About

As part of their 50th Anniversary Season, the critically acclaimed and award-winning Roundabout Theatre Company is proud to present SAM MENDES (Skyfall, American Beauty) and ROB MARSHALL’S (Into the Woods and Chicago, the films) Tony Award-winning production of CABARET.

Welcome to the infamous Kit Kat Klub, where the Emcee, Sally Bowles, and a raucous ensemble take the stage nightly to tantalize the crowd––and to leave their troubles outside. But as life in pre-WWII Germany grows more and more uncertain, will the decadent allure of Berlin nightlife be enough to get them through their dangerous times?

Come hear some of the most memorable songs in theatre history, including “Cabaret,” “Willkommen” and “Maybe This Time.” Leave your troubles outside – life is beautiful at CABARET, JOHN KANDER, FRED EBB and JOE MASTEROFF’s Tony-winning musical about following your heart while the world loses its way.

    Fabulous show

by ReviewerWi on 3/7/17Fox Cities PAC - Appleton

Cabaret was a wonderful performance! Actors, actresses, singing, all absolutely top shelf. A moving story set in a dismal time brightened bt excellent musical score and performances. Don't miss it if you have the chance!

The classic cabaret - would not miss!!

by Parasiticpest on 3/6/17Fox Cities PAC - Appleton

Iconic choreography, true to original sam Mendes roots. Lots of neat little touches, like having actors warm up on stage before the show opens, and interacting with audience a little bit. Lots of tension in the characters and setting - you feel the fear and unease settle in well before you realize why.

Gritty brilliant - more relevant today..

by captbmx on 3/4/17Fox Cities PAC - Appleton

If you were brought up on the glitzy glamorous Liza with a Z Cabaret, you will be pleased that this Sam Mendes production is gritty and authentic. We are taken back in time to a seedy Berlin nightspot, more realistic than I've ever seen. If you are offended by bare bums, legs opening and closing like a saloon door, don't go!The band intertwined with the cast is really effective and they all give a flawless performance. Jon Peterson is wonderful as the Emcee and Leigh ANN gives a haunting visceral performance. The struggle between Herr Schultz and Fraulein Schneider is also poignant and relevant today, even more than it was when Kander and Ebb first wrote this piece. My only peeve - there wasn't an encore, felt like the cast was saying thank you and goodnight, fed up with touring already even though it was their First night but I guess Appleton is not New York! Also another peeve was the fact it took 40 minutes to get out of PAC car park, otherwise cracking evening! Great seats in the dress circle.

    Caberet - Awesome

by JoanieShaw on 3/4/17Fox Cities PAC - Appleton

This was our first experience at the PAC. The show was absolutely amazing. The performers were in credible and very talented as they each participated in acting, singing, dance and instruments. It was such an amazing performance that has inspired us to attend future shows. I hope anything in the future will be able to compare to this show.

    Catch Cabaret Today!

by LollyWawers on 3/2/17Au-Rene Theater at the Broward Center - Ft Lauderdale

Cabaret was an unforgettable performance filled with flair, talent, and dare I say, racy humor. It was like no other show I've ever seen. The storyline makes the audience feel sad, elated, peeved, and relieved. Cabaret is a once-in-a-lifetime performance that needs to be checked off one's bucket list. Stellar!

Overall, a great performance. The ensemble was entertaining and the leads were powerful, especially the Emcee. He played the role perfectly and had great energy. Of course, the music is classic 'Cabaret' and is always enjoyable. My eyes were glued to the stage throughout the entirety of the show; engaging and well executed performance. Highly recommended!

This show is better and better

by Cookiebun on 2/15/17Boston Opera House - Boston

This was the second time I've seen this show from this touring company. I saw them opening weekend over a year ago. The show this time was exponentially better. I enjoyed it the first time, but after a year, the show just seemed bigger and better. The stage just seemed to be having fun, and I could feel the emotions during the darker times. The music and singing was phenomenal. Randy Harrison as the Emcee was fantastic. His time on the stage was stunning and watching him stalk around when he wasn't in the scene was equally grabbing. This was the beginning for a "new" Sally and she was brilliant. I was thrown by the blond hair, but once I got used to that (really didn't take too long lol) I was absorbed right into the feeling of the show. I felt like I was a part of it. The ending of the show is just so powerful, I could see this again and think I would still find little things to grab my attention and make it feel new again.

