Boston Bruins History

Established in 1924, the Boston Bruins were the first American team to join the NHL(Opens in new tab). They won their first of six Stanley Cup championships in just their fifth season in 1929, defeating the defending champions New York Rangers. It was the first Stanley Cup championship to feature two U.S. teams. The Bruins added championships in 1939 and 1941, and between 1943 and 1958 they reached the final five more times.

After the arrival of future Hall of Famers Bobby Orr (a three-time MVP) and Phil Esposito (one of the greatest goal-scorers of all time and the first player to score 100 points in a season), the Bruins won Stanley Cup Championships in 1970 and 1972. The image of Orr flying through the air after scoring "The Goal" in overtime to defeat the St. Louis Blues in 1970 is one of the most memorable in hockey history.

On April 9, 2023, the Bruins beat the Philadelphia Flyers 5-3, marking their 63rd win of the season and setting a new NHL record for the most single-season wins. They made history again on April 12 when they reached 133 points scored in a single season thanks to a 5-2 win over the Washington Capitals, besting the 1976-77 Montreal Canadiens for the NHL team with the most points scored in a single season.

Twenty-nine straight appearances in the Playoffs followed — a record among all professional sports — including Stanley Cup Final appearances in 1974, 1977–1978, 1988, and 1990.

After a two-decade absence, the Bruins returned to the Stanley Cup Final in 2011, defeating the Vancouver Canucks in a thrilling seven-game series behind the goaltending of Tim Thomas. To date, the Bruins have made 20 appearances in the Stanley Cup Final, including most recently in 2019. Legendary players who have worn the Bruins’ jersey include Hall of Famers Cecil "Tiny" Thompson, Eddie Shore, and Aubrey "Dit" Clapper.

  • Bruins game time change

by VTLA on 3/22/10TD Garden - BostonRating: 4 out of 5

We were so excited to be flying back home to New England to see the 3 PM Bruins game-- unfortunately after we bought the tickets the time of the game was changed to 12:30 ( to accomodate national TV coverage) and since our plane did not land until 1:24 -- we could not get to the game in time..Luckily we purchased the insurance on our tickets.. So glad we did-- would recommend it! We are glad the Bruins won-- sorry we missed it!

The game was awesome! I can't wait to do it again.

  • Penguin/Bruins game

by penguinfans on 3/19/10TD Garden - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

Our 22 and 14 year old Pittsburgh Penguin fans attended and surely weren't disappointed! From having seats five rows behind the Penguin bench to watching a 3-0 winning game, they had the time of their lives. Tickets were best Christmas present ever! It was also nice that Governor Center Parking made it very nice for my husband and I to drive them in, and park nearby the TD Garden as well as Quincy Market and the North end - we spent the evening walking the town while they were at the game. A truly enjoyable evening for us all!! TD Garden is a great venue!!

Other than the Bruins losing it was a fun and exciting event

  • Disappointment

by lostanotherfan on 3/19/10TD Garden - BostonRating: 1 out of 5

What a disappointment. These are not the Bruins I expect. They truly let down their fans last night. And no doubt lost a lot of them. They lack of a sustained answer to the critics last night was a shock to me, and made me decide not to plan to buy any more tickets any time soon.

  • Section 319 was pretty nice.

by FranklinJim on 3/19/10TD Garden - BostonRating: 4 out of 5

I've sat in the Premium seats for the first Pens Bruins match-up this year and found the noise level (music) to be uncomfortable. So much so that I'll not sit ther again. Took the whole family to this game and sat in section319 and the sound system was much better. The view was very good and access was quick and easy. A uch better seat for much less money.

  • Great Seats.....too bad the bruins suck this year!

by SeanMichaelDane on 3/19/10TD Garden - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

I was in loge 6 row 1 directly behind the net. I have been to many games but have never sat here, these seats are amazing! and totally worth the money(so long as the teams are good)

  • GO BRUINS!!

    by Mella16 on 3/8/10TD Garden - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

We had great seats, the Bruins played well (especially the goalie) and went into overtime, winning in a shoot out!! ALL IN ALL AN AWESOME EVENING!

