BRUNO MARS IN CONCERT
Classic showmanship in the vein of James Brown and Michael Jackson is alive and well, and Bruno Mars is here to prove it. Mars takes the stage with The Hooligans, a tightly choreographed nine-piece soul band that serves as the perfect representation of his commitment to the live experience – a commitment that led to his selection as the halftime performer at Super Bowl XLVIII. A classic song-and-dance man and multi-platinum selling pop star, Mars references everyone from Prince to The Police in both his image and sound, but the result is more than mere imitation; as a songwriter and producer, he has successfully combined the sounds of his pop idols with reggae and hip hop to create a new generation of genre-crossing hits. In anticipation of his Super Bowl performance, fans can get tickets to catch Bruno Mars in concert on 2013’s Moonshine Jungle Tour.
BRUNO MARS BACKGROUND
Mars was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii, where he gained his first exposure to music playing rock and Motown covers in his family’s band, The Love Notes. By age five, the Elvis Presley impersonations he performed with the band had gained him a reputation on the island and landed him a cameo in the 1992 film Honeymoon in Vegas. After high school, Mars moved to Los Angeles to pursue music, finding initial success as a member of The Smeezingtons, the writing and production team behind Flo Rida’s 2009 hit “Right Round.” His first success as a solo artist came in 2010 with “Nothing On You,” a collaboration with rapper B.o.B. that peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and earned the duo several Grammy nominations. Mars’ debut album, 2010’s Doo-Wops & Hooligans, landed at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 and contained two worldwide No. 1 hits with “Grenade” and feel-good ballad “Just The Way You Are,” which nabbed him his first Grammy (Best Male Pop Vocal Performance). Sophomore album Unorthodox Jukebox (2012) was an even bigger success, peaking at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and spawning the ubiquitous hits “Locked Out of Heaven” and “When I Was Your Man.”

Bruno Mars out of this world
by GrenadeGirl on 12/24/10Neal S Blaisdell Arena - HonoluluRating: 4 out of 5Enjoyed the warm up acts. Got good seats through Ticketmaster. Bruno Mars played a lot of songs without any stopping to change clothes. Kept the audience on their feet. I sang along, screamed and danced the whole time. Here's the NEGATIVE: I was in Row 16 which is the last row of Section CC, but there was a row of wheelchaired people sitting behind us. Since they couldn't stand, they couldn't see a thing. They kept bugging us to sit down, but we can't see anything if the rows before us don't sit down either. the wheelchair people should have been seated along the side risers instead. Bruno Mars show needed a big screen/projector.

Bruno Mars, Great Entertainer
by MMLF on 12/22/10Neal S Blaisdell Arena - HonoluluRating: 5 out of 5Bruno Mars's concert was absolutely great! His stage setup was very simple but put on a fantastic show. He sounded great unlike some artists who don't sound at all like their recordings. He was also funny and played the crowd well!

Bruno Mars was AMAZING!
by Anonymous on 12/22/10Neal S Blaisdell Arena - HonoluluRating: 4 out of 5I loved both the opening and main performance altogether! Bruno Mars was very entertaining and fun! The opening performance was fun. The songs were catchy and it was nice incorporating dances with them, but it was weird that they danced in awkward places on the stage (like behind the singers or on either side). Other than that, the whole show was fun!

Bruno was incredible!
by XtinaEliza on 12/21/10Neal S Blaisdell Arena - HonoluluRating: 5 out of 5The entire concert from start to finish was amazing! The Love Notes opened for Bruno and they made older songs that are not in the mainstream today, enjoyable for everyone of any age. The dancers brought a wonderful visual to the stage and the performers were outstanding. Bruno took our breath away with his emotional singing and performing, always keep everyone smiling and screaming. Great concert and even though our seats were all the way in the nose bleeds, his energy filled us as if we were in the front row.
bruno--your amazing
by brmfan on 12/21/10Neal S Blaisdell Arena - HonoluluRating: 5 out of 5Hawaii has a lot to proud of in Bruno Mars...what a talent. Old soul in a young man. Love the variety and range in his music! Love hearing the old songs that inspired the new songs. I got a tears in my eyes when he got choked up on his encore rendition of I'll remember you, Can't wait to see him on the Grammy's.
Bruno was FABULOUS live!
by spacedog1 on 12/21/10Neal S Blaisdell Arena - HonoluluRating: 5 out of 5I loved the way he performed every song including the ones that he could only really do the chorus for. I loved how truly moved he was throughout the performance to hear the audience in his hometown singing his songs back to him. He is a big star now - but mark my words - he will stick around for a long time and be an UBER big star! I love Bruno!
Great show!
by kmgt on 12/21/10Neal S Blaisdell Arena - HonoluluRating: 5 out of 5Bruno Mars in front of the hometown crowd was just amazing! He played all the songs people were expecting, and then threw in some unexpected jams. It was a performance full of energy!

Bruno was good ...
by CWahine on 12/21/10Neal S Blaisdell Arena - HonoluluRating: 3 out of 5Bruno can sing and he and his band were great. The sound - acoustics - in the Blaisdell was not particularly great and where we were is was just LOUD. Love Notes were OK but had no idea they were opening for Bruno ... rather corny.
Bruno Mars in Hawaii
by ppz808 on 12/21/10Neal S Blaisdell Arena - HonoluluRating: 5 out of 5The concert was awesome! He sounds just like his CD and I'm not being biased because he's a local boy. It was nice his dad entertained us as the opening act. No dramatic dress changes and no breaks ... he sang the whole way through!
