    Great performance

by MimiG on 6/27/23DeVos Performance Hall - Grand Rapids

Max Mclean did a masterful job as both writer and actor! It was well worth our time and money to be reminded in such a beautiful presentation of what God did in the life of C.S. Lewis.

    Great thought provoking show

by Mike D on 6/27/23DeVos Performance Hall - Grand Rapids

We loved Max mcLean and how real he made CS Lewis. The story line is fantastic and real. To see how he became a Christian the thoughts that prompted his drive to write stories from it is a clear sign of the Lord working and using the heart of a person. Fantastic!

    C.S. Lewis

by Steven on 6/27/23DeVos Performance Hall - Grand Rapids

Have been a fan of C.S. Lewis for many years and thought the program was exceptional. I am a retired elementary teacher and principal and I have read "The Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe" many, many times to my students. Having been in public education we couldn't go too deeply into the symbolism, but deeply enough so the kids had a good idea of what Lewis was illustrating.

    Amazing

by Flo on 5/17/23Clowes Memorial Hall - Indianapolis

Max McClean and the Fellowship for Performing Arts did an amzgin job of presenting the life, values and theology of CS Lewis after his conversion to Christianity. Watching it made us feel as if we were in the room with Lewis "picking his brain." Additionally, the graphics were phenominal and the script included many important quotes from Lewis's writings.

    Amazing Perfomance

by JJ on 5/16/23Clowes Memorial Hall - Indianapolis

Max McLean did an incredible job portraying C.S. Lewis! You felt like you were sitting there with Lewis himself. The digital back drop was incredible. This is our second performance with Mac McLean & we hope to see many more.

    Captivating

    by L. W. on 5/16/23Clowes Memorial Hall - Indianapolis

Max captured the character of C.S. Lewis spot on! LOVED it all, the art on the screen, the transitions between scenes and the subtle humor. I hung on every word as he brought in many of his books. Just fantastic how Max put it all together in a compelling powerful production.

Very poor venue for actor's commendable effort

by Katie on 5/16/23Clowes Memorial Hall - Indianapolis

Both the ushers and the audience continued to distract with obnoxious behaviors throughout the performance. The ushers came and went with bright flashlights to seat latecomers. That activity continued almost to the end of the performance. Even when they weren't escorting a late arriving audience member, the ushers kept opening and closing the doors in the rear, allowing bright light to stream in and distract from the performance. Audience members were slurping beverages and rustling paper (candy? popcorn? -- I have no idea.). Why on earth does Clowes Hall place cup holders on the backs of each seat? By doing so they encourage a sports-event atmosphere. The play itself was well-delivered but ill-conceived. The writings and thinking of C.S. Lewis are very dense and heady. It is extremely difficult to absorb that kind of information on one hearing from what was essentially a talking head.

Show was great, venue had some hiccups

    by s. T. on 5/16/23Clowes Memorial Hall - Indianapolis

Clowes Hall opened the doors late (10 minutes after start time) and rushed people in. Not the atmosphere needed for such a thoughtful show.

Loved "The Most Reluctant Convert" story

by Vicki on 5/16/23Clowes Memorial Hall - Indianapolis

I was already a big C. S. Lewis fan, but this made me want to read all his books again. If you haven't read them, grab a big cup of your favorite coffee or tea, find a quiet spot, and get started! It is well worth the time!
