Really great show. Bruce and his two companions filled the hall with his incredible music. Highly enjoyable.

by Ang2011 on 6/7/11Aladdin Theater - PortlandBruce Cockburn was incredible! It was 2 hours of continual music - some new but plenty of his standards! And I'm embarassed to say I didn't realize what an amazing musician he is - his instrumentals were phemonenal! LOVED the concert. I will be watching to see if he returns! And I'll be buying his new CD.
Rating: 5 out of 5by Anonymous on 6/6/11Uptown Theatre Napa - Napa I have been attending Bruce Cockburn shows for decades. He always delivers above and beyond the crowds' expectations, and the show in Napa at the Uptown Theatre, June 2, 2011 was no exception. It was a simple trio consisting of Jenny Scheinman on violin and Gary Craig on percussion and Bruce on various guitars et al. What a perfect match!!!! I hope they continue to collaborate for many more albumns.
Rating: 4 out of 5 Bruce Cockburn's still got it
by Lunanewt on 6/6/11Aladdin Theater - PortlandBruce Cockburn's passion and precision musicianship has held up over the 30+ years I've been attending his shows. He no longer comes back for 2 or 3 encores as in years past, but still plays a great deal of music in a 2-hour set and did come out to the lobby for signing CD's, tickets, whatever, which was a special and unexpected treat. Jenny Scheinman is a good addition to his set as well, tho' I personally was not wild about her style individually (she opened the show w/a half hour set wherein she largely "strummed" her violin and sang - not my cup o' tea). When she picked up a bow, however, she did shine.

by hawkeyedds on 6/6/11Aladdin Theater - PortlandA real snoozer. Technically proficient but not much of a showman.
Rating: 4 out of 5by Anonymous on 6/6/11Aladdin Theater - Portland Bruce was great, as usual, 5 stars for Bruce. Nice mix of older songs and new ones. Loved the old song that was new to us!!!

Rating: 5 out of 5 Bruce Cockburn was wonderful
by Gagarin on 6/5/11Uptown Theatre Napa - NapaThe Uptown venue was great. Great lighting and sound. Bruce was in a trio tonight. Him with Jenny on violin/mandolin. Drummer kept a great beat. He played songs from many of his assorted cd's. Bruce and Jenny jammed back and forth all night between guitar and violin. it reminded me of Bruce's days with Hugh Marsh. The audience had a great time watching this trio weave magic on stage.
Rating: 5 out of 5 Bruce and Jenny were both uniquely amazing
by DrSongWriter on 6/4/11Uptown Theatre Napa - NapaAs a Canadian (now living in California) I have followed Bruce's music back from the "Musical Friends" days up through the present. It was a great personal thrill to see him perform in person in this intimate setting just 20 miles from home. "Pacing the cage", "Last Night of the World", and "Democracy" were three of the many highlights. I had to admit savoring "Wondering where the lions are" from several albums back.
Rating: 3 out of 5 Bruce was a bit on the slow side
by Rivup on 6/4/11Uptown Theatre Napa - NapaShow was lacking energy. I would have liked to see more of his Guitar work.

by Ocram on 6/3/11El Rey Theatre - Los AngelesI've been a fan of Bruce Cockburn for over 25 years, but have only seen him live once before this show. I wasn't disappointed. Like his fellow Canuk Neil Young, Bruce's guitar chops and vocals were spot on, and we were treated to a nice setlist, including "Wondering Where the Lions Are" and one of my all time favs, "Pacing the Cage". While this was billed as "Bruce Cockburn with Band", it was only BC, his long time percussionist Gary Craig and violinist/mandolinist Jenny Scheinman. While I would've liked to hear some electric guitar, it was nevertheless a terrific show. My only question is -- what was up with those pants?! (BC had on something between MC Hammer parachuter pants and a wet suit, with some weird flap in the front...) Distractions aside, if you get the chance, go see one of Canada's underrated and unsung singer/songwriters.
Rating: 5 out of 5 Bruce and Jenny
by cdnflk on 6/3/11El Rey Theatre - Los AngelesI loved this show!. The venue was so intimate, like being in someone's living room. Bruce's music and lyrics always speak to me. He is such a talented musician and more than that his committment to humanity is evident in all his music. Bruce's heart is in his performance. I have been a fan for most of his career and never tire of hearing him. Come back soon, Bruce!!!
Rating: 5 out of 5 Absolutely awesome
by goingsolo on 5/23/11The Ark - Ann Arbor... the best music I've experienced in too long a time. Bruce Cockburn, Gary Craig and Jenny Scheinman, joined by Annabelle Chvostek for a couple of songs. The music, the venue, the crowd ... perfect. I would go again in a heartbeat.

by wlpate on 5/22/11The Ark - Ann ArborJenni stole the show, Bruce's voice was awesome and the three of them together can be haunting at times. Wish he would have played "rocket launcher" :(

by rockdvd on 5/22/11The Ark - Ann ArborBruce played to an appreciative crowd at the exquisite Ark in A2, great sound mix. He played songs from his new cd and drew appropriately from his deep catalogue starting out with "If it were the Last Night of the World," followed by "Call it Democracy," and "Tokyo," all strangely prescient songs which demonstrate the thoughtfulness and artistry of Bruce's poetic and political sensibilities. He also played several of my favorites "All the Diamonds in the World" and "Arrows of Light" accompanied by himself on dulcimer, fluid violinist Jenny Scheinman, and a terrific percussionist.

by Nrubkcoc on 5/22/11The Ark - Ann ArborIntimate setting -- 400 seats -- with excellent view & sound. Enjoyed hearing Jenny Scheinman as a 30 minute opening act. Bruce (& Jenny & Gary) played a great mix of older (& not just favorites) & new songs for about two hours, with a 3 song encore.. The set was a bit more up beat and pop/rock oriented than I anticipated for this venue, to the satisfaction of my teenage sons (some of his youngest fans?). Drummer Gary Craig worked hard juggling various percussion instruments. Lot's of precise moves on symbols, etc. The trio was available after the show to meet fans & sign CDs. This is the sixth time I've seen him & one of his best concerts.

Rating: 5 out of 5 Best Bruce Concert Yet
by Giggleholly on 5/17/11Berklee Performance Center - BostonWe have seen a number of Bruce's concerts from being with a big band to alone. This was the best. The addition of Jenny and his drummer Gary - provided for an extremely synergistic experience. The vocal harmonies between Bruce and Jenny were terrific. Jenny's extremely adept skills on the violin brought Bruce's already amazing songs to an even higher level. No one who loves Bruce - or those not really familiar - should miss a chance to see these 3 together. Also, he sang a couple of songs with Annabella Chvostek who co wrote the songs with him
