    Enjoyed the show

by REC on 11/2/22Charline McCombs Empire Theatre - San Antonio

The show started out slow but gained momentum! Buddy Holly character did an amazing job as did the rest of the cast. We were impressed by all of the cast. Very disappointed that there were no Play Bills handed out and we were not able to get any names for the cast so we could identify them by name so we could rate each individually. The energy of the cast was unbelievable and we would have like to have been able to rave about them. Enjoyed the show but it did have a very slow start. Overall great show!! Made us miss the 3 even more. The Day the Music Died really hit home at the end. Great cast!!

We enjoyed the show with the music.

by Bob on 11/2/22Charline McCombs Empire Theatre - San Antonio

It was slow at the beginning and picked up with a great finish.Just wish that Richie Valens would have sung (Diana) also as that was one of my favorite tunes back in the day. I was lucky to have seen Buddy perform back in 1968 at Muskegon, MI.

    Fantastic

by Dawn Elizabeth M. on 11/2/22Charline McCombs Empire Theatre - San Antonio

My family and I loved it so much! Very entertaining and a learning experience for the kids. There is no comparison to anything else-it was a play, a musical, a concert, and so very well done. I recommend to anyone for an evening of relaxing, exhilerating entertainment!

    Intimate Performance

by Abigail on 11/2/22Charline McCombs Empire Theatre - San Antonio

Good presentation of Buddy Holly story. Most of the actors had several different roles which they each performed well. The lead actor was very charming, sang well with surprising acrobatics/choreography. The old theater was just lovely and very comfortable. Sound was good. I thoroughly enjoyed the evening. Only complaint, no playbill listing name of actors.

    Buddy Holly

by Alan B on 11/2/22Charline McCombs Empire Theatre - San Antonio

Great Show. Outstanding talent. The cast gave it their all. Although I know this show by heart, I did miss not having a program, at least to know the actors. Buddy was a little high strung at times, and the hair styles were a distraction, but overall great show

    A Total Blast!

This show was fabulous! Just like an extra long Buddy Holly concert. Final scene of Clear Lake Concert was enough to blow your mind! Great performance!

    Great Show

by Baby Boomer 1946 on 11/1/22Charline McCombs Empire Theatre - San Antonio

The story line actually followed the time line of Buddy Holly's musical career. Thought the singing and acting was very good. I only wish Richie Valens song "Donna" a million seller was included in the show. I was 13 years old when Buddy Holly, Richie Valents and the Big Bopper died in the plane crash. Bought the memories of that sad day.

    AMAZING TALENT!!!

by Vicki on 11/1/22Charline McCombs Empire Theatre - San Antonio

This group of musicians are fabulous! There is so much talent, they all act, sing and play multiple instruments. The young man that played Buddy Holly was so much fun to watch. It was much better than I expected and they all deserve the highest praise! The only down side would be when they changed the role they were playing it would take me a few minutes to figure out they were "somebody else" then who they were portraying in a previous scene. With a small crew multiple parts were required of all the actors (except Buddy) and is perfectly understandable. I can't say enough about this show, it was just so much fun to watch!

    The buddy holly story

by Louanne on 10/22/22Landmark Theatre - Syracuse

Everything about the show was wonderful. However, I will not be purchasing anymore tickets through Ticketmaster. Ours were $373 the couple behind us went to the box office and paid $140. Totally unacceptable!

    Good tunes

by GinnyB on 10/19/22The Stanley - Utica

Cute show. Enjoyed hearing all the old songs. Actors made a great effort to entertain. Price was way too high for value of the show.

    Expected So Much More

by Strac on 10/19/22Landmark Theatre - Syracuse

In addition to the technical sound difficulties, the show seemed disjointed and not up to or being billed as a Broadway Series show. The acting seemed stiff and forced.

    It doesn't get any better!

    by B. B. on 10/19/22The Stanley - Utica

The charismatic ensemble cast, skilled vocals & instrumentation, colorful costumes, energetic choreography, abundant comedy plus interactive audience enthusiasm combine to show why "Buddy" has endured for 3 decades. Its timeless score and nonstop energy for a modest cost equals the experience of extravaganzas that have become too expensive for many patrons to indulge in live theater. "Buddy" overflows with immersive characters, story and classic music: pure joy! ,

Really enjoyed the show - definitely worth seeing.

by Watash on 10/19/22The Stanley - Utica

We had booked 4 seats in balcony. At will call pick up, there was a problem. Our tickets had already been scanned in. We were finally settled in the center of the pit area, which was fantastic! The characterizations were excellent as was the music. One criticism was the missing "Oh Donna" by Richie Valens. The second complaint is re the lack of a program or at least a hand bill identifying performers and their backgrounds. Overall, a great evening!

    Satisfied

by Rose on 10/19/22The Stanley - Utica

I was over all satisfied, but a little disappointed . The final acts were the best. The sound wasn’t always what I felt it should have been. The acoustics were not the best, I’ve attended others at the Stanley and the acoustics were better. But overall it was good and an enjoyable event.’

    It doesn't get any better!

    by B. B. on 10/19/22The Stanley - Utica

The multi-talented ensemble, vocal & instrumental expertise, choreography, costuming and comedy combine for audience interaction and enthusiasm. No wonder the show has run 3 decades! It's timeless for all! Whereas extravaganzas now cost a fortune, "Buddy" fulfills one's needs for inspired entertainment at a modest ticket price.
