BRUNO MARS IN CONCERT

Classic showmanship in the vein of James Brown and Michael Jackson is alive and well, and Bruno Mars is here to prove it. Mars takes the stage with The Hooligans, a tightly choreographed nine-piece soul band that serves as the perfect representation of his commitment to the live experience – a commitment that led to his selection as the halftime performer at Super Bowl XLVIII. A classic song-and-dance man and multi-platinum selling pop star, Mars references everyone from Prince to The Police in both his image and sound, but the result is more than mere imitation; as a songwriter and producer, he has successfully combined the sounds of his pop idols with reggae and hip hop to create a new generation of genre-crossing hits. In anticipation of his Super Bowl performance, fans can get tickets to catch Bruno Mars in concert on 2013’s Moonshine Jungle Tour.

BRUNO MARS BACKGROUND

Mars was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii, where he gained his first exposure to music playing rock and Motown covers in his family’s band, The Love Notes. By age five, the Elvis Presley impersonations he performed with the band had gained him a reputation on the island and landed him a cameo in the 1992 film Honeymoon in Vegas. After high school, Mars moved to Los Angeles to pursue music, finding initial success as a member of The Smeezingtons, the writing and production team behind Flo Rida’s 2009 hit β€œRight Round.” His first success as a solo artist came in 2010 with β€œNothing On You,” a collaboration with rapper B.o.B. that peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and earned the duo several Grammy nominations. Mars’ debut album, 2010’s Doo-Wops & Hooligans, landed at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 and contained two worldwide No. 1 Β hits with β€œGrenade” and feel-good ballad β€œJust The Way You Are,” which nabbed him his first Grammy (Best Male Pop Vocal Performance). Sophomore album Unorthodox Jukebox (2012) was an even bigger success, peaking at No. 1 Β on the Billboard 200 and spawning the ubiquitous hits β€œLocked Out of Heaven” and β€œWhen I Was Your Man.”

  • Reluctantly Admitting This Was Pure Musical Excellence

by VinylPuristButVibing on 9/1/25Rating: 5 out of 5

As someone who typically spends evenings analyzing obscure Japanese jazz records from the 70s, I approached this show with skeptical ears. But damn, Mars' mastery of funk fundamentals and James Brown-esque showmanship is undeniable. His chromatic modulation in 'Locked Out of Heaven' was particularly impressive. Sure, the bass could've been less compressed, but I found myself involuntarily head-nodding anyway. A masterclass in modern pop execution.

  • Couch surfed our way to the front row! Best night ever!!

    by UpholsterySquad_2013 on 9/1/25Rating: 5 out of 5

Y'all won't believe this but we literally crowd surfed our COUCH (yes, an inflatable one) to the front during Uptown Funk! Security was laughing so hard they let us keep it there πŸ˜‚ All 6 of us were dancing on our portable living room while Bruno pointed and cracked up mid-performance. The whole section joined our sofa party! Between that and our matching gold silk shirts, we basically became part of the show. Bruno even threw his towel at us - it's now our couch's official blanket! LEGENDARY NIGHT!

  • From Carpool Karaoke to Concert Magic!

    by DancingDadInNewBalance480 on 8/31/25Rating: 5 out of 5

After years of being the designated Bruno Mars DJ during school runs (my kids made me learn EVERY song), I finally saw him live with my 12 and 14-year-olds. Let me tell you - my dad moves actually got compliments! Even busted out the sprinkler dance during 'Uptown Funk' and wasn't the most embarrassing parent there. My kids started the night mortified but ended up recording my dancing for their TikToks. Who's uncool now? 😎 Sound was crystal clear from our seats, and those gold chains he wears must be getting a workout with all that moving!

  • LITERALLY SWEATING GLITTER AND CRYING PURE GOLD RN!!!!!!

OMG OMG OMG I CANNOT EVEN TYPE RN MY HANDS ARE STILL SHAKING!!!! BRUNO DID THE SPLITS IN THOSE GOLD PANTS AND I ASCENDED TO HEAVEN?!!?! THE WAY HE MADE EYE CONTACT WITH ME DURING TREASURE (OK MAYBE IT WAS THE GIRL NEXT TO ME BUT WHATEVER) I LOST MY VOICE FROM SCREAMING SO MUCH AND I DONT EVEN CARE!!! MY PHONE DIED FROM TAKING 2847393 VIDEOS BUT HES LITERALLY A DANCING SINGING ANGEL FROM ABOVE!!!! BEST NIGHT OF MY ENTIRE LIFEEEEEE!!!!!! πŸŽ΅βœ¨πŸ’«πŸŒŸ

  • From Eye-Rolling Dad to 24K Magic Believer!

    by DancingDadInCargo_Pants on 8/31/25Rating: 5 out of 5

Brought my tween daughters expecting to suffer through another pop concert, but holy moly - Bruno Mars made ME the embarrassing parent! Found myself doing the Uptown Funk shoulder moves in the aisle while my girls pretended not to know me. His band is INSANE live. Even caught myself humming 'When I Was Your Man' at work the next day. My coolness rating with the kids plummeted when I tried moonwalking, but worth every mortifying moment. Who knew this old dad could get so funky?

