The most wonderful time of the year!

by Zippy1213 on 12/4/12Tilles Center Concert Hall - Greenvale

The Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra's holiday concert was wonderful! Keith Lockhart is both a superb conductor and personable entertainer! They play familiar tunes with creativity and expertise. Their guest singing group, Five by Design, was terrific...their harmonies perfection! This is a fabulous way to get some holiday spirit!

The Boston Pops are one classy act. They performed with such skill and artistry. The Rockapella numbers were wonderful, but I wanted to be blown away and wasn't (except for the vocal percussionist--I don't know how he does it!) I particularly enjoyed the pieces where the Pops and Rockapella played together. The program had something to please everyone, with lots even for the little ones.

Terrific way to spend an afternoon

by ClassicalJazz on 12/10/11Tilles Center Concert Hall - Greenvale

Superlative show in all ways. Appropriate venue, no unnecessary frills to detract from the fact that one is attending a musical event, wonderful performance from vocalists and musicians and conductors. Only wish it could have lasted longer as I was enjoying myself so much. Holiday show that delivered on the holiday songs and good cheer. Loved the sing-a-long that the Pops are noted for. HIghly recommended.

    An Afternoon of Smiles

by MiddleVillageJohn on 12/6/11Tilles Center Concert Hall - Greenvale

Witnessing the Boston Pops is a great occasion. Add to this the fantastic sounds of Rockapella and a great occasions becomes truly memorable. The splendid musicians of the Pop brought life to every piece of Holiday music they played, from classical to modern and popuar. And when the voices and artistry of Rockapella were added, an entire audience was captiviated. Everyone joined in song, everyone smiled...and even Santa Claus made a guest appearance. It was nothing less than a memorable Sunday afternoon of entertainment.

The Boston Pops Christmas Concert is a real treat!

by Taxprofs1 on 12/6/11Tilles Center Concert Hall - Greenvale

The annual Christmas Concert by the Boston Pops is certainly a treat that should not be missed. The quality of the music, the joyous spirit and the sheer joy that they bring to the concert is totally infectious. The guest stars, including Rockapella, added another dimension to the totally enjoyable show.

    GREAT HOLIDAY SHOW

by Beatlemom on 12/4/11Auditorium Theatre - Chicago

My husband and I have never seen Boston Pops before this Holiday show. It was all we expected. The orchestra was wonderful. Rockapella was good, but we believe that their participation could have been more limited. All in all a great experience!!

    Pops are flawless

by jowan on 12/4/11Auditorium Theatre - Chicago

Boston Pops have flawless technique and artistry. Singers were also very fine. Would have preferred more Pops and less singers.

    Expected more

    by Paul42 on 12/4/11Auditorium Theatre - Chicago

The orchestra played well, just like they played it a hundred times. That was the problem, no spark. I wanted to hear more orchestral numbers but it seemed like Rockapella took up half the program even if they didn't. About three numbers from them would have been fine. The female solo singer was very good, just the right amount of time on stage. It would have been more appropriate, I think, if Keith Lockhart had worn a tuxedo like all the orchestra. Even Rockapella had suits and ties. I am not waiting with baited breath for their return next year. We went to a college program 2 nights later and paid $13.00 a seat instead of $127.00 per seat, and all 3 of us thought it was fabulous. We will be back there next year.

    Great Show

by Ososcrew on 12/3/11Auditorium Theater - Chicago

We always look forward to the Boston Pops coming to Chicago. It was a great show. Was fun and the music spectacular. Rockapella did great also and we will be checking out their shows too. Being from New England, we do miss Pops. Can't wait for them to return.

    Boston Pops Orchestra

    by ejmw316 on 12/2/11Auditorium Theatre - Chicago

I bought tickets to hear the Boston Pops here in Chicago. Under the very prominent name of the Boston Pops was the name of rockapella, also appearing. After seeing the show, I would have to say that this was a "bait and switch" as most of the show was Rockapella with the Boston Pops in the background. If I had known that Rockapella would be the main attraction, I would not have spent all that money. I wanted to hear the orchestra, not some group of 5 guys no one ever heard of before singing with the Boston Pops as their backup. Very disappointing show.

    Mood setting Concert

by AlbieJ on 12/2/11Auditorium Theatre - Chicago

This was their Christmas music concert. I was impressed with the sound that came from the orchestra. I came because I liked Rockapella and thought the combination of the two would be a great combo. It was, but I think I would have liked hearing the Boston Pops play more pieces without the vocal performers. I was impressed with Keith Lockhart's singing and dancing abilities! It was a memorable concert.
