BoDeans blow the roof off in Kansas City
by jcbmtn on 2/12/13Knuckleheads - Kansas CityRating: 5 out of 5What an awesome concert this was, absolutely mindblowing. Kurt Neumann and company were on fire all night, playing to an overflowing sold out crowd. The place was going wild, dancing, jumping up and down, singing along, and having a blast the entire night. The new songs off "American Made" were the best new BoDeans songs in many years. Flyaway, Absolutely, American, and Shake The Fever were fantastic. And of course they played all of Kurt's anthems he wrote in the past like Idaho, Fadeaway, You Don't Get Much, Good Work, Dreams, Angels etc.. they were extremly powerful and Kurts guitar work is incendiary. Those who are complaining Sam Llanas left the band, so what, he was never the leader of this band, and is not missed in the least. Certainly wasn't missed at this concert, the crowd was TOTALLY into it big time. The BoDeans are in fact better than they have ever been, and the "newer" more rugged sound is awesome. Neumann's guitar playing has never been better, he was mindblowing, creating a huge wall of sound that was crisp and powerful but not overbearing. The addition of Warren Hood on fiddle, with regulars Bukka Allen on accordian / keyboards and Noah Levy on drums is indeed the "real" band, and the new songs are some of the best BoDeans music ever put on an album by this incredible band.
