It was a wonderful night and we loved Bruce, the Noisemakers and Bella Fleck!!
I'm a Bella Fleck fan but I'm afraid most of the audience was not there to here Bella and Flecktones so by the time Bruce got on stage the mood was off. Bruce came out with some energy but I'm afraid the audience just didn't give back and it wasn't until the end that Noisemakers had captured the audience and had people dancing in there seats and on there blankets. By then though it was almost 10:00 and the show was over. Still a Bruce fan but question the pairing of two groups together.
Such fantastically accomplished and original musicians! Three of us had a great time.
Bela and Bruce joined forces on a few tunes, and the Flecktones were as good as ever. And Bruce put on a great show, too.
the noise makers was way too long concert started at 630 did not get to hear Bruce Hornsby till around 900, this is after waiting 2 hours in line, not worth the time and money
We spent two hours waiting to hear the star performer, Hornsby! During that two hours, we were serenaded by banjo and guitar music- not necessarily music to rock by or for easy listening! When Hornsby did come on stage, at 8:30Pm, he was good, but one hour later, after 3hours of sitting in our chairs, we left and went home even though Hornsby had not finished- just much too long!
is you are really into bel fleck this was a great event, unfortunatley by the time bruce hornsby took the stage I was over it and we left after the second song
We were not impressed with this concert. I would not reccommend this to anyone. The first group, The Flecktones, were absolutely terrible. We almost got up and walked out. Also Bruce Hornsby was definitely not what we expected. I do remember him from many years ago, that is why we decided to come to his concert. Will never do that again
Admittedly, our seats were great (front row), so there was nothing bad I could possibly say. Bella Fleck and his band were simply awe inspiring and the early appearance of Hornsby with them for a number was a real treat. Bruce and the band were phenomenal, though he was on stage for much fewer songs than I recall in the past. Bella Fleck and Flecktones took up half (if not more) of the show. Aside from that, Bruce was his usual amazing self. Funny, engaging, so very talented.
bela was great bruce plyed alot of unknown stuff good instrument playing all around
In typical Bruce Hornsby style, he provided an entertaining night with meaningful music. This is my fifth time seeing him in concert and his talent continues to leave me in a state of awe. One of the best things about Bruce is that every concert is unique and from his heart. If you have the opportunity to see him, cease it! He is a true musical gem.
What a concert. Beautiful night, fantastic music by Bela and the Flecktones transported me to musical nirvana. A wonderful evening with Bruce Hornsby and the Noicemakers as well. Encore was superb with both groups on stage. Oh what a night!
GREAT SHOW! Very talented musicians & you can't beat a sunny day at Ste Michelle winery. Loved it!
Im not much of a fan of the opening band thing. Bella Fleck and the Flecktones opened for Hornsby. I bought the tickets to see Bruce and his great band. Bella played for 90 minutes, then Hornbsy and his band played for about an hour, but he kept bringing Bella back out. It struck me as a weird concert. Hornsby was awesome and clearly the crowd responded to all of his work. But we had to share him with the Flecktones, who were OK for 30 minutes at the most...their work seems pretty narrow to me. Anyway, 2.5 hours of Bruce and his band would have been just right for how amazing the body of work is and how talented the band is. Next time Bruce, just bring you and your band. We will be extremely happy. In fact, do it next year, same time, same place! But you really don't need to share the stage!
The Hornsby show at the Pageant on 06/10/11 was just what I expcted: Bruce and his band exhibiting great musical chops in an entertaining set. Those not completely familiar with Bruce might have been disappointed, as his shows aren't always about mainstream music. Bruce was pretty talkative this evening and even got his son into the set. As always, I left the venue with a smile on my face. The only disappointing thing was that my front-row seat I originally purchased was wiped out with the decision to go general admission. There was seating near the stage, but one of the ushers wouldn't let just anyone go down there. I don't know what his problem was but I intend to find out when I contact the Pageant about this. Another usher told me that I should have been allowed to go down there.
Bruce and the Noisemakers played at the Pagaent in St. Louis, MO. I had high hopes for this concert, having listened to many of Bruce's other offerings. I have enjoyed Bruce on Sirius Jam On. Not knowing what to expect from Bruce, I was hoping for the best. And I was not disappointed. Bruce is an amazing musician. With the opening coming from Crazy Sick Bastard, I wondered how much better it could get. With several songs coming from Spirit Trail, I soon realized I was in for a special treat. The music just got better as the night went on. When he left the piano for dulcimer, I wasn't sure what to expect. Prairie Dog Town on the duclimer, rocking out throughout the song gave me a new respect for Bruce and the band. Soon, 1 hour and 40 minutes later, I thought that the concert was drawing to a close. Bruce came back out for Mandalin Rain, a tribute to Jerry Garcia and The Way It Is. Everyone, including the band thought it was over when Bruce decided to offer another classic that just blew everyone away. All I can say is "Wow!" This was an excellent concert, living up to and going beyond my highest expectations.
Solid set, with a mix of new and old, The Dead and Bruce originals. Great upbeat, jam-band type of atmosphere! Going to see him again very soon!
From start to finish this show was great! I am so fortunate to have seen him twice in intimate settings and both times he and his band put on an outstanding performance!
From the opening act, Lubriphonic out of Chicago, to the last note played it was a thoroughly intelligent, artistically musical evening. Bruce Hornsby's talent is abundant, his band is outstanding and allows him to conduct and rearrange the tunes to adequately entertain. I loved this show. Improvisation and spontaneous
The show was fantastic! Bruce and the Noisemakers (who are anything but....) are such a talented, tight group. You can tell they have fun making music and the audience gets drawn into that. We'll definitely be seeing them again when they are in the area.