    Cabaret: totally worth it!

by Felicityinblack on 2/15/17Boston Opera House - Boston

I organized my trip from Italy so that I could see this incredible production and it was totally worth it! I had read lots of great reviews, but none prepared me for the real impact with this powerful musical. The music was incredibly enthralling and the stage lighting was dramatically used. The whole cast was simply amazing, all of them are 100% invested in dancing and singing! But the real treat was Randy Harrison's Emcee! I think that Randy nailed his character perfectly, giving a great rendition of a witty, raunchy, sexy, ubiquitous master of ceremony who is on stage for almost the whole time... Even when he's not the "center of the action", he's physically dominating the scene, by simply looking over the stage and the characters playing at that moment. I was at the theatre both Friday night and Saturday afternoon and had two different great points of view: one from second row and one from the mezzanine. I think that in order to really appreciate the show and catch all the details along with the “whole picture” you have to see it at least twice from different seats! The Boston Opera House was also a great location, a beautiful theatre with a perfect acoustic. All together it was a great experience!

    Amazing!

by Ju311 on 2/15/17Boston Opera House - Boston

Cabaret was absolutely amazing. This is a great production of this well known piece of literature and it couldn't be more relevant in this day and age. The musical numbers are awesome and hard to forget even after leaving the theater! Randy Harrison as the Emcee is superb. He owns this role and shines in every scene and every song. Couldn't recommend this more. A total must see!

Message Within Cabaret (Touring) Never Grows Old!

by Peerssa on 2/15/17Boston Opera House - Boston

My wife and I were pleased with the production of Cabaret (Touring) as presented at the Boston Opera House. The themes and the overriding message within the play were forcefully delivered by the more than capable cast members. The Emcee, played by Randy Harrison, adroitly drew you into the seedy Kit Kat Club with the beautiful and talented Kit Kat girls and boys which provided the perfect counterpoint to the "real-world" events and the approach of the human tragedy that swirled around the club. The message was timeless and well worth attending to in any age or era. To borrow from the opening lines of the play, the set was "Beautiful", the actors were "Beautiful" and the Orchestra was "Beautiful". Go and enjoy!

    Excellent

by Revvey on 2/15/17Boston Opera House - Boston

Cabaret was great! Lots of energy, excellent performers, very well done. The scenery was beautiful. Loved how the orchestra was part of the set because it allowed us to see them play as well as hear them!!!! This is our second recent visit to the Boston Opera House, having seen "Something Rotten" there recently. Loved both times. The Theatre is beautiful, the ushers are extremely helpful when looking for our seats, answering questions. It's a long, long drive for us to come down from New Hampshire, but it's worth it.

    A ratcheted-up Cabaret

by coc1 on 2/15/17Boston Opera House - Boston

This production had many elements of Weimar Republic decadence and many references to the threat of Nazi assumption of power, ending in a dismaying blitz. The show was repulsive, electrifying, and fascinating in a Brechtian way. The political commentary had frightening connections to the present, which made the disturbing production more interesting and worthwhile than just another banal musical.

    Not worth the ticket

by CoupleDoyles on 2/14/17Boston Opera House - Boston

I am not sure if it was the lack luster dance moves or the overall apathetic expressions and body language of the performers, but this iteration of Cabaret left me regretting the ticket price. While I understand the theme and setting of the musical, the direction left us yawning and also apathetic.

    Cabaret doesn't disappoint

by Dawnm90 on 2/14/17Boston Opera House - Boston

I very much enjoyed the performance. While I did find the first act to be a little long, in the end I was moved to tears given the political climate today. The cast was excellent. We very much enjoyed the performance.

A Wonderful Way to Spend an Afternoon

by BroadwayOverdose on 2/14/17Boston Opera House - Boston

The Roundabout Theater Company's production of Cabaret is a fantastic theatrical experience. I attended "Cabaret" IN NYC about 25 years ago and truly enjoyed the show. This production, however, had me giggling with delight from the opening scene. The cast nailed their roles from the frivolity of the Kit Kat Girls and Boys to the serious and horrific reality of the beginning of the Nazi Era in Germany. The effect of the Nazi's influence on relationships, religious persecution of the Jews, and the persecution of gays was an apparent theme. The final scene, with the Emcee, makes a strong impact. I truly enjoyed attending this production and recommend you attend. The show has everything that makes Broadway magical and transporting.
