Boston Bruins History
Established in 1924, the Boston Bruins were the first American team to join the NHL(Opens in new tab). They won their first of six Stanley Cup championships in just their fifth season in 1929, defeating the defending champions New York Rangers. It was the first Stanley Cup championship to feature two U.S. teams. The Bruins added championships in 1939 and 1941, and between 1943 and 1958 they reached the final five more times.
After the arrival of future Hall of Famers Bobby Orr (a three-time MVP) and Phil Esposito (one of the greatest goal-scorers of all time and the first player to score 100 points in a season), the Bruins won Stanley Cup Championships in 1970 and 1972. The image of Orr flying through the air after scoring "The Goal" in overtime to defeat the St. Louis Blues in 1970 is one of the most memorable in hockey history.
On April 9, 2023, the Bruins beat the Philadelphia Flyers 5-3, marking their 63rd win of the season and setting a new NHL record for the most single-season wins. They made history again on April 12 when they reached 133 points scored in a single season thanks to a 5-2 win over the Washington Capitals, besting the 1976-77 Montreal Canadiens for the NHL team with the most points scored in a single season.
Twenty-nine straight appearances in the Playoffs followed — a record among all professional sports — including Stanley Cup Final appearances in 1974, 1977–1978, 1988, and 1990.
After a two-decade absence, the Bruins returned to the Stanley Cup Final in 2011, defeating the Vancouver Canucks in a thrilling seven-game series behind the goaltending of Tim Thomas. To date, the Bruins have made 20 appearances in the Stanley Cup Final, including most recently in 2019. Legendary players who have worn the Bruins’ jersey include Hall of Famers Cecil "Tiny" Thompson, Eddie Shore, and Aubrey "Dit" Clapper.

fandomania!!!!
by joerav on 7/15/10Baystate Cruise - BostonRating: 4 out of 5Had a GREAT time!! Seeing old friends from the Old Garden and sharing stories about great games. Only wish some alumni showed up!

The cruise itself was fun and entertaining. Jim Plunkett is what made the night enjoyable. I went expecting to see more Bruins Alumni and I did not see any. I know that it was an event for the Dana-Farber but it was sort of expressed that alumni would be there. Food was not that great considering that everyone that went had just come from work and had not eaten before hand. There could have been better food for those attending to choose from. At $25 a ticket I did expect more that I got. I would recommend to someone if all they wanted to do was drink all night.
3-0 meant nothing to the Flyers!
by flyershistory on 5/16/10TD Garden - BostonRating: 5 out of 5Great game! Got to see history and being on the winning side in the arena where I wasn't welcome made it that much better. Even though the Boston faithful did their best to put us down, it was no good. Glad to have been a part of this historic game and go Flyers!
Would of been better if B's Won
by NateGirard on 5/16/10TD Garden - BostonRating: 4 out of 5Can never forget an experience like this. It was amazing start to finish. I would always recommend a visit to the garden. It really is too bad that the Bruins didn't have the ability to pull out the crucial Game 7

Bruins Collapse
by Tswamp on 5/15/10TD Garden - BostonRating: 1 out of 5I have been a long time B's fan and that had to be the hardest game to watch in my life .... that being the 2nd and 3rd periods.

So sad! Would have thought they would have thanked the fans but I know they were embarrassed with such a historic loss!
Great event
by Bruinschoked on 5/15/10TD Garden - BostonRating: 5 out of 5This was the greatest hockey game I've ever been to. Wow! Bruins give up 3-0 lead at home in series in which they lead 3-0 in 7 game series. I am looking forward to more bruins collapses next year and for decades to come.
typical....again
by tbgs on 5/15/10TD Garden - BostonRating: 1 out of 5What can you say. Started out strong and could not hold the lead. Two many men on the ice, what a joke. They should know better. But I will be there next year for I am a true heart fan and someday before I leave this earth, I will see the team either not lose in game 7 again (Montreal anyone?) or win the cup. I did see the cup win in 1970 and 72.
sad
by OOSH on 5/15/10TD Garden - BostonRating: 1 out of 5sad night, i was so let down, but it happens. we'll just have to regroup and get it next year.
Flyers\Bruins Game 7
by GutterTheGreat on 5/15/10TD Garden - BostonRating: 5 out of 5Made the trip from Philadelphia at a chance to see history and did just that and it was worth getting home at 430am. Best NHL game I ever attend in my 35 years and I've been at 500+ games.
Bruins Choke
by haz293 on 5/15/10TD Garden - BostonRating: 2 out of 5The Bruins came out hustling & hitting & scored 3 goals, then they tried to just hang on. This is the same mistake they made all year. They work their butts off to score a goal & then give up cheap goals because of lack of hustle & hitting. They need to learn how to play a complete game, all 3 periods. Then & only then will they be the Big Bad Bruins again!
Bruins game 7...so sad
by nrtenaj on 5/15/10TD Garden - BostonRating: 3 out of 5Ughhhhhh....cant believe they lost! Season ticket holder and had to buy an extra ticket to see the game so my son could go too. Paid a lot for the ticket...sat in the seat during the third and final period of the season. Very sad to see them lose....

The do-nothing Bruins
by Anonymous on 5/11/10TD Garden - BostonRating: 2 out of 5The B's did not play like they wanted it at all. The final score was 4-0 flyers. I am more than disappointed by their performance!
Refund needed
by awestruck123 on 5/11/10TD Garden - BostonRating: 1 out of 5After the way the Bruins played last night, Ticketmaster should be offering a full refund...after giving up odd man rushes on 3 of their first five line changes--short ones too!!!--we knew we were in for a bad night...if we get 100 percent effort the outcome is almost secondary....we MAY have gotten 25 % last night...
Poor attempt at winning playoffs
by Beezfan on 5/11/10TD Garden - BostonRating: 1 out of 5No highlights, loud music with lame hockey, wish management would spend money on better team
