BRUNO MARS IN CONCERT
Classic showmanship in the vein of James Brown and Michael Jackson is alive and well, and Bruno Mars is here to prove it. Mars takes the stage with The Hooligans, a tightly choreographed nine-piece soul band that serves as the perfect representation of his commitment to the live experience – a commitment that led to his selection as the halftime performer at Super Bowl XLVIII. A classic song-and-dance man and multi-platinum selling pop star, Mars references everyone from Prince to The Police in both his image and sound, but the result is more than mere imitation; as a songwriter and producer, he has successfully combined the sounds of his pop idols with reggae and hip hop to create a new generation of genre-crossing hits. In anticipation of his Super Bowl performance, fans can get tickets to catch Bruno Mars in concert on 2013’s Moonshine Jungle Tour.
BRUNO MARS BACKGROUND
Mars was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii, where he gained his first exposure to music playing rock and Motown covers in his family’s band, The Love Notes. By age five, the Elvis Presley impersonations he performed with the band had gained him a reputation on the island and landed him a cameo in the 1992 film Honeymoon in Vegas. After high school, Mars moved to Los Angeles to pursue music, finding initial success as a member of The Smeezingtons, the writing and production team behind Flo Rida’s 2009 hit “Right Round.” His first success as a solo artist came in 2010 with “Nothing On You,” a collaboration with rapper B.o.B. that peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and earned the duo several Grammy nominations. Mars’ debut album, 2010’s Doo-Wops & Hooligans, landed at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 and contained two worldwide No. 1 hits with “Grenade” and feel-good ballad “Just The Way You Are,” which nabbed him his first Grammy (Best Male Pop Vocal Performance). Sophomore album Unorthodox Jukebox (2012) was an even bigger success, peaking at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and spawning the ubiquitous hits “Locked Out of Heaven” and “When I Was Your Man.”

I AM CRAZY ABT BRUNO'S SHOW!! BUT I DONT LIKE HANELLE MONAE AND FROM THE RESPONSE OF THE AUDIENTS, I THINK THEY ALSO DO NOT LIKE HER
But we all knew that already. This concert blew me away, 200% due to Mr. Bruno Mars. Janelle Monae has the most amaaaaazing voice, but I just felt like her songs and the theatrics of it all masked her talent. She doesn't need flashing lights and winged dancers! All she needs is herself and a mic! Bruno Mars, on the other hand, MUST BE SEEN IN CONCERT. IF YOU HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY, DO IT. This man can sing, songwrite, and dance, and if you're not madly in love with him by the end of the concert, I'll be highly surprised. He has the unique ability to connect with an audience, perfectly perform any song, and keep a soldout arena on its feet for his entire set. BRUNO MARS IS AMAZING.
Great experience! Bruno Mars has really nice voice. He is very entertaining!
We thought Bruno Mars was awesome!! He sounded so good and loved his performance. It felt very real and not overdone. We didn't undertand Janelle's music and performance. It was kind of out there. She's a great singer but we didn't really get the style of music.
Opening act (Janelle Monae) = horrible. Very loud also.
The Bruno Mars & Janelle Monae concert, Hooligans in Wondaland, was the best show I've ever been to! Janelle Monae has a great voice. I was pleasantly surprised at how awesome Bruno was at performing in general, not only with the songs but in the actual show. Plus he's really cute, so that helps a lot!
amazing show! loved it so much. Bruno Mars knows how to have fun on stage. He often makes jokes in the middle of a song :D. He sang all the songs from the new album, and rearranged versions of Nothin' on You and Billionaire(quite awesome). Thought he wasn't going to sing Talking to the Moon, but he came out again after the end and sang it :) My only complaint is that the openers/janelle monae took up most of the show. The concert started at 8 and Bruno didn't come on until 10 - you could tell people were getting impatient. Not that the others weren't great as well(Janelle was quite cool actually), but I wanted more than one and a half hours of Bruno.
bruno mars put on an awesome show! didn't really know janelle so i didn't enjoy it much
All I can say is the more Mr Mars comes to Boston the more I will attend! He def no how to keep a crowd going!
Absolutely loved Bruno Mars performance! He sounds great live, great performer, great music, and works really well with the audience! Janelle Monae was a good performer but couldn't really get into her music.
Bruno Mars was fantastic - very versatile, personable - he got the crowd on its feet right away. Has a gorgeous soulful voice and broad range of styles - yet you can always tell ti is him. Wanted more of him - went by too fast.
Bruno Mars is so talented, and he and his band sure know how to put in a show. Bruno is an amazing live singer. He sounds GREAT. Not like most singers these days. He had all these quirky little things that put the show over the top. And he played about 15 songs! It was great, and he loves to interact with the crowd. Janelle was pretty good too, great singer, but about halfway through her set I got a little bored. I think she just shouldn't have combined her songs because they were each extremely long. If you have the chance to see Bruno live, DO NOT PASS IT UP. I've been following Bruno wayy before Just the way you are came out. Back when all he had out were his EP, Nothin' on you, and Billionare. Seeing him was the best night of my life, and Ive never had more fun!
Bruno Mars is an excellent performer & his voice is fantastic. I'm looking forward to seeing more of him in the future.
Bruno Mars and Janelle Monae totally swept me off my feet. It was amazing! I had so much fun! Janelle has so much talent and Bruno Mars sounds just like he does on the album! He's so talented and cute! Great performer and singer! LOVED IT SO MUCH!
It was a great concert, with a lot of good entertainment. Plan B was unexpected, but he rocked the beggining of the show! And of course Bruno Mars was really great! Overall, I would say that it was a great show!
Bruno Mars is even better in concert than on his CD. He is a TRULY talented singer and none of his songs were a disappointment. You can tell that he really loves what he does and his fans, and he seemed really down-to-earth between songs. Also, the set list was in a logical order and there were great lighting effects. My only complaint: I wish it was longer!! He was only on for about an hour :( and he didn't sing every one of his songs. As for Janelle Monae, I personally did not enjoy her performance. While is it clear she has a VERY strong voice and its truly talented singer , I was not a fan of her style of music or costume choices. I think Bruno Mars should have toured with someone else.
bruno mars is friggin amazing. he is so full of energy. and so fun to watch. oh and sexyyy. janelle is crazy and entertaining. shes a poppy version of nicki minaj!
All artist that performed with talented musicians. They could sing and play instruments as well as put on a great live show
Bruno Mars did not perform until after two hours of the designated start time. The performers who were on stage before him were mediocre and took up two-thirds of the entire concert. There were also unclear intermissions between each act that ruined the mood of he concert while the stage crew were setting up the stage for the next performer. At least have some type of curtains to cover the setting up portion. The screens were so small! I feel so bad for people who were sitting in the back of the arena. I don't I would ever go to his concert again unless he is performing with better singers.
this was my first real big concert, and it was a good experience. Bruno Mars was really good, with a great stage presence and amazing voice. Janelle Monae was pretty good, but I was there to see Bruno Mars. The only thing I didn't like was the opening band, they just sounded like noise, fortunatly, they only played for liike 10 minutes.
