About

Boys Like Girls are a pop-rock band that formed in 2005. The quartet skyrocketed up the charts with anthemic singles like “The Great Escape” and “Love Drunk,” with the latter’s accompanying music video featuring High School Musical star Ashley Tisdale. Their two breakthrough singles were followed by a sweeping emo-tinged ballad featuring Taylor Swift, “Two Is Better Than One,” which helped the band’s second album (2009’s Love Drunk) land in the Top 10 on the Billboard 200. In 2012, the band’s frontman Martin Johnson began writing/producing music for everyone from blink-182 to Avril Lavigne, leading to Boys Like Girls going on hiatus (reforming sporadically to tour between 2016 and 2020). In May 2023, the band released “Blood and Sugar,” the first single from their upcoming fourth album and their first new song in over a decade.

  • Boys Like Girls was amazing!

by Anonymous on 11/28/09Showcase Live - FoxboroRating: 5 out of 5

The night started off with a new and upcoming local musician named Gregory James. It was a nice surprise and Martin (Boys Like Girls) obviously has a good judgement of talent, for it was James' first show. VersaEmerge was good and the guitarist was quite interesting. Next up was A Rocket to the Moon. They are also from Massachusetts and are an amazing talent. Then, it was The Maine, whose lead singer wasn't feeling very well but you'd never know it because they still put on an amazing show. Then came Cobra Starship. Their lead singer, Gabe Saporta, had very colorful and explicit language which we could have done without, but other than that they were very good. Finally, the main event, Boys Like Girls was AMAZING! They were beyond all expectations and I swear every time I see them they are better! They seemed the most in tune with the crowd and they show how much they love and appreciate their fans. The only negative was the shoving of the moshpit up front, where at one point I thought I might pass out. Overall, this was the best concert I have ever been to.

  • The Maine was amazing.

  • Op at showcase live

    by R0BBY on 11/28/09Showcase Live - FoxboroRating: 4 out of 5

Cold weather took a toll on all of us as we waited in what seemed to be a never ending line of fans. Doors opened at about 6:15, but by then we were all freezing. The venue was small but packed. The concert opened up with Versa Emerge, an amazingly talented band with a kickass vocalist. Following them was A Rocket To The Moon and The Maine...obviously they were great and they are much better live so if you haven't seen them go and buy tickets right now. Fangs were raised as Cobra Starship took the stage and the crowd went crazy. Lead singer Gabe really knows how to get the party started and the place jumping. After about a half hour of pure Cobra awesomeness, they cleared the stage for the main act of the evening. Boys Like Girls rocked the house and based on the screaming girls the crowd thoroughly enjoyed themselves. A rush of the stage marked the end of the night and an epic crowd surf by lead singer Martin left us with our final farewell . Excluding some obnoxious people who decided to mosh while everyone shot them dirty looks it was a great night. People diving for guitar picks, water bottles, and even set marking tape made it an unforgetable experience.

This concert was incredible. given that i have been a fan of BLG for so long and they played their old songs that remind me of way back , it was a really good concert. Also, The maine and Rocket to the Moon are probably my two favorite bands, so yeah. Great performers. It was my first concert and i dont think it could have been beter.

This show was amazing, three of my favorite bands were in this show making it my dream concert and it was so much better than i could imagine. boys like girls were so good they get so into their performance and truly care about the fans. at the end of the show they allowed people to go up on stage with them and i managed to get up there. it was so amazing and i cant wait to do it again tonight.

  • by itxheather on 11/27/09Starland Ballroom - SayrevilleRating: 5 out of 5

A rocket to the moon was amazing. It was the first time i saw them and they did incredible. The Maine was even better! BoysLikeGirls was the best though, because I found one of their guitar picks on the floor that they had thrown to the audience and it was great because that is my life long dream to get at a concert! After the concert, I got to meet Jared, Garrett and Pat from The Maine and got their autographs and pictures with them and they were all so sweet. Overall this concert was amazing!

The show was great, the 2 bands before it were also very good, the Maine, and Rocket to the Moon were also very good. I had my 2 children with me 9 and 14 and they both loved it, especially my 9 year old. They put on a great show

  • Absolutely amazinng, best concert I've seen

    by summerxsun580 on 11/26/09Starland Ballroom - SayrevilleRating: 5 out of 5

It was amazing! boys like girls were soooo good! i got VIP meet & greet and got in an hour early and met them before the show and they were all really nice. I got a picture with them and a sweatshirt and my VIP laminate signed. Since I got in early, during the concert I got to stand right against the gate, 4 feet from the stage. We were so close and it was so great. I'd go back in a second and it was so worth the $100 i payed. I got meet & greet, early entry, 2 poster, a VIP laminate, a dog tag necklace, 2 wristbands and the time of a lifetime. At the very end they let people on the stage with them and it was absolutely amazing. The only thing I did not like is they put a second album twist on their older songs. So instead of the older songs being slow like htey were on the old album they were more rock-ish which i didn't like. I wish they did atleast one song acoustic. But anyway it was AMAZING!

Okay so I did the meet and greet with them and they were really nice. I can officially say I can die happy. All the bands were good. The Maine was amazing. Boys Like Girls was definitely my favorite hands down. I got to be front row which I have never been at any of their concerts so that made it even better. I definitely recommend anyone to go see them. I give this show way more than five stars :D

  • Boys Like Girls was AMAZING !!

I thought that the concert was one of the best concerts in my life. People in the crowd, though, were soo crazy. at one point i was on the floor but then me and my sister just left and went to the bottom left of the stage. Then the concert got sooo much better. The maine was also really good, but Boys like Girls was even better. I even got on stage and got a video of martin saying "I love Gianna Brittany and Liz" :] it made my life :]
