Great - First time seeing them in person UK orchestra and coirs added a great deal.
I thought the show was totally entertaining. Boston Pops, as always, great. The University of Ky. orchestra and all the choirs were an added bonus.
The pieces that were picked were perfect for the event. The sound of the music was very good in such a large arena. The whole package was just wonderful. I love the fact they had the choir. It was a wonderful nite out.
Spectacular event. Loved every minute and every person I have spoken to since has said the same.
I thought the entire concert was superb! The singers were joyous also! What a wonderful evening of entertainment. Thanks so much UK!
it was absolutely great. i can't wait to see both again. lets just say mind blowing
Amazing! Wonderful performance. A must see for all ages and tastes.
Excellent presentation. Wonderful combination of Boston Pops, UK Symphony, and choirs.
My Mother has had a secret crush on Keith Lockhart for years. Upon hearing of this once-in-a-lifetime performance by the UK Symphony Orchestra and the Boston Pops I knew I had to suprise her with an evening with him....even if it was from a seat ......a hundred feet away! Thank you for providing my Mother with a thrill of a lifetime. It was a spectacular evening with unforgetable memories!!
The Boston Pops/UK Symphony concert, honoring Keeneland, was just fantastic. Both conductors did a great job and the musicians were outstanding. We would go listen to them again tomorrow if they were here.
Fabulous way to spend an evening. Enjoyed it all. Appreciated all the wonderful talent that was displayed, be it the wonderful Lexington singers or the UK Symphony Orchestra, I envy them all. Keith Lockhart is a human dynamo; may he continue for a very long time. Please continue to have such high caliber performances in upcoming venues.
Keeneland's definitive blowout concert, celebrating their 75th Anniversary, was a perfect finale to a grand celebration. Keith Lockhart, the Pops, John Nardolillo and the UKSO with added voices were at the top of their game. The audience was rightly enthused to join this night of music, learning, celebrating and joyfulness. I would recommend this to anyone who has the smallest inkling for great music to the great devotees of fine performances. Tis a pity a concert like this comes around only every 75 years!
What a fabulous concert! To see my daughter singing with the Boston Pops was a thrill! The UK Orchestra performing alongside the professionals showed me just how great our UK Orchestra is. I could have listened for another 2 hours!
The UK Symphony Orchestra is, in my opinion, better than the Lexington Philharmonic. John Nardolillo is an incredible conductor as well as educator, and the UKSO sounds it! Then, partner the UKSO with "America's Orchestra," the Boston Pops, and you have nothing short of amazing. Add the UK Choirs, Lexington Singers and the Lex Singers Children's Chorus, and you had a 600-member "dream team" of musicians. Every single piece performed was wonderful. Pops conductor Keith Lockhart, a musical superstar, was SO entertaining and cordial. The 1812 Overture was complete with cannon fire, and the grand finale, the Pops' "signature tune" "Stars and Stripes Forever" - including fireworks! - brought chills. I've attended many concerts over the years, and this was simply the best ever. Thanks to all who made it possible!
From the moment the concert began until the playing of the final note... it was a simply amazing musical evening. The absolute best symphonic sounds ever to fill Rupp Arena.
I enjoyed it very much and I enjoyed who I went to the show with. I would go again if they ever came to Rupp again.
great entertainment! The University of Kentucky has an amazing orchestra.
We thouroughly enjoyed the Boston Pops/UK Symphony concert. We enjoyed the photographs and films that played during some of the songs and readings. As one who enjoys photograpyh and taking pictures at Keeneland I loved the pictures and film. We aslo enjoyed how the conductors switched off at times, leading the others orchestra. It was all handled very nicely. A wonderful evening.
--all of the "stops" were pulled out; had all musical groups from Lexington + the Boston Pops
I enjoyed this concert SO MUCH. It was unique in that the music had mostly an "equine" theme, and they pulled it off seamlessly! I was a little worried about the acoustics in Rupp Arena for a symphony concert, but the sound was amazing. And the production, with the videos and camera work, were very impressive. Can't say enough good things about this show. I hope The Pops can come again to Lexington.
