Boston Bruins History

Established in 1924, the Boston Bruins were the first American team to join the NHL(Opens in new tab). They won their first of six Stanley Cup championships in just their fifth season in 1929, defeating the defending champions New York Rangers. It was the first Stanley Cup championship to feature two U.S. teams. The Bruins added championships in 1939 and 1941, and between 1943 and 1958 they reached the final five more times.

After the arrival of future Hall of Famers Bobby Orr (a three-time MVP) and Phil Esposito (one of the greatest goal-scorers of all time and the first player to score 100 points in a season), the Bruins won Stanley Cup Championships in 1970 and 1972. The image of Orr flying through the air after scoring "The Goal" in overtime to defeat the St. Louis Blues in 1970 is one of the most memorable in hockey history.

On April 9, 2023, the Bruins beat the Philadelphia Flyers 5-3, marking their 63rd win of the season and setting a new NHL record for the most single-season wins. They made history again on April 12 when they reached 133 points scored in a single season thanks to a 5-2 win over the Washington Capitals, besting the 1976-77 Montreal Canadiens for the NHL team with the most points scored in a single season.

Twenty-nine straight appearances in the Playoffs followed — a record among all professional sports — including Stanley Cup Final appearances in 1974, 1977–1978, 1988, and 1990.

After a two-decade absence, the Bruins returned to the Stanley Cup Final in 2011, defeating the Vancouver Canucks in a thrilling seven-game series behind the goaltending of Tim Thomas. To date, the Bruins have made 20 appearances in the Stanley Cup Final, including most recently in 2019. Legendary players who have worn the Bruins’ jersey include Hall of Famers Cecil "Tiny" Thompson, Eddie Shore, and Aubrey "Dit" Clapper.

Seats way too expensive. Game was fun, It will be another 10 years probably til I/we go again. $42.00 for 3 Hot Dogs and 3 beers. Rediculous

  • by Wookie24 on 10/25/10TD Garden - BostonRating: 3 out of 5

Was great game even though we lost. Though having to wait almost 2 hours for the last train is ridiculous! There should be another train right after the game. People who want to go home shouldn't have to sit for a couple of hours in the station! Not sure I want to do it again.

The game was wonderful. I had never sat in the club seats before and they were great. The seats were very comfortable and the staff that came around was nice and not interfering. All in all it was a fun time and I would tell anyone to try out that section.

  • Who can't rate a B's game as a 5? Win or lose?

by Palish on 10/25/10TD Garden - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

Love the B's and there's not really a "bad" seat in there but I prefer loge and would have preferred a win :-)

  • Bruins played some good hockey

    by mcmike10688 on 10/23/10TD Garden - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

Once we got by Steven Tyler (terrible) The game was really exciting. All four of the Bruins lines played well. Tim Thomas was very strong in goal. They put together three strong periods. They said the power play was a problem, but the Bruins scored 3 power play goals. (first power play goals Washington has given up) At the end of the day everyone went home happy except the Capitals. They just went home.

  • Opening Night was absolutely unforgettable!

by Anonymous on 10/23/10TD Garden - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

Opening Night was absolutely unforgettable! I can't wait to go to more games! I went to at least 10 games last season and have sat in the balcony, club seats, and loge, and these seats were very good. It's just great being to close to the ice.

  • Bruins Rock!

by Tinabull on 10/23/10TD Garden - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

Awesome home opener. Steve Tyler opened the game singing star spangled banner. Great seats in the Loge. Try the caramel popcorn!

  • Great game, BUT

    by Mum1925 on 10/23/10TD Garden - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

Of course a win in Boston, on Opening Night for 2010/11 season is the best, I want to express how totally embarrassed I was by Steven Tyler's rendition of the National Anthem. It was outrageous and all I could do was sing it appropriately and try to ignore him. He was 'screaming' it - which is probably his style, but not respectful to our National Anthem. He was on the HD trinitron hanging from the ceiling with the words (but he should know them) scrolling along the bottom and he sang the incorrect words SEVERAL times!! I hope he NEVER is invited to do that again!! I have been to many games - most sung by Renee Rancourt, in a tuxedo with the respect deserving our National Anthem!! Shame on the Garden!!

  • GOOD TIMES AT THE GAHDEN

by LpnBoston on 10/23/10TD Garden - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

Terrific game by the Bruins this year. I like the new line up and they are playing increbibly well. Second period was so action packed, they way it should be. Tim Thomas looks terrific, liking Horton, Campbell, Caron, Sequin. I am optomistic this year!!!

  • Bruins!

by LadyDundee on 10/17/10TD Garden - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

Really awesome game even though the Bruins didn't win, me and my dad had a lot of fun! We had amazing seats for a really great price...7 rows behind Tuukka Rask!

  • Good seats, okay game

by BruinsSuperFan on 10/17/10TD Garden - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

Great seats for the price, glad Ticketmaster gave a discount from the ROOKIE games.

  • same old bruins

by togie on 10/1/10TD Garden - BostonRating: 3 out of 5

The Bruins looked the same as last season with new faces. A few flashey plays but no goals.Coach julien should have been let go after the horrible performance in the series against the Flyers. It felt like I had not left since last season. They just do not score goals! With the payroll cap you can no longer blame ownership. It boils down to a coaching system that can deal with million dollar players that do not perform. Boston deserves better.

  • Bruins sucked

by bosjake on 10/1/10TD Garden - BostonRating: 1 out of 5

these guys are pros? the only one that showed anything was Campbell, But we will see. My 11 Year old hockey nut son was so bored he wanted to leave and said he could school these guys if he was a little bigger, he may be right.

  • by LadyDundee on 9/24/10TD Garden - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

Awesome game! Had some good fights! I am so excited for the season to start!
