Boston Bruins History

Established in 1924, the Boston Bruins were the first American team to join the NHL(Opens in new tab). They won their first of six Stanley Cup championships in just their fifth season in 1929, defeating the defending champions New York Rangers. It was the first Stanley Cup championship to feature two U.S. teams. The Bruins added championships in 1939 and 1941, and between 1943 and 1958 they reached the final five more times.

After the arrival of future Hall of Famers Bobby Orr (a three-time MVP) and Phil Esposito (one of the greatest goal-scorers of all time and the first player to score 100 points in a season), the Bruins won Stanley Cup Championships in 1970 and 1972. The image of Orr flying through the air after scoring "The Goal" in overtime to defeat the St. Louis Blues in 1970 is one of the most memorable in hockey history.

On April 9, 2023, the Bruins beat the Philadelphia Flyers 5-3, marking their 63rd win of the season and setting a new NHL record for the most single-season wins. They made history again on April 12 when they reached 133 points scored in a single season thanks to a 5-2 win over the Washington Capitals, besting the 1976-77 Montreal Canadiens for the NHL team with the most points scored in a single season.

Twenty-nine straight appearances in the Playoffs followed — a record among all professional sports — including Stanley Cup Final appearances in 1974, 1977–1978, 1988, and 1990.

After a two-decade absence, the Bruins returned to the Stanley Cup Final in 2011, defeating the Vancouver Canucks in a thrilling seven-game series behind the goaltending of Tim Thomas. To date, the Bruins have made 20 appearances in the Stanley Cup Final, including most recently in 2019. Legendary players who have worn the Bruins’ jersey include Hall of Famers Cecil "Tiny" Thompson, Eddie Shore, and Aubrey "Dit" Clapper.

by Pezza on 3/20/24TD Garden - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

First visit to a hockey game and we wasn’t disappointed. Great view and atmosphere. Very exciting match even if I didn’t understand all the rules. Remember to take I.D as you need to show it to purchase a beer. Was a little surprised getting challenged as I’m in my 50’s .. Any sports fan visiting Boston must go see the Bruins

  • High Quality of Staff.

by Vermonter on 1/27/24TD Garden - BostonRating: 4 out of 5

Our first time at the Garden. From the lady we met at the parking garage coming in ... to lady we met going out, the staff at the garden could not have been nicer or more helpful. Security, ushers ... it was almost surreal. With the exception of Mike's Pastry the food concessions were incredibly overpriced. $15.56 for a bad cup of coffee and a pretzel?!?! Given the amount of alcohol that is made available there should be a Dunkin Donuts at every level right up thru the time the folks are leaving. Announcements and music were painfully loud. But ... it was magical to see the Bruins live. Oh ... did I mention that the staff at the Garden were exceptional. Many thanks to those folks.

  • Montreal Canadiens at Boston Bruins

by Emily on 1/24/24Rating: 5 out of 5

My husband and I sat in Loge 20 Row 15 seats 3 and 4 during this AMAZING game!!!! It was so much fun we both felt like these were the absolute perfect seats. We were sitting next to a middle aged couple from Toronto who are season pass holders but are Bruins fans. They were so amazing and made the game just that much more entertaining. The woman was wearing a half black half yellow wig wearing a signed Pasta jersey and the man was wearing a signed Coyle jersey (so was I and my husband was wearing a Marchand jersey) trying to see if we can find them again somehow!! But it was such a great game and great seats!!

The Bruins game was amazing. Ordering through Ticketmaster was so easy. I could see an example of the view from our seats before even buying the tickets.

  • Hockey? Hockey!

by Jen on 10/29/23TD Garden - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

Fiancé and I took in a game at TD Garden rooting for the visiting team. Actually, fiancé did the rooting, I was there to support him and see a live hockey game for the first time. It was amazing! Ticket prices were a bit steep, concessions even more so, but it was a memorable night and worth it for a special night out.

  • Grandson's first Bruins game

  • Section 301

by Die Hard Bruins Fan on 4/30/23Rating: 3 out of 5

Been going to B's games since the early 80's. Always seems like one big Family. Not in 301. Very uptight people in this section. I was in the front row of this section for game 5 on Wednesday, great seats. The game hadn't started yet. The National Anthem hadn't been sung yet. The guy behind my told me to sit down. The peanut gallery chimed in "Down in front". I was at the game with my Daughter. Give your money to someone else. People in this section think they own it. They should pull the ball point pens out of there Asses and try to ENJOY the experience. Anyway, good luck.
