BRUNO MARS IN CONCERT
Classic showmanship in the vein of James Brown and Michael Jackson is alive and well, and Bruno Mars is here to prove it. Mars takes the stage with The Hooligans, a tightly choreographed nine-piece soul band that serves as the perfect representation of his commitment to the live experience – a commitment that led to his selection as the halftime performer at Super Bowl XLVIII. A classic song-and-dance man and multi-platinum selling pop star, Mars references everyone from Prince to The Police in both his image and sound, but the result is more than mere imitation; as a songwriter and producer, he has successfully combined the sounds of his pop idols with reggae and hip hop to create a new generation of genre-crossing hits. In anticipation of his Super Bowl performance, fans can get tickets to catch Bruno Mars in concert on 2013’s Moonshine Jungle Tour.
BRUNO MARS BACKGROUND
Mars was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii, where he gained his first exposure to music playing rock and Motown covers in his family’s band, The Love Notes. By age five, the Elvis Presley impersonations he performed with the band had gained him a reputation on the island and landed him a cameo in the 1992 film Honeymoon in Vegas. After high school, Mars moved to Los Angeles to pursue music, finding initial success as a member of The Smeezingtons, the writing and production team behind Flo Rida’s 2009 hit “Right Round.” His first success as a solo artist came in 2010 with “Nothing On You,” a collaboration with rapper B.o.B. that peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and earned the duo several Grammy nominations. Mars’ debut album, 2010’s Doo-Wops & Hooligans, landed at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 and contained two worldwide No. 1 hits with “Grenade” and feel-good ballad “Just The Way You Are,” which nabbed him his first Grammy (Best Male Pop Vocal Performance). Sophomore album Unorthodox Jukebox (2012) was an even bigger success, peaking at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and spawning the ubiquitous hits “Locked Out of Heaven” and “When I Was Your Man.”

Both Bruno Mars and Janelle Monae set it off, they are so talented beyond words. A must see show!!
Bruno Mars wasn't that good. Janelle Monae had potential, however, the acoustics at the Verizon Theatre are terrible and you couldn't hear the song, just the blaring music.
Awesome from beginning to end! Love bruno and was amazed at his guitar playing.
Plan B was the worst! Janelle needs to learn how to end a song....waayyyyy too long on stage!!! She has good vocals but, was on longer than Bruno - not what we signed up for! Bruno was amazing - the only real reason we stayed and we didnt get enough of him! We love him!
Bruno Mars is amazing! His voice is beautiful, and he is so cute!
seats a bit too close together, very loud sound, unneeded loud music played from radio during breaks between acts, too long between janelle & bruno, but otherwise everything was great! very good singing & good view. i recommend you see bruno mars though sometime! <33
After a week, I am still on an all-time high from not only Janelle and Bruno but the Opening Acts, Mayer Hawthorne & Plan B (yep, like the contraceptive) WERE COMPLETLY AWESOME! I knew BRUNO and JANELLE could give a performance but for the opening acts to bring it also?? Unexpectedly great. Mayer Hawthorne (I like to call him the Human iTunes machine) created not only sounds but FULL SONGS with his voice. Plan B brought a sound similar to Janelle and Bruno with doing remixed covers that featured Mayer Hawthorne.Their music got you ready for the groove of Janelle and the finishing touches of Bruno Mars. It was an overwhelming, personable, and great experience. I encourage anyone of any age to come and enjoy either artists.
this was the best concert i've ever been to. some artists come on stage and sing. they put on a show. great performances at a great venue!
Bruno Mars' live show is INCREDIBLE !!! High energy performance, lots of dancing. He plays live instruments the WHOLE show. He doesn't just stand there and sing, he interacts with the audience, switches things up and does dance breakdowns and song match ups. I saw all ages at this concert, from really young kids, to (of course) teenagers, there was even an older couple in the front row dancing ! EVERYONE had so much fun, you could tell. I was singing and dancing the whole time, and Bruno sounds JUST like the record live ! Sidenote: if you go to the Hooligans in Wondaland concert, don't leave early or when you THINK it's over ... you may miss something great ;)
The overall show was great! Janelle is an amazing vocalist but she did not interact with the crowd which was a slight let down. She performed one song after the next which made it like listening to the CD live. Of course she had high energy and standard outfit. Bruno on the other hand, engaged the crowd and is an awesome performer. He sounded great and even performed an extra song-Talking to the Moon- after the concert ended. Love both artiest!
If you were planning on going to see this concert do not hesitate for 1 second. Tell all your friends and friends of friends. I didn't really know of Janelle Monae but her energy ripped the house down! Although I wad there for Bruno mars Janelle gave quite the show! But when Bruno Mars came on it was OVER! He amazed me with how musically talented he really is! This man sounds just like his album! He totally brought the house down and had everyone singing his every word !
Both artists gave 200%, extremely talented, great rapport with audience.
Bruno has all the makings of a star that will be shinning for quite some time. Great voice, great personality and great delivery. He was just plain fun. I especially enjoyed his tilting of the hat to old school R&B and soul (as did his back up bands) and Doo-wop. The whole James Brown theme throughout the night may have been missed by some but not on any "soul" fans. His light show and band were tight. Bruno's performance deserves 6 stars!
This pair was amazing. I'll start with Janelle: It seemed like she definitely inspired Bruno. She was INSANE!! BEST performance I've ever seen. She makes you hold other performers to high standards. She's so adorable and such a great dancer, I LOVED watching her. Definitely a high class show. Her performers were on point with her, and her energy did nothing but increase throughout the show. She's so lively and amazinggggg! Bruno. Hot. He hip thrusted three times and my friend and I couldn't handle it. He's good live, not as good as Janelle but he was a great performer, flirting with the girls in the crowd and driving us all crazy.
I give Bruno Mars 5 stars and Janelle Monae 1 star. If it wasn't for Bruno Mars performing I would never waited for him to perform. Janelle Monae - Hooligans were horrible and long & drawn out. The band that played prior to Janelle was even worse, I've seen better high school bands. Bruno Mars is a true entertainer and was unbelievable, I'm so glad I stayed.
Janelle's crazy performance was great and although I didn't know any of her songs i can tell you that she knows how to win the public, she had some crazy moves! and Bruno didn't take long to come out after. He sang technically his entire album, he said good-bye and then came out again to sing two more songs! His entire performance was great and amazing!
Bruno was awesome. Not only a singer but quite a musician. Great band. Great diversity in his music. He has a long career in music even though he is just starting out. Enjoyed him immensley.
LOVED IT! Wish I would've bought my ticket sooner to get a closer seat. These two definitely will interact with the crowd and you will get your money's worth. :)
This concert was GREAT. Janelle Monae and Bruno Mars had a great stage performance. The crowd was live and loving every minute of it. It was definitely worth the money.
Bruno Mars was INCREDIBLE! He sounds better live than he does on the CD. Excellent, excellent show for me and my 12 year old son's first concert. Would have given 5 stars but not a big fan of Janelle Monae. I wasn't fan of hers before the show and her opening act proved me right. Way too loud and flashy for my taste.
