    Love it

by RubyBlu on 11/12/13Howard Theater - Washington

I've seen Burlesque-A-Pades at least 5 times! It was fun to see it at a new venue like the Howard. Every one of their (BurlesqueApades) shows is great and they are always making it new and fresh! It's top quality burlesque and variety. I love this show and would say if you are going to see a burlesque show, make it this one!!!

Fun time was had by all

by DupontCircleCodger on 5/28/13Howard Theatre - Washington

The mixed-age and -race audience at the Howard Theatre was loudly appreciative of this brief recreation of Burlesque. Could have used more comics and should have had a tassle-twirler, but was enjoyable.

Funny in places, cringeworthy in others, on the whole I was embarrased to have suggested the show to my friends.

The dancers were great, but it was too many breaks in between the performances.

    Valentine's Day with BURLESQUE-A-PADES

by Cachafo on 2/16/13Birchmere - Alexandria

It was a great show. The price was right for this event; Please do not raise the price. The performers showed grace and class, which I like to see in any show. Sincerely, Julio

Campy burlesque fun! The girls are curvy, the band is great and the host is funny. When you hear the word "burlesque" you might think it's indecent, but it's really more like a variety show...where some beautiful ladies tempt and tease as they strip down to their skivvies. Very tastefully done and mixed in with a lot of humor. It's what I imagine an authentic burlesque show from years gone by to be.

Happy I took my husband to this show

    by Robyn12 on 2/16/12Birchmere - Alexandria

Cute show! The band was amazing, emcee was very funny if you don't mind sexual humor. The dancers were sexy, the food was decent. I would definitely go again!

    Evening of laughter

by PrinceValiantsWife on 2/16/12Birchmere - Alexandria

My husband and I wanted to do something different for Valentines day and boy was this different. At first, I was hesitant about a burlesque show, because I wasn't sure whether it would be vulgar or just risque. It turned out to be the latter. The band was fantastic and would have been worth seeing without the rest of the show. They had the best bass fiddle player I have ever heard. The heart of the show was the MC and a running joke was "is he a he or a she", his/her response was both. At the end of the day, the only thing that mattered was that he/she was hilarious and did an outstanding job of running the show. There were three primary dancers plus a new addition to the act was a dancer who used hula hoops as a prop. Two of the dancers were clearly trained in dance and one had ballet training. She did one of her strip routines en pointe. Another did a tap dance routine, that was very good. Another of the three appeared to be new to the group and her act was a little rough around the edges, but I'm sure she will continue to work on a smooth routine. Bottomline, the show was risque but not vulgar and it was an extremely fun evening, plus the Birchmere is a great venue with good food.

    Thumbs UP!

by RubyBlu on 1/25/12Birchmere - Alexandria, VA

I love this show, so glad it is coming back to town this year! I have been a fan of the Pontani Sisters for some time now and I love their full stage shows. We go to this event every year (except once when it sold out before we got tickets). We bring a big group of friends and everyone enjoys the show. It's classy burlesque plus comedy and great music. It's one of the best burlesque shows I have ever seen!

    Just Too Little

by CDCollector on 2/18/11Birchmere - Alexandria

Individually, the acts in this show were good, but as a whole, there was much too much repitition. There were dancing strip acts, singing strip acts, and tap dancing strip acts. Maybe three of each. There were two that were really good. The others were just good. The MC shouted into the microphone, but his strip act was better than the ladies'. And I'm a straight man. The jokes were good, but again, too much of the same. The fire-breather had two tricks. He performed them over and over again in different positions at varying degrees of speed. Ho-hum. The ten minute intermission was more like 20 or 25, yet the show was well under two hours start to finish. This act comes to the Birchmere every year, but seeing it once is more than enough.

    A Selection of Sexy Treats!

by idletime on 2/17/11Birchmere - Alexandria

Burlesque-A-Pades offers a surprising range of entertainment. I have the vague feeling that it's improved over the show I saw at the Birchmere a couple of years ago. ** Keep your eye on the MC -- you will be surprised, I was very pleasantly. What he pulled off with his "card trick" was shortly after I'd suggested something like just that (no spoilers here) and a nice twist to the show. - Ms. Angie P. was a lovely treat in a very classic style; elegant and smooth - Ms. Tickle had several of my group talking. Excellent range -- the teaching book was a scream and the act with the feathers was etheral while still pleasing the man in group alot. - Ms. Helen P. was very game and held her own in the sister number. Its a tough group to compare dance talent with even with tapping addition. - Ms. Melody Sweet - great voice, very distracting costumes, nice looking -- you barely notice that she basically just walks around. Excellent misdirection. - Ms Dangerous -- great dancing but I felt like I'd got trapped with a mime; I would have said it was too arsty and not bouncy enough but a later act played well even with out the bounce -- guess it was just the mime thing for me.
