see a crowd with old-timers (like me) and youngsters…a tribute to the band’s broad appeal. I hope we’ll be hearing from them for many years to come!

  • Nothing but the best

by GSL on 10/30/25The Met Presented by Highmark - PhiladelphiaRating: 5 out of 5

First, our fifth time seeing Cage and they never disappoint. As always, all you can do is smile and sing along. There’s no one out there with the same stage presence as Matt Schultz. Brad is always having fun as well. The MET in Philly was first class. The Grand Salle lounge for $25 was a steal. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful

  • Awesome show

Awesome show—every song was so good! I’ve been listening to their music for years and their live performance did not disappoint!

  • Cage the Elephant at Anthem 10/26

by El Kabong on 10/29/25The Anthem - WashingtonRating: 3 out of 5

Cage the Elephant has great songs and I love to listen to their records but I was a bit disappointed by this concert. I had seen them in 2014 opening for the Black Keys and was impressed by frontman Matt Shultz and his Mick Jagger energy. In 2025 he still brings it, working the crowd and inciting sing-a-longs from the sold-out crowd on every song. I found his bandmates and the overall sound, however lacking and just didn't deliver the same vibe that I love in their records. I missed the first opening act, but caught about 20 minutes of the second act, and found them unremarkable. From the first song, Cage the Elephant came out literally blazing with fireballs shooting across the stage, but the sound was noisy, harsh and way too loud which really detracted from my enjoyment of the music. Granted, that's more a shortcoming of the sound tech than the band, but the guitar and keyboard effects were really unpleasant to my ears, and I'm a musician myself that likes loud guitars. The band played less than 90 minutes including the encore break. As a casual fan who has about 15 of their songs in my regular rotation on Spotify, I was surprised at how many songs I didn't know in the set. They saved all of the best stuff for the 2nd half of the show and I was disappointed at how many of my favorites were not played. As a headlining act, with 7 albums to pick from I would have expected a longer and better show but maybe that's why they haven't made the transition to playing larger venues.

  • Top 5 best live experiences ever

by Kdorsch on 10/29/25The Anthem - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

Energy 10/10, matt and the band are some of the best performers/live shows I’ve ever been to, seen them 3 times now!! If you wanna dance and sing your heart out go see them, trust me

  • Great show

    by Mike H on 10/29/25The Anthem - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

Cage the Elephant put on a great show. They played lots of their hits from all of their albums.

  • Better than expected

by Stetz on 10/29/25The Anthem - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

Bought tickets only knowing about 7 songs. Listed to some of the catalog the week leading up to the show expecting to like 12/20 they were going to play. But they were AMAZING!!! Much better than anything I had expected. So much energy from the band. And the live songs had so much more pace and power than the recorded versions. They just earned themselves a new fan that will be going to see them anytime they come back to the DMV.

  • Great show, awesome venue!

by Halea on 10/29/25The Anthem - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

Cage the Elephant always puts on an amazing show! Great venue, clean and seemed safe. Theirs lines were very quick for drinks! Wish there was more parking offered though.

  • Incredible

  • Excellent

by LvMuzik on 10/29/25The Anthem - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

Great show, energy and venue! Would love to see more of them in the future

  • Far exceeded expectations!

by PJinPA on 10/28/25The Met Presented by Highmark - PhiladelphiaRating: 5 out of 5

I’ve seen CTE twice before in a huge outdoor venue, and they were spectacular. The first time, I didn’t know any of their music and was blown away by the show. I immediately became a huge fan. The concert in Philadelphia was so much more intimate and a whole lot of fun. Everyone in the audience was on their feet and singing along joyfully all night long. If you’re a fan of their music, nothing can compare to experiencing it live. The band is so obviously having a blast that it’s contagious. Matt Shultz is a total performer, with more energy and charisma than should be legal. And the band’s performance is tight, brilliantly capturing the complex character of each of their songs. The concert far exceeded expectations!

  • Love the energy from this band

by Tracy on 10/28/25The Met Presented by Highmark - PhiladelphiaRating: 5 out of 5

I have seen many concerts and Cage is one of the most energetic and fun shows. I love seeing them and their music. Can't wait to see them again. Splurged and bought box seats - best decision ever so that I didn't need fight the crowd.

  • Amazing Time

by Mark on 10/28/25Ovation Hall at Ocean Casino Resort - Atlantic CityRating: 5 out of 5

Venue is awesome. We were in GA and it's a similar set up as the Event Center at Borgata, but the sound is much clearer. It's not overwhelming. The video boards are great as well. Whoever was directing this masterful as they showed the concert in black and white, but cut in between cool angles. Cage the Elephant were amazing. Matt Schultz didn't stop moving. He was somehow able to carry a note while jumping in the air, it was pretty impressive. The band sounded awesome too. Great night to remember. 10/10

  • One heck of a show

by Gammadt on 10/28/25The Met Presented by Highmark - PhiladelphiaRating: 5 out of 5

I can't tell you how many times I have seen them live but they were great at the Met. It's nice to see him off the scooter like last year. Now there's even more dancing and fun on stage.

  • One of the best bands to watch live

by Gail on 10/28/25Ovation Hall at Ocean Casino Resort - Atlantic CityRating: 5 out of 5

I love cage the elephant, it was my third time watching them live and they never disappoint. Their energy is amazing.

  • Great night: Matt’s energy is truly unbeatable

by JoulesUndJewels on 10/28/25Ovation Hall at Ocean Casino Resort - Atlantic CityRating: 5 out of 5

The openers were great, Matt and the entire band are incredible and super energetic, House of Glass and Sabertooth Tiger back to back is the greatest decision ever made by mankind. Would literally buy a ticket just to see those two songs performed again. Everything started on time, everything was well organized, maybe a little too much security, but overall 10/10

  • BLEW THE ROOF OFF THE JOINT

by FREDDIE DIAMOND on 10/28/25The Met Presented by Highmark - PhiladelphiaRating: 5 out of 5

GREAT BAND, GREAT VENUE, GREAT NIGHT, GREAT FRIENDS! OH, AND BEER!!! HA!!!

  • Always an amazing show.

by kmbennet on 10/28/25The Met Presented by Highmark - PhiladelphiaRating: 5 out of 5

This has been the 7th time we've seen Cage the Elephant and is always an amazing show. The lead singer and the band members always give a exceptional performace. The venue at the Met in Philly was perfect for GA and I think was the best venue we have seen them. Will be back to see them again hopefully at the Met.

  • Amazing performers!
