About

Over the course of crafting a 29-album catalog and architecting 40 Billboard #1 singles as a keyboardist, songwriter and producer, Brian Culbertson has charted his own unique course in music. Label him jazz and he makes a funk record. Call him an R&B artist and he drops an acoustic jazz trio collection. And you'd be hard pressed to name another instrumentalist of his ilk who can mount an elaborately designed concert production that will keep him on the road for three consecutive months.

Culbertson burst onto the scene in 1994 with a chart-topping album that he recorded in his college apartment featuring keyboard-led contemporary jazz tracks. Flash forward to present day, Culbertson has been going back and listening more and more to music that inspired him as a young musician such as David Sanborn, The Brecker Bros, Chick Corea, Al Jarreau, Pat Metheny & others in the jazz fusion world.

Whether you're listening to music from "Day Trip" on record or live in concert, you're hearing an eclectic, entertaining and engaging set from an artist at the peak of his power.

  • Best Entertainment Experience Ever

by Bede Renfah on 8/28/24The Factory - Saint LouisRating: 5 out of 5

The Brian Culbertson show is "all that."Tremendous entertainment. Yes, Brian is without doubt one of the best in producing his brand of music and his showmanship is superb. But the man shares the stage with his band, who are very talented indeed. His approach makes them so cohesive, flawless. Maybe they are so good the audience would not know, but the pursuit of perfection is evident. Look, if you want to get your money's worth. See this show. Also, I should say something about Eric Marienthal and Mindi Abair. They set the table and add to a completely delightful show experience.

If you have never been to a Brian Culbertson show you have no idea what you are missing. His stage presence is electrifying and his band has such a brotherhood you can feel it on stage. Brian leaves you always wanting more and he is absolutely the Maestro. Whenever he hits your city make sure you check him out. You will be glad you did.

  • All performers were great…Brian Culbertson was awesome!

by BNReal on 8/27/24The Factory - Saint LouisRating: 5 out of 5

The parking, security, venue, bars, restrooms, concert attendants, seating and acoustics were entirely on point. The cost of the drinks for the pour (doubles were entirely necessary and not nearly a double) and the excessive tipping amounts presented were the only negativs for me. That said, The Factory is now my favorite venue for concerts. The line-up of artists to include the Eric Marienthal Band featuring Mindi Abair, The Comedy of Alonzo Bodden and Brian Culbertson delivered a memorable experience. Everyone for rows in front of, behind, and to the side of me were visibly enjoying this concert in a stand up and engaging way!

    by Felicia81 on 8/27/24The Factory - Saint LouisRating: 5 out of 5

It was the most amazing performance and experience ever!!!! I want to attend every show possible. The comedic act was the funniest I've heard in a while. The artistry was absolutely outstanding. I'm forever grateful to God for the experience and hope and pray for more to come with Brian Culbertson.

  • Great Friday night

by Longtime Fan on 8/5/24Iroquois Amphitheater - LouisvilleRating: 5 out of 5

Avery Sunshine was awesome. Brian Culbertson and his band were amazing. Wish the show started at 8 because it was a real push for time to get off work. Missed first artist. Missed some of Avery. The atmosphere was wonderful. It was my first time there. I will never buy drinks again $40 for 2 cocktails was ridiculous. The bottle of tequila they used didn't cost that much. Overall, I enjoyed the show and will go again. Just will not buy any concessions.

  • Just super!!

by diek on 8/5/24Iroquois Amphitheater - LouisvilleRating: 5 out of 5

Brian appeared at the Jazz Fest. 2 other performers had acts before him. They were mediocre. Brian and his band were in top form and everything was high energy. I wish they had just had Brian appear for the full 2 hours instead of the other acts.

  • Good but not Great

by Book Lady on 8/5/24Iroquois Amphitheater - LouisvilleRating: 3 out of 5

We were looking forward to more Smooth Jazz mixed with funk and other. The evening was lacking in Smooth Jazz. Too much loud and not enough soft in all the acts. They were very talented musicians and the show was good just not of what we were looking for.

  • Great show

First time seeing BC live at the Hampton Jazz Fest 2024 & he is AWESOME. Don’t sleep on this young man he is “No doubt one of the baddest jazz musicians on the planet.”
