Boston Bruins History

Established in 1924, the Boston Bruins were the first American team to join the NHL(Opens in new tab). They won their first of six Stanley Cup championships in just their fifth season in 1929, defeating the defending champions New York Rangers. It was the first Stanley Cup championship to feature two U.S. teams. The Bruins added championships in 1939 and 1941, and between 1943 and 1958 they reached the final five more times.

After the arrival of future Hall of Famers Bobby Orr (a three-time MVP) and Phil Esposito (one of the greatest goal-scorers of all time and the first player to score 100 points in a season), the Bruins won Stanley Cup Championships in 1970 and 1972. The image of Orr flying through the air after scoring "The Goal" in overtime to defeat the St. Louis Blues in 1970 is one of the most memorable in hockey history.

On April 9, 2023, the Bruins beat the Philadelphia Flyers 5-3, marking their 63rd win of the season and setting a new NHL record for the most single-season wins. They made history again on April 12 when they reached 133 points scored in a single season thanks to a 5-2 win over the Washington Capitals, besting the 1976-77 Montreal Canadiens for the NHL team with the most points scored in a single season.

Twenty-nine straight appearances in the Playoffs followed — a record among all professional sports — including Stanley Cup Final appearances in 1974, 1977–1978, 1988, and 1990.

After a two-decade absence, the Bruins returned to the Stanley Cup Final in 2011, defeating the Vancouver Canucks in a thrilling seven-game series behind the goaltending of Tim Thomas. To date, the Bruins have made 20 appearances in the Stanley Cup Final, including most recently in 2019. Legendary players who have worn the Bruins’ jersey include Hall of Famers Cecil "Tiny" Thompson, Eddie Shore, and Aubrey "Dit" Clapper.

  • Great family Fun!

Excellent venue and seeing our beloved Boston Bruins play live is such a blast! The fact that they won made it extra spectacular! The Garden crowd is always loud and proud in support of our home teams. Remember to wear your black and gold to show your love and you might even end up seeing yourselves on the jumbotron!!! I highly recommend taking in a Bruin's home game. It's an experience you won't soon forget and a great way to spend the day together as a family.

Nice arena, good game. However, very upset by change in game time from 7:30 pm to 12:30pm with 2 weeks notice when we were flying in just to see the game. Plane scheduled to land 1 hr before game time. Fortunately, things went well and we made it. Appreciate the message from Ticketmaster alerting us to the change but not the suggestion to resell the tickets or give them to a friend if the time change didn't work. That doesn't recoup the 2 airline fares and prepaid hotel room we booked months before for this event. The arena or NHL should not make these last minute time changes.

Great game. The only issue I had was when the Bruins scored with 15 seconds left and the A#@! hole behind me (A Flyers fan) spilled his beer all over me. When I turned around his response was, "What?" Not my fault Philly hasn't won a championship in years.

  • Bruins are always awesome!

Loge boxes, while expensive in Boston, are worth it. Great seats with good sight lines all the way around the ice. Good game too, too bad the Bruins lost.

  • Boston Bruins at TD Garden Boston

    by Sassyb62 on 3/3/15TD Garden - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

The arena is immaculate with the nicest staff ever. The Boston Bruins Foundation raised $25,000 (that night) by 50/50 raffle, the proceeds going to Special Olympics. As for hockey, the Bruins are the bomb no matter where they play.

  • Loss to the Stars.

Love coming to the garden to watch our favortie hockey team.

  • Bruins and seats were awesome

by Shonomercey on 2/13/15TD Garden - BostonRating: 4 out of 5

When I purchased the tickets I thought for sure they were going to be crappy seats. But much to our surprise they were actually great seats. The only issue I had was the parking. Paid 42 for reserved parking and ended up on the very lowest level of the parking garage and ended up taking over an hour and a half to finally get out of the parking garage.

  • Great game against the Islanders

  • Balcony on Saturday night with Kids

by MaineVisitors on 1/20/15TD Garden - BostonRating: 2 out of 5

Unfortunately the drunks behind us were inconsiderate, foul mouthed, and loud during the whole game. The guy behind me kept hitting me in the head as head leaned forward to text. Matinee next time.

  • 1st time at TD Garden

by WilliamFromCT on 1/18/15TD Garden - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

The balcony seats at TD Garden are outstanding; even better than the picture on website. I have been to MSG in NYC many times and was expecting the long distance view you get from the "blue" seats. Seat was easy to locate with food, drinks, and restrooms nearby.

  • by Anonymous on 1/18/15TD Garden - BostonRating: 2 out of 5

Ticketmaster app to get the electronic tickets did not work at the gate and I had to go back to the ticket office to have them print tickets. Very embarrassing because we were with customers. Would highly recommend printing ahead of time.

  • by BruinsFan1234 on 1/17/15TD Garden - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

It was a great game and the seats were awesome!!you could see everything going on no matter what team was on which goal and you were high enough to see the ice and all the action!! I loved it!!

  • Great game

Received an email from Ticketmaster with a reduced price. Great

  • Bruins provide another lackluster performance

    by JayB77 on 1/6/15TD Garden - BostonRating: 3 out of 5

I hope Chiarelli makes a move to help this team and it's future. Paying $200+ for a family to go see this team perform absurd! I expect a better product on the ice!
