Boise State Broncos Women’s Basketball History

The Boise State Broncos women's basketball team began competing in the Northwest Women's Basketball League in 1977. After moving to the Mountain West Athletic Conference in 1982, the Broncos continued to the Big Sky Conference in 1988, the Big West Conference in 1996, the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) in 2001 and finally the Mountain West Conference in 2011. Ahead of the 2026-27 season, the Broncos will join the Pac-12 Conference.

Across conferences, the Broncos are six-time conference regular season champions. The team also won the WAC Tournament Championship in 2007, as well as Mountain West Tournament titles in 2015 and four times consecutively from 2017 to 2020. For the women’s NCAA Tournament, the Broncos have made First Round appearances in 1994, 2007, 2015, 2017, 2018 and 2019. Additionally, the Broncos earned their third spot in the Women's National Invitation Tournament in 2024. Head coach Gordy Presnell has guided the Boise State women’s basketball team since 2005.

Boise State Broncos Women’s Basketball at ExtraMile Arena

The Broncos play at ExtraMile Arena on the Boise State University campus in Boise, Idaho. Replacing Bronco Gymnasium, the former BSU Pavilion opened in 1982. The venue holds a capacity of 12,644 in a basketball configuration, but can hold a maximum of 13,390 for select events. ExtraMile Arena hosts both the men’s and women’s basketball teams, and the gymnastics team at Boise State, and has often been the site for conference tournament matches and early stages of NCAA March Madness.