  • good game

  • Bruins can't get their act together

by luvmyboysbutseriously on 3/3/10TD Garden - BostonRating: 1 out of 5

with 6 players returning from olympic play, i was expecting a better game from our boys in black! they showed up for the 1st period and then let all hell break lose with Montreal scoring 4 unanswered goals in the last period. tickets are insanely overpriced for their performance. and even more upsetting that i find out seats all around me were snatched up later in the season for a fraction of the price. nice to see how they treat us die-hard fans... something's got to give in the Bruins management!

  • Washington Capitals were Great

    by CapsFan37 on 2/8/10TD Garden - BostonRating: 4 out of 5

We've been to many Caps/Bruins games since we live in Maine --and have held the Caps as our team ever since their AHL affiliate was the Portland Pirates. We stayed loyal to the parent team though all the ups --and especially the downs. It's nice to be able to see them this year performing so well. We do Miss Olie the Goalie #37 though. It's always great in Boston --even though some of the Bruins fans are very immature and obnoxious --for the most part we were treated well with our Caps Jerseys on. Some back and forth teasing comments are expected --the drunk profanity should not have to be tolerated.

  • I was fleeced

by cowpattie on 2/7/10TD Garden - BostonRating: 1 out of 5

209.00 dollars per ticket. 4 tickets. 1 lousy fight and an OT loss. You do the math. Enough said.

  • Bruins games are fun

    by Rharris722 on 2/6/10TD Garden - BostonRating: 4 out of 5

It was a fun game would have been better if the Bruins had won

  • game was unbelievable

    by bernieb2 on 2/5/10TD Garden - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

Even though the bruins lost, they came out smoking and scored two goals. We deffinately would recommend ticket master because they came through with the tickets very fast that i couldnt get anywhere else

  • b's vs habs

by dissapointedbeesfan on 2/5/10TD Garden - BostonRating: 2 out of 5

The B's lacked intensity, did not try, and did not care. I did not pay good money to see 2 teams play like their mom was forcing them to eat their vegetables.

  • the best venue

    by BFan12 on 2/3/10TD Garden - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

the only way it would be better is if the Bruins won. TD Garden is the a beautiful facility, the entrance and exit was non stressful and the seats comfy. The refreshments and bathroom facilities clean clean clean Very impressed :)

  • BRUINS

by PJTAUP on 2/3/10TD Garden - BostonRating: 1 out of 5

UCK!!!!! GO OUT AND GET A SHOOTER TO PUT THE PUCK IN THE NET. IT LOOKS LIKE POND HOCKEY. GET MAD, GET DETERMINED, GET GOING.

  • Razzle Dazzle

    by Frank5 on 2/3/10TD Garden - BostonRating: 3 out of 5

I can't stand the choice of music and its volumn. I've always enjoyed going to games with friends and talking between the action. Can't do it without yelling. I wish the Bruins would reduce the razzle dazzle.

  • Bruins seats crummy.

by chazmatz on 2/3/10TD Garden - BostonRating: 1 out of 5

I while back online I got balcony seats to the Bruins Caps game, thinking we'd get a pretty good view of the ice from a little higher up. I ended up getting assigned seats by ticketmaster, after the convenience charges, being over $40 per ticket, and got stuck all the way in the top of the venue, on one end of the ice. The first goal was so far away, we couldn't see it. And the jumbotron seemed small, even. I could touch the ceiling we were so high up. And it was in an aisle, so I had people constantly in front of me and my child the whole game. It was annoying to say the least. And our food total, with two hot dogs, a water and a beer was over 20. And parking was 35.00. Total rip. Next time, I'll just watch from home.

  • Bruins Blast

    by lilito12 on 1/31/10TD Garden - BostonRating: 4 out of 5

Loved it, I am somewhat new to the love for hockey. I do wish the price was a little more reasonable, or that the price was notice able in the performance of the Bruins, bottom line is I dont care what I pay, as much as I wanna see the Bruins compete every game.
