Outstanding concert and for a good cause. Would like to see as an annual or semi-annual event.
I attended 4 of the Boston Pops Holiday Tour shows this year, and was not disappointed in the least. Without a doubt the highlight for me was this years soloist, Melinda Doolittle. She has the most beautiful, powerful voice, and every song is delivered with such emotion that it gave me goose bumps. What a thrill to hear her sing some songs that I wasn't familiar with before.....I now have some new favorites. I also loved the Conductor, and the Choir...all who provided a perfectly delightful musical evening. Hats off to the Boston Pops, and to Melinda Doolittle. I will definately travel again to attend another Pops performance.
I loved the mix of traditional Christmas music with the not-so-familiar carols! I most espcially loved the creative arrangements rendered to perfection by Melinda Doolittle - truly a one in a million talent. This is the first time I have attended a Boston Pops Christmas show and loved every minute of it!
I loved everything but especially the Pops performing Sleigh Ride and Melinda Doolittle singing. She sang Children Go Where I Send Thee, Do You Hear What I Hear?, Joy To The World and a medley of My Lord What A Morning, Rise Up Shepherd and Glory Hallelujah.
Although I love the Pops it was a little dry this year. Not as exciting as last year. But still worth going to any time!
The Boston Pops Orchestra venue at Verizon Center was disappointing. I had never been to a musical performance there before the 2010 Boston Pops Concert. The songs were wonderful, the reading of The Night Before Christmas by Josh Judge a pleasant surprise, and the vocals were amazing; yet the full depth of the orchestra was lost in the lacking acoustics of the Verizon Wireless Center. I have been to a local high school 's concerts where I could feel the music and left truly moved. Not the case last Saturday night at the Pops concert. We had great seats, but I would not go to another concert at this location again. As much as I love the Pops, the experience was not worth the cost of the tickets.
The Pop's itself was great .however we have a son that has a many challenges. He loves music and enjoyed himself. He expresses himself with hand motions . WE unfortunately had a family that sat in the row infront of us who were'nt comfortable with our son and complained. tom wasn't disruptive. one of the ushers came and told us and aske dthat we go to a more secluded area. I advised that he wasn't being disuptive and that if he was I'd be the first to leave . 2 of the people in front of us became very rude . They finally left but ruined our the rest of our show. I can't believe that there are people out there that aren't in the 21 century!. The people behind us apoligized for there behavior and said that he wan't being disruptive at all.
i have always wanted to see The Boston Pops. i would be hard-pressed to come up with a better first date. the show was the icing on the cake to a wonderful evening.
The pops concert was wonderful. I wasn't sure that my husband would enjoy it but he thought it was fabulous too! Melinda Dolittle was a nice surprise, what a gorgeous voice!
This was a great night on the town with my fiance. she LOVED it and wants to be a conductor one day now. it was a great way to spend the night getting ready for christmas. thank you to all!
I would not go to this event again. I prefer the traditional Christmas songs. Improvisation of xmas songs is like abusing the true spirit of the real meaning of Xmas. This event should be advertised as NAME THAT TUNE!!!
This was my first time seeing the Boston Pops orchestra's Christmas show. I went with my fiance to celebrate the season hoping to hear all the holiday classics. This is where I had a little disappointment with the show. The orchestra itself played exceptionally. I would have thought I was listening to a studio recording they played so flawlessly. However, when it came to song selection, especially with regards to teh ones sung by Melinda Doolittle, I found many of the songs before the intermission to be unfamiliar or sung in a way that they seemed foreign. I would have rather she sang song such as "Silent Night" and "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas". She certainly had the talent to be able to do a wonderful job with them. Thankfully, the second half of the show featured a lot more of the traditional holiday tunes which pleased both my fiance and I. So overall it was still a good show we simply would have preferred a more traditional song selection.
Excellent show, tickets arrived via USPS very quickly.
As always, the Boston Pops were wonderful! Gloriae dei Cantores was also fantastic, and Melinda Doolittle blew us away with her amazing voice. Another great performance by all!
Not my cup of tea. Left at intermission. Was not very upbeat and lively like I was hoping. More of a bedtime musical.
The pops and Keith Lockhart gave another memorable performance mixture of traditional and classic Christmas tunes in time for the holidays. The only miscue was the pops printed the words of the sing-alongs in their program, but never turned up the house lights at that time - so no-one could read them! What were they thinking?
We went to the Pops concert expecting a wonderful night. After going to the Pops in 2009 this concert was horrible. The guest singer was not good at all. The music was drab and boring. I guess once you've seen 2009 nothing else could possibly compare!!!
The chorus was great and the musicians were great, but I wish they played more traditional songs. I really didn't like the improvisation of the songs.
Last year's show was much more lively. The vocal group last year was better by far. This show was a sleeper. The choral group was bland. Miss America had no idea what she was doing or supposed to do. We won't go again
