Boston Bruins History

Established in 1924, the Boston Bruins were the first American team to join the NHL(Opens in new tab). They won their first of six Stanley Cup championships in just their fifth season in 1929, defeating the defending champions New York Rangers. It was the first Stanley Cup championship to feature two U.S. teams. The Bruins added championships in 1939 and 1941, and between 1943 and 1958 they reached the final five more times.

After the arrival of future Hall of Famers Bobby Orr (a three-time MVP) and Phil Esposito (one of the greatest goal-scorers of all time and the first player to score 100 points in a season), the Bruins won Stanley Cup Championships in 1970 and 1972. The image of Orr flying through the air after scoring "The Goal" in overtime to defeat the St. Louis Blues in 1970 is one of the most memorable in hockey history.

On April 9, 2023, the Bruins beat the Philadelphia Flyers 5-3, marking their 63rd win of the season and setting a new NHL record for the most single-season wins. They made history again on April 12 when they reached 133 points scored in a single season thanks to a 5-2 win over the Washington Capitals, besting the 1976-77 Montreal Canadiens for the NHL team with the most points scored in a single season.

Twenty-nine straight appearances in the Playoffs followed — a record among all professional sports — including Stanley Cup Final appearances in 1974, 1977–1978, 1988, and 1990.

After a two-decade absence, the Bruins returned to the Stanley Cup Final in 2011, defeating the Vancouver Canucks in a thrilling seven-game series behind the goaltending of Tim Thomas. To date, the Bruins have made 20 appearances in the Stanley Cup Final, including most recently in 2019. Legendary players who have worn the Bruins’ jersey include Hall of Famers Cecil "Tiny" Thompson, Eddie Shore, and Aubrey "Dit" Clapper.

  • Nice Night

by Bitskie on 1/8/14TD Garden - BostonRating: 4 out of 5

Seeing the Bruins is always a good time. The club seats are worth it for special occasions. The only thing is, you would expect for the price to get better service from the servers. It took three tries to get an order each time. It was busy, but that is the job. I was hoping for better. Other than that, would do it again.

My family and I made it through the snowstorm to get to the TD garden for the Boston Bruins vs. Nashville Predators. I had never seen a hockey game at the TD Garden before but enjoyed it thoroughly. Food and alcohol was overly priced, as is at any sports venue. The beer garden on the balcony level had fantastic craft beer selections on tap. SEAT REVIEW: BAL322, Row 5 I had been told that balcony seats were no good, however it was all that was available when I went to buy the tickets. I was very pleasantly surprised at our seats! I thought our seats gave a great view so that we could see everything happening, and weren't too far away that we would lose track of the puck. My only negative about these seats were that I wish I had been on the side where the Bruins would have been shooting for two of the periods. But that would have only required a little extra research on my part and is not the fault of the Garden. See uploaded picture for view from seats.

  • Great Experience with the Kids!

by VaryOriginal on 1/3/14TD Garden - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

I took my boys to their first hockey game on New Years Eve at TD Garden. The family section is great! You have a good view of the ice and feel comfortable you won't be surrounded by drunks or hear much if any profanity during the game. The family section is an excellent idea Boston Bruins and TD Garden!!

Was in Box 604 with my family! There were 22 of us. Waitress service was great, kids really enjoyed the evening and the game (5-0) was nothing short of spectacular!! Thank Mary Freeman for her attention to all of the detail involved in securing the box, menu issues, etc. She was attentive, friendly and "got the job done"!

We had my favorite seats in the house; up front for all the action!! Great staff in the area keeping things in check and the Bruins brought their A game as always. Hard hitting/fast paced fun with my Dad for his first game ever!! Well worth it!!! Wish I could go more often!!

  • Bruins - Blue Jackets

by ARuggles on 12/4/13TD Garden - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

I truly enjoyed the venue of TD Garden: the seats, the game, the staff within the Garden, virtually everything about the evening. And the fact the Bruins won made it even better. The seat service was exceptional, just wish I could remember the lady's name. She was great - very nice and helpful. The world needs more people like her.

  • The Bruins were great

by momfromlincoln on 12/3/13TD Garden - BostonRating: 4 out of 5

Both my husband and I had a great time and our two sons ages 5 and 7 had a blast. I would take them again. The only 2 things that made this night recommended rather than amazing was that the goalie my son loves did not play Tuca Rask and that Renee Rancort did not sign the National Anthem

  • Excellent night @ the garden

by ZZDerek on 12/3/13TD Garden - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

Never had been to the new garden before the seats we had were great. We could see the entire ice without having to look at the monitor. Food selection at the concessions was very good although pricey All in all a great night out with the family...

  • Bruins-Rangers

by SarasotaSteve on 12/2/13TD Garden - BostonRating: 1 out of 5

I paid $300 for two seats that were in the very last row of the balcony, in a corner that the Bruins defend for two periods. There was an announced hat giveaway, but we were not given hats, as we were told that they were reserved for Fan Fanatics! But the ad indicated that they would be given to the first 10,000 people admitted to the building. That did not prove to be the case. Very disappointing afternoon, although it was a great game.

  • The bruins were amazing

Great seats. A bit expensive. TD is a clean, classy arena. Bruins playing good hockey. I would recommend taking your children to an afternoon game any time you get the chance.
