BOBBY VINTON IN CONCERT:
Legendary pop crooner Bobby Vinton skyrocketed to success in the early ‘60s with a string of wistful hits that established him as “The Polish Prince,” a nod to his Polish-American heritage. More than half a century later Vinton’s voice has the same romantic power that helped carry him to the top, especially on hits like “Mr. Lonely” and "There, I've Said It Again." Taking the stage with a nine-piece orchestra conducted by his son and dueting with his talented daughters, Vinton will treat fans to “Blue Velvet” and all the rest of his greatest hits on a highly anticipated string of 2014 tour dates.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Born in Pennsylvania in 1935, Vinton inherited an interest in music from his bandleader father, and his parents encouraged his musical development by tying his daily allowance to the completion of clarinet practice. Forming his first band at age 15, he earned enough money playing shows to put himself through school at Duquesne University, where he earned a degree in music composition. After several unsuccessful early releases, Vinton took matters into his own hands for the promotion and distribution of 1962’s “Roses Are Red (My Love),” with fantastic results – the song peaked at No. 1 on the pop charts, remaining there for four weeks. A string of chart-topping classics would follow, including “Mr. Lonely” and his best-known recording “Blue Velvet.” The years have treated Vinton’s dreamy voice in a manner befitting a prince, and fans at his upcoming shows can expect a truly stellar walk down memory lane.
FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:
“Bobby's voice is just as good as ever and the playlist included all his big hits. He came down into the audience and interacted allowing photographs, kisses, hugs, whatever anyone wanted…”
“Music with a melody, a classy orchestra, and I was amazed at his instrumental abilities. That was a pleasant surprise. Wonderful that his family was a part of the show.”
“He looks the same as he did 50 years ago, is in great shape, has the strongest voice ever, sang all his big ones and covered many others! His son leads the 9 piece orchestra that backs him and his 2 daughters sing. And…he plays the trumpet, sax and clarinet like nobody's business!”
This was a super good show for all ages. He sang, played different insterments and had his kids with him too. would go again.
It was my first time at the hard rock for a concert. It was wonderful. We had second row and that was great. The seats were real confy and very easy to get too. I would do it again in a heart beat. Maybe next time front row. And by the way that is where we saw Bobby Vinton last was at the Front Row in Highland Hgts. Ohio. Been a long time.
Bobby Vinton is a great entertainer. His show had variety as well as all his old favorites. I would attend again if he came back to the Rocksino.
Amazed by the energy he produced. Loved that he included his son and daughter in his show.
We loved all the songs and Bobby's impersonations of the other singers in his past.
Bobby Vinton put on a terrific show. I would love to see him come back soon. His voice is amazing.
Bobby put on a very good show, he was as always friendly and energetic, I did not like the fact that the casino did not allow flash photography during the show, And no cameras back stage. But once again great show, great time.
Bobby Vinton's performance exceeded my expectations. Not only did he sing his most popular songs, but he was amazing playing five different instruments and singing a song from the Phantom of the Opera with his daughter (an amazing singer, herself). It was amazing learning how his son and daughter are part of his performance and it is truly amazing that his voice is as good as it every was, being 79 years of age! An amazing performance. Did I tell you how amazing this concert was???
Bobby Vinton is not only a great singer, but is a very talented musician and comedian. My sisters and I surprised my Mom with tickets because Bobby was her teenage heartthrob. We went for her but all were amazed at what a great show it was.
Given that Bobby Vinton is getting up in years, this was an amazing show. He performed for an hour and 45 minutes, with only short breaks for his daughter to sing. Near the end of the show, he still had enough in the tank to do a high energy, rousing rendition of Orbison's crying. Unfortunately, the stage set up at Rocksino did not allow him to come down into the audience for his trademark interaction.
Bobby Vinton put on an awesome show!!! He may have gotten older but his voice is so strong and he sounds just as amazing as he did in the sixties. It's a must see show!
Bobby Vinton has not lost one bit of his energy and talent over the years - if anything, he's better! We were so glad that we went and would love to see him again. He's truly a legend!
The man has still got it!! He was entertaining the whole night. It was enjoyable seeing him perform with his children.
Bobby puts on a very good show, very entertaining and non stop music
Bobby Vinton along with his daughter and son was a great show .I did not know he could play musical instruments. His old songs were a memory from the past. Bobby going into the audience and having them participate along was a special moment. I hope that he continues concerts and brings his family along.
Totally enjoyed the entire show...Bobbie Vinton was great, as well his daughter and son. Never realized he played so many different instruments and enjoyed the variety of songs...from oldies to opera. Great music, great band and some fun jokes to round out the show.
this was one of the best concerts ever, He is Wonderful!!!!
This was a great show. I had never seen Bobby Vinton in a show before. I did not realize he was so talented as a musician as well as a singer. Loved it! Brought back so many memories.
Bobby Vinton has a new fan. I made plans to take my parents to Atlantic City for mom's 81st birthday and I knew they would enjoy Bobby Vinton. Great luck that he was playing on mom's actual birthday August 9th. My parents had a fantastic time, but what is most surprising, is that I truly enjoyed myself. I'm 48 years old and grew up knowing many of Bobby Vinton's songs. So, I wasn't surprised when I could sing along. But it's not just the songs that made this evening so enjoyable, it was Bobby Vinton's whole performance. The songs you expected were a blast and he intermingled the expected with the unexpected (I won't ruin any surprises). I didn't know how talented he was on multiple instruments, and was impressed by how he could "blow!" Add some classics jokes, walking through the audience, and you got the whole package (and he did it all even though he had picked up a bug in Canada). The show had a nice pace and wasn't too long or too short....very well done. I completely recommend this event to old and young alike....it was truly an enjoyable night.
It was really enjoyable. The songs brought back memories of my youth. HIs daughter wasn't that good uintil she sang the song from Les Miserable. Then she was great and should sing that type of song because it suits her very well. The country song didn't.