  • Perfect show but why no Hawaiian shirts Bruno?!

by PineapplePizzaGroove on 8/30/25Rating: 5 out of 5

The vocals? Flawless. The dancing? Incredible. The band? Mind-blowing. But I spent the whole night distracted by the fact that Bruno wasn't wearing a Hawaiian shirt?? Like c'mon, you're from Hawaii my dude! Still the best concert of my life, but that missing aloha vibe is gonna haunt me. My tropical-print-wearing self feels personally attacked. But that Runaway Baby performance made me forget about it for 3.5 minutes straight.

  • From 'Not My Thing' to 'Uptown Funk-y Dad' in One Night!

    by DancingDadOf3_1975 on 8/30/25Rating: 5 out of 5

Brought my tweens thinking I'd suffer through another 'kids concert' but HOLY MOLY - caught myself doing the moonwalk in public! My 13-year-old was mortified when I knew all the lyrics to '24K Magic' (thanks, minivan radio). Mars' energy is contagious! Even pulled off some shoulder moves that'll need icing tomorrow. Worth every penny of those 'my-wallet-is-crying' tickets. Now my kids think I'm slightly less embarrassing... maybe. πŸ˜‚

  • 1,247 Concerts Later, Bruno Still Ranks Top 5 All-Time

    by ShowVeteran_Since1973 on 8/30/25Rating: 5 out of 5

After catching everyone from Zeppelin to Prince to MJ, I can confidently say Bruno's showmanship is legendary-tier. His James Brown-meets-Prince energy had my seasoned concert legs dancing like it was Studio 54 again. That 15-minute drum solo? Pure electricity. And unlike many modern acts, zero backing tracks - pure musicianship. Trust this old timer who's seen it all - this show sits alongside my top concerts of the past 5 decades.

  • Our crew turned into backup dancers at Bruno's party!

    by squad_goals_and_funky_souls on 8/30/25Rating: 5 out of 5

8 of us went full Hawaiian shirt squad and learned the Runaway Baby dance beforehand! Bruno spotted us in row 12 and pointed RIGHT AT US during Uptown Funk! We've been friends since college but nothing has topped this night - lost our voices from screaming, shoes destroyed from dancing, and Karen literally crowd-surfed during 24K Magic (sorry security πŸ˜…). The synchronized light bracelets during When I Was Your Man had us all ugly crying together. Squad memories for LIFE! πŸ•ΊπŸ’ƒ

  • Mascara everywhere but I don't even care!! MY HEART!

    by 24kMagicMadeMe_Sob on 8/29/25Rating: 5 out of 5

I literally had to reapply my makeup 3 times during this show! Lost it completely during 'When I Was Your Man' - the entire section was passing tissues around. Bruno's voice hit different live and I swear we had a moment when he looked right at me during 'Just The Way You Are'. My best friend had to hold me up, I was shaking so much. Worth every penny of the therapy I'll need after this emotional rollercoaster πŸ˜πŸ’«βœ¨

  • After 847 Shows, Bruno Mars Ranks in My All-Time Top 3

    by ConcertSageForever1979 on 8/29/25Rating: 5 out of 5

Been attending concerts since Zeppelin '77, and let me tell you - Bruno's showmanship is something else. His James Brown-level footwork, Prince-worthy guitar solos, and that band's precision rivals Earth Wind & Fire in their prime. The 24K Magic medley had tighter choreography than Michael's Victory Tour. Even my jaded concert bones were moving! Silk Sonic segment was the cherry on top. When you've seen it all, it takes something special to make your jaw drop. This did exactly that.

