About

Boys Like Girls are a pop-rock band that formed in 2005. The quartet skyrocketed up the charts with anthemic singles like “The Great Escape” and “Love Drunk,” with the latter’s accompanying music video featuring High School Musical star Ashley Tisdale. Their two breakthrough singles were followed by a sweeping emo-tinged ballad featuring Taylor Swift, “Two Is Better Than One,” which helped the band’s second album (2009’s Love Drunk) land in the Top 10 on the Billboard 200. In 2012, the band’s frontman Martin Johnson began writing/producing music for everyone from blink-182 to Avril Lavigne, leading to Boys Like Girls going on hiatus (reforming sporadically to tour between 2016 and 2020). In May 2023, the band released “Blood and Sugar,” the first single from their upcoming fourth album and their first new song in over a decade.

The show was absolutely amazing! I was lucky enough to get on stage with Boys Like Girls! I am so glad that I went! Cobra Starship is now a new favorite of mine and I plan to see them every time they come to town! THE SHOW WAS PERFECT!

I love Boys Like Girls. Heard new bands including the Maine, A Rocket to the Moon, and VersaEmerge. Loved them! Trying to find VersaEmerge's CD. Awesome concert. Go to a BLG concert whenever you can. They are great entertainers

It was just amazing! And the bands really care about their fans. During The Maine's set the middle of the crowd fell, and almost everyone was down, but they stopped and waited till everyone got back up before continuing. Every band is just amazing and care deeply.

  • cobrastarship was amazing!

by heydonna on 11/17/09Revolution Live - Ft LauderdaleRating: 4 out of 5

Cobrastarship's performance was the best you could ever ask for followed by the Maine's. Boys like girls on the otherhand was less that satisfactory, i am not sure if it was the sound equipment or what but they sounded terrible. My friends and I actually left while Boys like girls were singing we were so bored and turned off by the performance.

  • One Word: Amazing!

    by justpeachy8291 on 11/16/09The Pageant - St LouisRating: 5 out of 5

This concert was one of the top 3 best concerts I've been too. I loved how Boys Like Girls involved people in the crowd and also at the end, actually jumped off the stage and started taking pictures with fans. Cobra Starship was also amazing. I really enjoyed this concert and it's definitely recommended.

  • Boys Like Girls put on an AMAZING show!!

by Kynz on 11/16/09The Warfield - San FranciscoRating: 5 out of 5

This was such a great line-up. Each group was fantastic! The sound system wasn't the greatest. We were upfront and It was hard to understand what they were saying. We flew from Washington state to San Francisco to see this show and it was worth every penny!!

  • WOW!!!!!

    by CncrtFinatic on 11/16/09Clutch Cargo's - PontiacRating: 5 out of 5

This concert was amazing. They had great stage presense and definitely captured the audience attention. Clutch Cargo is a very intimate venue and you feel like you are best friends with the band. I will definitely see them again. The opening bands... specifically Rockets to the Moon and Cobra Starship... were great as well. I will be sure to catch them in there next concert. LOVED IT!!!!!

  • Awesome experience

  • Boys Like Girls-Loved the Show!

    by 53779 on 11/15/09Clutch Cargo's - PontiacRating: 5 out of 5

I took my two daughters and niece to the show at Clutch Cargo which featured VersaEmerge, A Rocket to The Moon, The Maine, Corba Starship and Boys Like Girls. After a bad experience in the mosh pit we went downstairs for a bit and the girls were lucky enough to meet and talk to VersaEmerge band members Blake Harnage, Sierra Kusterbeck and Jerry Pierce. It was very nice of the band members to take the time to talk to and take pictures with my girls. We purchased a Meet and Great VIp package for Boys Like Girls and although it was a little rushed, the girls loved it and it was worth the money!

I only knew of Boys Like Girls, they were the main reason I wanted to go to the concert. They were amazing and I really liked how Martin let people up on stage at the end and how he stayed after and took pictures with people on the floor. Martin really cares about his fans and he knows how to show it. The Maine surprised me, I enjoyed their set and Cobra Starship was ok, they are a little weird for my taste. This is my 3rd time seeing Boys Like Girls and they were spectacular ,as always. I can't wait to see them again!

  • Boys LIke Girls Concert at Clutch Cargo

    by Anonymous on 11/15/09Clutch Cargo's - PontiacRating: 1 out of 5

The doors opened at 5pm. I thought there would be one warm up band and then Boys LIke Girls. But no.....3 hours later I am still listening to unknown bands and decided to leave. What a huge disappointment to wait 3 hours for a band...do not go to this place for a conncert.

One of the best shows I've been to all year long. I went to see The Maine and Cobra Starship, but left a huge fan of Boys Like Girls, A Rocket to the Moon and VersaEmerge. I ended up doing shots with some of them next door at the ilounge!

  • Absolutely Amazing!

by trishythefishy on 11/15/09The Pageant - St LouisRating: 5 out of 5

This concert was definitely the best one I have ever been to! We got to rush the stage during Boys Like Girls and then the band jumped into the crowd and took pictures with our cameras! Sooo awesome. :)

  • A Great Line-Up, For A Great Show!

    by vasak on 11/15/09Clutch Cargo's - PontiacRating: 5 out of 5

Personally, I love seeing Boys Like Girls, The Maine, and Cobra Starship live. So, any chance I get to see them is always amazing! All three know how to put on a great show, and they each bring a different feeling to the floor. As for VersaEmerge and A Rocket to the Moon, I'm not their biggest fan. But, they both can pull off a nice set and they have songs almost anyone can enjoy. Overall, the concert had a perfect line-up!

