Legendary pop crooner Bobby Vinton skyrocketed to success in the early ‘60s with a string of wistful hits that established him as “The Polish Prince,” a nod to his Polish-American heritage. More than half a century later Vinton’s voice has the same romantic power that helped carry him to the top, especially on hits like “Mr. Lonely” and "There, I've Said It Again." Born in Pennsylvania in 1935, Vinton inherited an interest in music from his bandleader father, and his parents encouraged his musical development by tying his daily allowance to the completion of clarinet practice. Forming his first band at age 15, he earned enough money playing shows to put himself through school at Duquesne University, where he earned a degree in music composition. After several unsuccessful early releases, Vinton took matters into his own hands for the promotion and distribution of 1962’s “Roses Are Red (My Love),” with fantastic results – the song peaked at No. 1 on the pop charts, remaining there for four weeks. A string of chart-topping classics would follow, including “Mr. Lonely” and his best-known recording “Blue Velvet.” The years have treated Vinton’s dreamy voice in a manner befitting a prince, and fans at his upcoming shows can expect a truly stellar walk down memory lane.
