little bit old, little bit new, a whole lot goo

by sylvesterjoe on 5/11/11Birchmere - Alexandria

Jenny is a real talent. Good complement to Bruce. I prefer most of the older songs - i am a geezer after all. Only criticism was that the rhythm section was just too loud and overwhelmed many vocals. Bruce is a poet and his words do count.

    Awesome, as always!

by kfmc on 5/11/11Birchmere - Alexandria

Bruce Cockburn never disappoints his fans. The music and setting are always great, and we appreciate how he introduces new artists to everyone. Jenny Scheinman was incredible -- what a great talent -- and Bruce allowed her to shine. All 3 artists clearly had a great time and spread that enthusiasm to the crowd. We cannot wait for Bruce to come back to the Birchmere.

    Great musicianship

by BearDay on 5/11/11Birchmere - Alexandria

Both Bruce Cockburn and Jenny Scheinman are excellent musicians. I knew nothing of Jenny but her work on the violin and witty lyrics were a great surprise. This was my third time seeing Bruce – each show he will play not only the songs you love but songs you had long forgotten about and those which you've never heard before. Whether a long-time fan or not, Bruce's music is always enjoyable.

    Enjoyable evening

A good concert, sound quality was good and so was the venue (except seats were not comfortable). Wish Bruce was more interactive with the audience.

    predicatably unpredictable.

Each One Lost gave me goosebumps. The set list was well arranged. Good mix of new and older pieces. Engagement with the audience was good balance. Overall inspiring. As we loose track in life this put me in the moment with presence now.

    Bruce - unbelievable as always!

by PhiladelphiaMountainWoman on 5/9/11Keswick Theatre - Glenside

I have missed very few of Bruce Cockburn's shows in the Philadelphia area since 1988. I know at some point he will stop touring--and that will be a terrible day! He is an amazing singer/songwriter who just never seems to tire. His lyrics are beautiful and heartbreaking, and he is as good in concert as recorded -- a rare commodity these days. It wouldn't suck if the Keswick stopped selling beer and wine, either -- just makes people more obnoxious seat mates.

    Masterful performance by Cockburn

by Anonymous on 5/8/11Keswick Theatre - Glenside

Bruce Cockburn delivered a sublimely masterful performance at the Keswick Theater on Friday May 6. Backed by Jenny Scheinman on violin and guitar and Gary Craig on percussion, Cockburn delved deeply into his nearly 40-year catalog of songs while also highlighting several songs from his most recent recording 'Small Source of Comfort". Throughout the evening Cockburn dazzled on guitar and dulcimer illustrating why he's one of the most respected instrumentalists in addition to being one of the most accomplished songwriters. A very impressive performance that should not be missed.

    Bruce Cockburn was fabulous!

    by Feb123 on 4/17/11L'Astral - Montreal

Absolutely wonderful concert! Bruce Cockburn and band exceeded our expectations, playing every song perfectly and Jen on the strings added another dimension that is not to be missed. It was a great mix of old and new songs. Bruce has a nice sense of humour and interacted with the crowd making it very intimate. L'Astral is a great venue, our first time there and we will go back. All good seats, good drinks and munchies and really nice staff. A perfect eveninig all around.

    B.C. at 65 in B.C.

by Reeddeer on 3/26/11Kelowna Community Theatre - Kelowna

Overall, Bruce's concerts are so poignant, powerful, heart-evoking. This evening, a bit loud, but, as always, such a humble, articulate voice of truth in a world web of self-deceit, arrogance and inhumanity.

The concert was great. I enjoyed the other artists as well as Bruce but the sound could have been better.

    Bruce Abides

by Jubb3500 on 4/18/10Coach House - Capistrano - San Juan Capistrano

Bruce seems to simply get better and better the older he gets. His voice and astounding muscianship are stronger then ever. For close to 2 1/2 hours he played and sang his heart out in a powerful and sweet show that included two 4 and 5 song encores. Songs of love, rage, heartbreaking questions, and celebration of the divine spirit blended together in a perfect mix of lyrics and composition. And Bruce genuinley seemed to enjoy us (the audience) as much as we enjoyed our night with him. One of the best live shows I've ever seen.