  • Boys Like Girls

    by littskar on 11/15/09Clutch Cargo's - PontiacRating: 5 out of 5

While Boys Like Girls is pretty well known they retained the small band feel which was really great! While I was at a smaller venue at the end of the concert they invited all the fans to come up on stage with them... and at the end the lead singer stage dove into the remaining fans and then they all stayed after for pictures autographs etc. Which was pretty surprising because most concerts if they stage dive they are followed by a security guard or leave the band leaves directly after the show. it was really awesome! If you like boys like girls definately go to one of their concerts because its a really great experience.

I was at the Secondhand Serenade, Cute is What We Aim For, and A Rocket to the Moon at Clutch Cargo's last year, and have loved A Rocket to the Moon ever since. They are a great, new band. I had never heard of VersaEmerge, but will be getting their music ASAP. The Maine was great, Cobra Starship really impressed me, and Boys Like Girls wrapped it up with an EPIC finish. Cutch Cargo's is a great venue, and the bands they bring in are stellar.

  • Cobra Live Plus Stage Dives

by constermonster on 11/15/09Ogden Theatre - DenverRating: 5 out of 5

Having seen both A Rocket to the Moon and Cobra Starship before, I knew it was going to be a good show. I can't really say much about VersaEmerge because I missed most of their set, but from what I could tell, they rocked it. A Rocket to the Moon followed with a mix of old tunes and tracks from their new album "On Your Side", including the single "Mr. Right". If you haven't heard it yet, DO IT. The Maine got the crowd going, but still found time to slow it down for "Into Your Arms". They were spectacular and sang the perfect combination of songs from their album, even their Def Leppard cover "Pour Some Sugar On Me" which is probably one of the best covers made of that song. I honestly could not give Cobra Starship more credit. If you're a band who wants the crowd pumped to the max before you go on, get Cobra Starship to play right before you. I feel like they deserve to be headliners more often than the actual headliners because even if you don't know all of their songs, you can't help but go crazy during their set. And with a hit like "Good Girls Go Bad" getting radio and MTV time, it seemed like by the end of their set, EVERYONE had their fangs up. Boys Like Girls turned on the lights and turned up the beat. While I can honestly say the energy died a bit after Cobra peaced out (but I feel like that always happens), Boys Like Girls definitely wowed the crowd and had a nice mix of everything. In my personal opinion, "Love Drunk" is a much better album than their self-titled debut, I couldn't help but smile and jam during their classics "Five Minutes to Midnight" and "The Great Escape". Overall, it was a GREAT show, with fun music, lots of energy, and some great bands that are going to keep killing it live for many more years in the future.

  • Great Performances!!

    by Anonymous on 11/15/09Clutch Cargo's - PontiacRating: 4 out of 5

All of the bands were AMAZING. Boys Like Girls and Cobra Starship really got the crowd fired up. The Maine, A Rocket To The Moon and VersaEmerge also did great. VersaEmerge was really impressive because I didn't really like them before the concert. The vicinity was way too packed and there was no moving room which made it hard to breathe and get around. It was hard to find a spot to actually see the bands. My group bought $75 Boys Like Girls meet and greet tickets, which in the e-mail I got prior to the concert said we could bring something small to get signed by the band members. When we got to the actual meet and greet, there was a line of people and everyone went through the line, stood there for a picture, then walked away and a band rep gave each person a signed Boys Like Girls poster. I was disappointed with the meet and greet because we spent $50 more each for VIP tickets and all we got was to take a picture with them and a poster. It literally took about fifteen seconds. We didn't get time to talk to them and we weren't allowed to get anything signed. You could see the Cobra Starship meet and greet on the balcony from the floor, and you could see that each band member was taking the time to meet them, sign things and take pictures. That's how the Boys Like Girls meet and greet should have been, especially for the cost. Most of the people working the concert we found to be rude. After the concert, Gabe from Cobra Starship was outside of the vicinity meeting people, signing things and taking pictures. I thought this was much better than the Boys Like Girls meet and greet because he actually took the time to talk to each person, introduce himself and learn their name. He was very nice and sincere. And, it was at no cost! Overall, we had a great time at the concert. The performances were terrific and I won't forget them. I recommend this to anyone who likes the bands and their genre of music, because they all performed amazingly!

  • Epic Night!

    by Anonymous on 11/15/09Clutch Cargo's - PontiacRating: 5 out of 5

This is an amazing lineup if you are into this kind of music. Its basically four hours of good music. I felt the concert could have been over after the maine rocked the stage, but there were still two bands left! Cobra Starship and The Maine did amazing with conncecting with the crowd and were both hilarious. Cobra had AMAZING lights and were easily the best band there, even though i like the maine better. After Cobra, untill Boys Like Girls started a mosh pit, they were very boring because they did not talk to the crowd and just acted way better than everyone else. Once they got a mosh pit going, had people come up on stage and the singer stage dove, that made it a lot more fun. Over all its an awesome concert, just be ready to stand for 5+ hours!
