Boston Bruins History

Established in 1924, the Boston Bruins were the first American team to join the NHL(Opens in new tab). They won their first of six Stanley Cup championships in just their fifth season in 1929, defeating the defending champions New York Rangers. It was the first Stanley Cup championship to feature two U.S. teams. The Bruins added championships in 1939 and 1941, and between 1943 and 1958 they reached the final five more times.

After the arrival of future Hall of Famers Bobby Orr (a three-time MVP) and Phil Esposito (one of the greatest goal-scorers of all time and the first player to score 100 points in a season), the Bruins won Stanley Cup Championships in 1970 and 1972. The image of Orr flying through the air after scoring "The Goal" in overtime to defeat the St. Louis Blues in 1970 is one of the most memorable in hockey history.

On April 9, 2023, the Bruins beat the Philadelphia Flyers 5-3, marking their 63rd win of the season and setting a new NHL record for the most single-season wins. They made history again on April 12 when they reached 133 points scored in a single season thanks to a 5-2 win over the Washington Capitals, besting the 1976-77 Montreal Canadiens for the NHL team with the most points scored in a single season.

Twenty-nine straight appearances in the Playoffs followed — a record among all professional sports — including Stanley Cup Final appearances in 1974, 1977–1978, 1988, and 1990.

After a two-decade absence, the Bruins returned to the Stanley Cup Final in 2011, defeating the Vancouver Canucks in a thrilling seven-game series behind the goaltending of Tim Thomas. To date, the Bruins have made 20 appearances in the Stanley Cup Final, including most recently in 2019. Legendary players who have worn the Bruins’ jersey include Hall of Famers Cecil "Tiny" Thompson, Eddie Shore, and Aubrey "Dit" Clapper.

This was a Christmas gift for our son and a guest. From my understanding, a good time was had by all. It was not only fun and exciting but being in Boston and being a true sports fan, what is there not to like? Can't wait until next week to see the Bruins & Blackhawks!!!

  • Bruins Trash Trashers

    by kaldy52 on 12/31/09TD Garden - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

Garden revisited, Atlanta must be sick of the Bruins by now, foor the second time in 7 days they were outplayed, score could have been even higher! Great game, great clubseat.

  • Bruins were amazing!

by CapeCodBruinsFan on 12/26/09TD Garden - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

It was a great game and the seats, though in the second to last row, were actually better because we could see the entire rink perfectly. My only complaint was that we bought tickets in the "student section" (that allegedly required student IDs to enter) and it was filled with little kids, which we thought was really strange. But other than that, it was great!!

  • GREAT FUN WITH THE FAMILY!!

by HONDOO on 12/15/09TD Garden - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

THE FAMILY PRICED TICKETS ARE A EXCEPTIONAL VALUE! THERE IS NOTHING LIKE BEING THERE IN PERSON. THE UPPER BALCONY OR LODGE AS IT IS CALLED IS UP THERE BUT YOU CAN SEE ALL THE ACTION WELL. WE LOVED IT!

  • Really Good Game from Cheap Seats

    by ALGard86 on 12/15/09TD Garden - BostonRating: 4 out of 5

  • Bruins vs. Flyers

    by robocop09 on 12/15/09TD Garden - BostonRating: 4 out of 5

With the exception of the Bruins losing, this was a great game. Good venue to see a hockey game... no bad seats. I purchased tickets in the Tufts Family Section (Section 326) for a discounted rate and had really good seats. Best deal in town at $20 plus the ticketmaster fees!!!

  • What a game

by JMTAZ on 12/14/09TD Garden - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

This game was action packed with lots of goals, a fight, and a breakaway goal. The best part was taunting Kessel.

  • Awesome!!!!

we use "will call". Easy to get the tickets! Wonderfull game!!!

  • Bruins won! seats sucked.

    by northeastern2013 on 12/11/09TD Garden - BostonRating: 3 out of 5

Good game, the b's took it to the leafs, shut kessel up. Game had everything, goals, hits, fights, and moves. The only problem were the seats were terrible, top row is normally a good time, get to stand, its nice, but these were at the top of the walkway, so no one sat infront of you, but people would walk up and down constantly. Therefor every single person that gets up and walks up or down during the play gets in your way, and you'd be amazed how long it takes some people to find their seats. I've gone to about ten other games this season and so far these were by far the worse seats i have ever had (and again i am a big fan of the balcony 15th row, i like to stand the whole game). I would obviously recommend the B's to anyone, just not those exact seats, but pretty much any other ones.

  • Bruins games are a great night out!

    by Fuzzy83 on 12/11/09TD Garden - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

We saw a great game, hockey is a fast exciting sport & it is great to see the Bruins play at the Garden, with all the Bruins & Celtics banners hanging from the rafters. I would recommend getting the club seats at least one time, more expensive but worth it to visit the galleries & exibits before the game.

  • Go Bruins!

  • Boston Gardens Hockey - WOW

by JJFly on 12/8/09TD Garden - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

It was a great game - the ease of ticket purchase and using them to get into the game was great. A smooth transaction... The Boston Bruins really brought it to the Toronto Maple Leafs. It was great, high speed action.
