Classic showmanship in the vein of James Brown and Michael Jackson is alive and well, and Bruno Mars is here to prove it. Mars takes the stage with The Hooligans, a tightly choreographed nine-piece soul band that serves as the perfect representation of his commitment to the live experience – a commitment that led to his selection as the halftime performer at Super Bowl XLVIII. A classic song-and-dance man and multi-platinum selling pop star, Mars references everyone from Prince to The Police in both his image and sound, but the result is more than mere imitation; as a songwriter and producer, he has successfully combined the sounds of his pop idols with reggae and hip hop to create a new generation of genre-crossing hits. In anticipation of his Super Bowl performance, fans can get tickets to catch Bruno Mars in concert on 2013’s Moonshine Jungle Tour.

BRUNO MARS BACKGROUND

Mars was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii, where he gained his first exposure to music playing rock and Motown covers in his family’s band, The Love Notes. By age five, the Elvis Presley impersonations he performed with the band had gained him a reputation on the island and landed him a cameo in the 1992 film Honeymoon in Vegas. After high school, Mars moved to Los Angeles to pursue music, finding initial success as a member of The Smeezingtons, the writing and production team behind Flo Rida’s 2009 hit β€œRight Round.” His first success as a solo artist came in 2010 with β€œNothing On You,” a collaboration with rapper B.o.B. that peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and earned the duo several Grammy nominations. Mars’ debut album, 2010’s Doo-Wops & Hooligans, landed at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 and contained two worldwide No. 1 Β hits with β€œGrenade” and feel-good ballad β€œJust The Way You Are,” which nabbed him his first Grammy (Best Male Pop Vocal Performance). Sophomore album Unorthodox Jukebox (2012) was an even bigger success, peaking at No. 1 Β on the Billboard 200 and spawning the ubiquitous hits β€œLocked Out of Heaven” and β€œWhen I Was Your Man.”

    As a die-hard fan who's memorized every B-side, I was FLOORED when Bruno dropped 'Money Make Her Smile' after 'Runaway Baby'. The transition from 'Calling All My Lovelies' into 'Natalie' was pure genius. And that extended brass section on 'Perm'? The arrangement was completely different from the Dallas show in 2017! Only real ones noticed he changed the second verse of 'Too Good To Say Goodbye'. Pure perfection from start to encore.

    My coworker dragged me to this show (I only knew Uptown Funk tbh) and OH MY WORD. I've never seen someone command a stage like that?! The man did a 5-minute SPLITS while playing drums?! I literally bought 3 t-shirts, downloaded his entire discography on the uber ride home, and my shower concerts have reached a whole new level. Currently learning how to play drums because of that performance. Sorry neighbors! πŸ₯βœ¨

    Y'all... I used to just casually bop to 24K Magic while picking out avocados at the grocery store. But THIS SHOW?! Bruno literally turned me into a stan! The way he glided across stage like butter on toast, that insane drum solo while doing the SPLITS?! I've already changed my morning alarm to Uptown Funk and learned every single dance move from the show (my cat is judging me hard). Worth every penny and then some! πŸ•Ίβœ¨

    Y'all, I only knew Uptown Funk from the grocery store speakers at my job. Went to this show on a whim with coworkers and HOLY MOLY - I've been sleeping on Bruno! His splits during 24K Magic?! That drum solo during Locked Out of Heaven?! I've already ordered 3 vintage silk shirts and started taking dance lessons. My manager caught me moonwalking in aisle 7 today. No regrets. This man is a whole different level of entertainer!

    Brought my three eye-rolling teens expecting to be the 'embarrassing dad' all night. Plot twist - caught them recording ME doing the Runaway Baby dance moves! Bruno had this 45-year-old accountant grooving like it was 1995. My kids actually admitted I 'wasn't totally cringe' when I nailed every word to Uptown Funk. Best part? Now they're begging me to teach them the shuffle step I busted out during 24K Magic. Parent street cred: ACHIEVED.

    As a production designer myself, I was FLOORED by the hydraulic stage transitions. The way they synced the LED panels with Bruno's footwork during '24K Magic' was genius. The floating platform's wire-work during 'Talking to the Moon' was completely invisible - top tier rigging. And that rainfall effect using micro-LED strings for 'It Will Rain'? Revolutionary. Every lighting cue was millisecond-perfect. This isn't just a concert, it's a technical achievement in live entertainment engineering.

    The concert was absolutely INCREDIBLE, vocals were insane, dance moves were fire, energy was through the roof! But I'm lowkey disappointed Bruno didn't wear his iconic pineapple shirt from 2017 😭 I literally made a matching one for this show. Still giving 5 stars because everything else was literal perfection, but my crafting efforts went to waste lol. The Silk Sonic medley made up for it though! 🍍✨

    Y'ALL. I've spent 23 years watching concerts on YouTube thinking I knew what they were like. I WAS SO WRONG. When Bruno did that flip while playing drums AND singing?! My jaw literally hit the floor and stayed there. I screamed so loud during 'Uptown Funk' that I lost my voice and scared the lady next to me 😭 The pyrotechnics! The dancing! THE SPLITS! I need therapy to process this level of talent. Currently questioning all my life choices that didn't lead me to concerts sooner. Send help. πŸš‘βœ¨

Had to explain to my boss why I needed 4 random days off in March πŸ˜… The jet lag actually made the show feel like a surreal dream - Bruno floating across stage at 4am my time while performing 24K Magic was OTHERWORLDLY. My phone died halfway through but honestly? Better that way. Lost my voice screaming every lyric in my broken English. Currently writing this from the airport lounge, running on pure post-concert adrenaline. Sayonara savings account!

Been waiting 7 years to hear it live and when he hit that high note, my soul left my body 😭✨ My friend recorded me ugly crying and idc, that moment was EVERYTHING.     Bruno Mars was absolutely incredible - his vocals, dance moves, and band were pure perfection. The crowd was electric, the setlist was perfect, and I danced all night... awkwardly holding my $15 drink because WHO DESIGNS AN ARENA WITH NO CUPHOLDERS?? Still giving 5 stars because Bruno's moonwalk made me forget about my drink-holding struggles. My arm is sore but my soul is happy.
