It's always very impressive when a single actor and a single stage set can hold your undivided attention for 90 minutes. That's exactly what Max McLean did as he sat and walked around the stage. His performance as C. S. Lewis was compelling and brilliant.
I enjoyed it! I thought that it was supposed to be a longer time than 1 hour 30 minutes. Overall, it was pretty good!
This performance by Max McLean during "Further Up and Further In"was exceptional!! By far one if the best and most thought provoking performance I've been to in a long time! I would highly recommend anyone to attend this or any additional shows by this group!
Truly impressive for one man to portray Lewis in his own words for 90 mins. Really enjoyed the after show talk with the actor. That was an unexpected bonus.
I wish I could have been able to film this production! There was so much great content on how to share the Gospel I couldn't remember it all. Great ideas on how to kindly share our faith. Glad to hear they will be providing the script in the future so I can review it more thoroughly. The place was packed!!
A PERFECT Production. GENIUS writing. Max McLean is SUPERB, again ! A TONY AWARD WINNING STYLE TOUR DE FORCE OF ACTING ! MAX MCLEAN DESERVES THE NOMINATION & THE WIN ! [Additionally, set design, staging, music, sound & special visual effects were all astounding.] ****
This is a magnificent performance from Max McLean as C S Lewis, really enjoyed the way he weaved the words of Lewis into a script. If you’ve always loved/admired the works of Lewis, don’t miss this if you have a chance to see it!
Further Up Further In was an excellent performance as always by FPA! Very entertaining and inspiring!
My wife & any 2 of our college age grandsons attended the play Sunday April 7th. We made an afternoon of it, having dinner first & then attending the play. The entire production was well done. We all enjoyed the humor & thought provoking wisdom of C.S. Lewis. His opinions are spot on even today, & timeless. I would recommend that every young person possible see this.... it's a great counter-balance to what is blindly presented as "truth"today.
Very inspiring performance. Motivates me to read CS Lewis writings again.
The humor mixed with Christian teachings and so many intellectual opinions of Lewis, that I needed more time to absorb it all. Further Up & Further In was a masterful production and I was glad that we stayed for the discussion time afterwards.
We enjoyed seeing Max McLean as C.S. Lewis last Sunday. Mr. McLean has has a wonderfully beautiful voice and it was a pleasure just to hear him talk. On top of that the stage set and lighting added to the experience. But best of all was the C.S. Lewis story. I have read several of the Lewis books, both fiction and theological and saw the film, The Most Reluctant Convert. This stage presentation, Further Up & Further In, was a great addition to understanding Mr. Lewis' story and maybe a deeper understanding of his books. Mr McLean came back to the stage after the performance and talked a little about the play and then answered some questions from the audience. It was a great experience!
Excellent play , the portrayal of Lewis was uncanny as if it was really him having a conversation with the audience. Five stars!
Awesome thought provoking show! Loved it A wonderful preforance
Best production I've seen on stage in several years!
I thoroughly enjoyed this presentation of CS Lewis and various aspects of his theology. It felt like we were interacting with him as he shared different experiences and stories. After watching it, I wanted to reread some of his books and read the ones I haven’t read already. The show was inspiring, challenging and entertaining.
A phenomenal play and a wonderful look into the genius mind of CS Lewis. There is SO much to unpack with this one that the provided study guide and transcript is a welcome addition. FPA has continued its trend of great, thought provoking plays that both entertain, but touch something of some depth.
The one man play was amazingly well done. It is something all Christians should see.
The script was well done and expertly weaved in C.S. Lewis's writings. The intelligent and thought provoking material was sublimely conveyed by Max Mclean to the audience. The set and background screen added to the experience.
