About

BOBBY VINTON IN CONCERT:

Legendary pop crooner Bobby Vinton skyrocketed to success in the early ‘60s with a string of wistful hits that established him as “The Polish Prince,” a nod to his Polish-American heritage. More than half a century later Vinton’s voice has the same romantic power that helped carry him to the top, especially on hits like “Mr. Lonely” and "There, I've Said It Again." Taking the stage with a nine-piece orchestra conducted by his son and dueting with his talented daughters, Vinton will treat fans to “Blue Velvet” and all the rest of his greatest hits on a highly anticipated string of 2014 tour dates.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Born in Pennsylvania in 1935, Vinton inherited an interest in music from his bandleader father, and his parents encouraged his musical development by tying his daily allowance to the completion of clarinet practice. Forming his first band at age 15, he earned enough money playing shows to put himself through school at Duquesne University, where he earned a degree in music composition. After several unsuccessful early releases, Vinton took matters into his own hands for the promotion and distribution of 1962’s “Roses Are Red (My Love),” with fantastic results – the song peaked at No. 1 on the pop charts, remaining there for four weeks.  A string of chart-topping classics would follow, including “Mr. Lonely” and his best-known recording “Blue Velvet.” The years have treated Vinton’s dreamy voice in a manner befitting a prince, and fans at his upcoming shows can expect a truly stellar walk down memory lane.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

“Bobby's voice is just as good as ever and the playlist included all his big hits. He came down into the audience and interacted allowing photographs, kisses, hugs, whatever anyone wanted…”

“Music with a melody, a classy orchestra, and I was amazed at his instrumental abilities. That was a pleasant surprise. Wonderful that his family was a part of the show.”

“He looks the same as he did 50 years ago, is in great shape, has the strongest voice ever, sang all his big ones and covered many others! His son leads the 9 piece orchestra that backs him and his 2 daughters sing. And…he plays the trumpet, sax and clarinet like nobody's business!”

    Bobby Vinton

by Glories on 7/15/09Penn's Peak - Jim Thorpe

Once again, I was very thoroughly entertained by Bobby Vinton. Bobby Vinton is the best entertainer to ever grace a stage, so good that I have seen him perform 5 times in the last 3 years! He not only sings, but entertains everyone by playing many differant instruments, as well as telling little stories of his life in the business. The stamina of the man at his age is amazing as well as the fact he can still reach those high notes! I will most certainly go see him again when he comes back to the Tri-State area. I know I will not be disappointed!

    Bobby Vinton

by JanLynn on 7/15/09Penn's Peak - Jim Thorpe

Bobby Vinton was very good and I would recommend people seeing him. BUT, what I wouldn't recommend is Penn's Peak. This was the first time I was there and had no idea how the seating arrangements were, therefore picking ones that looked to be good on the chart. What we got for $56.00 (seating plus fees etc. ) was AWFUL!!!!!!! We were upstairs on the back row against the wall sitting on bar stools!!!!!! They were so uncomfortable!!!!!! Plus the big screens they had weren't zoomed in close enough and only one was used. I was so disappointed and mad at the nerve of Penn's Peak charging that kind of money to sit on a bar stool!!!!!!! I never did see Bobby Vinton up close on the screen. He was good but Penn's Peak stinks.

    Fantastic!

by Bethy on 7/14/09Penn's Peak - Jim Thorpe

Bobby Vinton's show was fantastic. The 50's music afforded us the pleasure of words we could understand & something we could dance to or just sit, listen & tap our toes to. Bobby Vinton's songs will never go out of style. His band & family who accompanied him were enjoyable as well. I would go see him in concert again in a heartbeat.

Bobby Vinton is as good as ever!!

by MeggieandWally on 7/14/09Penn's Peak - Jim Thorpe

This was our second time seeing Bobby Vinton at Penn's Peak. His performance and the overall quality of the venue made it a truly enjoyable evening. He is still as good as ever and his songs bring back many great memories of a time less troubling than what we live in now. It was a joy to be taken away to the songs of "old".

Great performer in a poor venue

by Bossbove on 7/14/09Penn's Peak - Jim Thorpe

Bobby Vinton is ageless. His voice and stage presence are as great as always. Have watched his performances over the last 10 years and have never been disappointed He sings all his hits and makes it a terrific evening as long as he is on stage. However his son and daughter are part of the performance and add little value to the show. His daughter is not a skilled performed nor does she have a good singing voice. His son is just acceptable. This venue is extremely poor. All the seats are on the same level and are of the folding chair variety. Makes for a very uncomfortable evening jammed together with a poor view of the stage.

OMG! I saw Bobby Vinton twice at the Bloomsburg Fair 35 years ago and he is as great now as he was then. Even though I think I was the youngest one in the crowd, I had a great time. Can't wait to see him again:)
