About
BRUNO MARS IN CONCERT
Classic showmanship in the vein of James Brown and Michael Jackson is alive and well, and Bruno Mars is here to prove it. Mars takes the stage with The Hooligans, a tightly choreographed nine-piece soul band that serves as the perfect representation of his commitment to the live experience – a commitment that led to his selection as the halftime performer at Super Bowl XLVIII. A classic song-and-dance man and multi-platinum selling pop star, Mars references everyone from Prince to The Police in both his image and sound, but the result is more than mere imitation; as a songwriter and producer, he has successfully combined the sounds of his pop idols with reggae and hip hop to create a new generation of genre-crossing hits. In anticipation of his Super Bowl performance, fans can get tickets to catch Bruno Mars in concert on 2013’s Moonshine Jungle Tour.
BRUNO MARS BACKGROUND
Mars was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii, where he gained his first exposure to music playing rock and Motown covers in his family’s band, The Love Notes. By age five, the Elvis Presley impersonations he performed with the band had gained him a reputation on the island and landed him a cameo in the 1992 film Honeymoon in Vegas. After high school, Mars moved to Los Angeles to pursue music, finding initial success as a member of The Smeezingtons, the writing and production team behind Flo Rida’s 2009 hit “Right Round.” His first success as a solo artist came in 2010 with “Nothing On You,” a collaboration with rapper B.o.B. that peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and earned the duo several Grammy nominations. Mars’ debut album, 2010’s Doo-Wops & Hooligans, landed at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 and contained two worldwide No. 1 hits with “Grenade” and feel-good ballad “Just The Way You Are,” which nabbed him his first Grammy (Best Male Pop Vocal Performance). Sophomore album Unorthodox Jukebox (2012) was an even bigger success, peaking at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and spawning the ubiquitous hits “Locked Out of Heaven” and “When I Was Your Man.”

No Way Jose!
by Anonymous on 5/12/11Agganis Arena - BostonRating: 1 out of 5Janelle Monae acted like it was HER concert. She was the opening act not the whole show. Bruno was great. Wish he performed a little bit longer but he would of been able to if Janelle didnt take so damn long
Better than expected
by GringoLatino on 5/12/11Fox Theatre Atlanta - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5Great visual and audio stimulation for the senses. These artists are both great performers and entertainers with plenty of on-stage time to make it feel worth your while.
Janelle & Bruno - High Energy!
by Mowens on 5/12/11Fox Theatre Atlanta - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5Wow! Concert was Amazing, Outstanding! Opening act was excellent also. But Janelle and Bruno were high energy 100% of the time. Sang all their songs. No disappointments. Can't wait to see them again.
Ahhhh...screaming tween girls....headaches
by rollinahole on 5/12/11Fox Theatre Atlanta - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5I am rating this 5 only because of Janelle. I haven't heard much of her music prior to this and I only saw her perform at the Grammys....her show this night was amazing. I really felt she showed up Bruno Mars BIG TIME. It was a true performance. And she has gained a fan. Bruno has a great set of pipes on him and he sounded fantastic, although I felt his performance delivery lacked. Her certainly played to his fan base (young ladies) and he definitely has potential to grow as a musician. I did enjoy his show, but for now, I'll sit back and see what he does in his career before I go buying his album(s).
Bruno Mars was AWESOME!!!
by KayBee75 on 5/12/11Fox Theatre Atlanta - AtlantaRating: 4 out of 5The warm up band SUCKED, except for the beat boxer. Their instruments were way too loud and you couldn't understand a word they sang. Janelle Monae was a bit better, but once again you couldn't understand what she was singing. She's a true artist and it showed in her performance. Bruno Mars was absolutely terrific. He's an excellent performer. He has mad guitar skills. His interaction with the audience was great and you could tell he was appreciative of the response he got from the audience. His outfit was groovy. He was just really a lot of fun to see in person. I would go see him again for sure.
Bruno Great - Skip the Pre-Show
by HotMama50 on 5/12/11Fox Theatre Atlanta - AtlantaRating: 4 out of 5Bruno was wonderful. He enhanced his music in ways I didn't expect. He was engaged with the audience. You could hear and understand his music. As for Janelle Monae - bass was turned up to loud. Couldn't understand anything she said or sang. She sang way to long. Me and 3 friends attended this concert and could not wait for her to be done. It was so loud at times I had to cover my ears. One friend wanted to leave. I'm sorry Janelle. Maybe if the bass and volume is lowered it would be a better experience. Its hard to give a good review to something I couldn't comprehend or hear with clarity.
Amazing!
by dalena80 on 5/12/11Fox Theatre Atlanta - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5Well worth the wait.. I loved the entire show! Loved how Bruno said to put the cameras down and just have a good time and get moving. He sounds awesome live!

Bruno Mars was awesome
by DavitaLynea on 5/12/11Fox Theatre Atlanta - AtlantaRating: 4 out of 5I thought the sound quality for Janelle Monae's performance was horrible as well as the stage was not interesting. However, Bruno Mars was the truth and the quality of his work was awesome. I love his CD and he is a very talented young man...
A plus performances
by love4muzic on 5/12/11Fox Theatre Atlanta - AtlantaRating: 4 out of 5This show was sooooooo much fun! Janelle Monae and her entire crew looked as if they were having the time of their lives. They were energetic and playful and she put on an AWESOME performance! Bruno was amazing as well. I enjoyed his stage presence, his energy, his voice....amazing. I would highly recommend this show to anyone, if you are looking to have a high-energy, fun-filled time.
Bruno & Janelle - Teenage Nightmare
by roverthemoon on 5/12/11Fox Theatre Atlanta - AtlantaRating: 1 out of 5If I had a choice between sitting through this again and having a root canal - I would choose the root canal. The sounds of teenage girls screaming at every utterance is still drilling through my head. if you are a teenage girl (or maybe even an older female, like my wife) - it was probably great. For those of us who are a little older and blessed with testosterone it was a very, very long evening. On the flip side - my wife liked it, so i got some brownie points.
The show was amazing!
by Kiminem on 5/12/11Fox Theatre - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5I thought the show would be good, but it was so much more. It was amazing! I saw the show at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta and it was brilliant. I had a great time. Both artists were fantastic on stage. Bruno Mars is one of the best live performers I've seen. He shounds just as good live as he does on his album. Well worth checking out!