  • Drove 27 hours from Alaska - Worth every mile & every gallon

    by BrunoOrBust_3000miles on 8/29/25Rating: 5 out of 5

Y'all, I literally drove my '98 Honda Civic from Anchorage to Seattle for this show! Survived moose crossings, 2 flat tires, and sketchy radio stations just to see Bruno. When he performed '24K Magic' I forgot all about my numb legs and gas station coffee overdose. Even made friends with other long-distance travelers in line - we started our own little 'Far & Away Bruno Brigade'! Best road trip decision ever, though my car may never forgive me πŸ˜…

  • Perfect show but my rhinestone pants stuck to the chair

by SequinedSeatComplainer on 8/29/25Rating: 5 out of 5

Bruno absolutely crushed it! The energy, the dancing, the VOCALS - pure magic! Only tiny complaint is that my bedazzled pants kept sticking to the leather seat and made that awkward peeling sound every time I got up to dance (which was like every 2 minutes because how can you sit still?!). Maybe TM should warn us sparkly-bottomed fans about seat material? Still 5/5 because that moonwalk during 24K Magic was EVERYTHING.

  • 1,247 Shows Later - Bruno Sets a New Bar

    by ConcertSageFrom1969 on 8/29/25Rating: 5 out of 5

After seeing everyone from Zeppelin to Prince, I thought I'd experienced it all. But Mars and his band are on another level technically. The precision of those choreographed moves while maintaining pitch-perfect vocals? Unheard of. His James Brown-meets-Prince showmanship took me back to the golden era, but with modern flair. That 10-minute drum solo transition into 'Locked Out of Heaven' was worth the ticket alone. Top 5 shows in my 50+ years of concert-going.

  • Amazing Show But Stadium Nachos Were Mid

    by SnackBarCritic_24k on 8/29/25Rating: 5 out of 5

Bruno absolutely killed it! His energy was through the roof and that 24K Magic performance had me levitating fr. But I gotta dock some mental points because the nachos at the concession stand were tragically stale. Still singing 'When I Was Your Man' in my car tho. The cheese-to-chip ratio might've been questionable but Bruno's vocals were IMMACULATE. Worth every penny despite the snack situation πŸ’«βœ¨

  • Our squad turned into a conga line at the 24K Magic finale!

by DancingPineappleSquad on 8/28/25Rating: 5 out of 5

8 of us showed up in matching gold sequin jackets and security literally asked to take pics with us πŸ˜‚ Bruno spotted us in section 103 and pointed RIGHT AT US during Uptown Funk! We didn't sit down ONCE - turned our whole row into a dance party and even got the uptight couple next to us to join our conga line during the encore. Lost my voice, broke my platform heels, and found glitter in places I didn't know existed. Worth. Every. Penny. Squad memories for LIFE! πŸ•ΊπŸ’ƒβœ¨

  • From Carpool Karaoke to Concert Magic - A Parent's Perspecti

    by DancingDadOf3_InMyPrime on 8/28/25Rating: 5 out of 5

After months of my kids playing '24K Magic' on repeat during school runs, I finally caved and bought tickets. Never expected to be the one jumping out of my seat! Bruno had this Gen-X dad breaking out moves I haven't attempted since '95. My teens were mortified yet secretly impressed (I saw those sneaky phone videos they took). Even got a high-five from another dancing dad across the aisle. Worth every penny just to show my kids that old folks can still groove! My hip might disagree tomorrow though...

  • From Watching the Door to Dancing on Cloud Nine!

    by SecurityGuard_TurnedFan_2023 on 8/28/25Rating: 5 out of 5

Working security at the front barrier changed my LIFE! Bruno noticed me being super professional and serious, then challenged me to dance during 'Uptown Funk'. Next thing I know, he's handing me his signature fedora and I'm doing the moonwalk on duty! My supervisor was laughing too hard to even be mad. Best shift of my 12-year security career. Still have the hat 🎩✨

  • From Watching the Door to Dancing on Cloud Nine

    by SecurityGuard_TurnedSuperfan on 8/27/25Rating: 5 out of 5

Working security at his show but couldn't help dancing! Bruno spotted me grooving and pulled me onstage during 'Treasure' - even let me do the signature slide! My coworkers won't let me live it down but worth getting written up for breaking protocol. Still have the silk shirt he tossed me. Best work shift of my life, would risk getting fired again 10/10 πŸ˜‚

  • A Masterclass in Show Production & Technical Excellence

    by StageCraftWizard87 on 8/27/25Rating: 5 out of 5

As a stage production veteran, I was FLOORED. The automated LED panels seamlessly transitioning between configurations was genius. That rotating platform during '24K Magic' with perfectly synced pyro timing? *chef's kiss* The way they used negative space during 'When I Was Your Man' with just that single spotlight - brilliant minimalism. Even caught the DMX protocol handoff between lighting rigs. Bruno's team deserves every technical award possible. Pure wizardry.
