Great start to the holiday season

by Anonymous on 12/2/11Auditorium Theatre - Chicago

I'm a big fan of classical music and in my opinion, there are no better performers than the Boston Pops. And that's saying something given the calibre of my home-town Chicago Symphony Orchestra.... All and all, great performance. The singer was amazing. Wasn't a huge fan of Rockapella's selections, but they worked well together.

Bought tickets to see Keith Lockhart and the Boston Pops as the show was advertised, NOT John Burkhardt and the Boston Pops. Lockhart is not only a great conductor but he is a great entertainer. He keeps the show flowing the music hopping and everyone into the music. Burkhardt had to read from cue cards (with no emotion,I might add) and even forgot to introduce himself and the Pops. Not a good show at all, and not what we paid for.

We really enjoyed all of the songs, most of which brought back good memories and the singers for the Cole Porter part of the program were wonderful to listen to.

    Boston Pops was tops

superb performance in a wonderful venue - the grounds at Bethel Woods are amazing, the interactive museum there is interesting but reflects just a small percentage of the young adults of that time period.

    Music to sooth the raindrops

by kips4NY on 8/8/11Bethel Woods Center for the Arts - Bethel

Despite the heavy rain, the Bethel staff were gracious to move many away from the driving wind and rain. The Boston Pops performance tribute to the legendary composers and song writers out performed the sounds of nature's music! Well done! Stay longer next time!

    Boston Pops is excellent

by NEPAwoman on 8/8/11Bethel Woods Center for the Arts - Bethel

The Boston Pops is always terrific. This performance was no exception. The guest conductor was great. The two singers in the 2nd portion of the program singing Cole Porter were show-stoppers! It was a rainy night and the Bethel Woods staff accomodated everyone, so no one was sitting in the rain.

    The Boston Pops exceeded expectatoins

by Pelk on 8/8/11Bethel Woods Center for the Arts - Bethel

Being from Pittsburgh, I have always watched the performances of the Boston Pops on television never expecting to see them in person. However, this past weekend at Bethel Woods, I was fortunate to secure tickets to their summer event. Despite the horrible rain and Pops were fabulous! They played songs from Gershwin which were perfect for the crowd and then went to Cole Porter after adminission. The surprise ending for me was hearing "Stars & Stripes Forver", by JP Sousa. What a way to end the evening! Bravo!

    Boston Pops at Bethel Woods

by againsam on 8/8/11Bethel Woods Center for the Arts - Bethel

I can't say enough for the Pops and Kelly O'Hara and Jason Danielly. They really gave a splendid Broadway program. However Bethel Woods Center is something else. The venue is beautiful, even akin to Tanglewood. That is where the comparison stops. The audience was one of the rudest I have ever seen. There was constant movement throughout the performance for people going for food. They seemed to have confused this venue with Yankee Stadium. There was constant talking, and during rhe second part of the program mass walkouts to get to their cars to beat the traffic. Again, they must have confused this place with the Theater at Westbury L.I. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing the Pops again, but never again at Bethel Woods.

    Boston Pops was Tops!

by GML1 on 8/8/11Bethel Woods Center for the Arts - Bethel

Despite this being a rainy night for an open air concert at Bethel Woods, the orchestra's performance was like a slice of sunshine to the ears. Their choice of music from Gershwin to Cole Porter was wonderful and their degree of musiciality was spectactular. The soloists were delightful during the second half and made the music come alive.

Despite the weather, it was a great time! We were given tickets for better seats to avoid getting wet. And the orchestra and singers were amazing!
