BOB’S BURGERS LIVE

Zany animated sitcom Bob’s Burgers is going from the small screen to the theater stage for the exciting new Bob’s Burgers Live tour. Ticket buyers will be treated to an evening of stand-up performances from show creator Loren Bouchard as well as comedy veterans H. Jon Benjamin, Kristen Schaal, Eugene Mirman, Dan Mintz and John Roberts -- or, as they’re better known, the Belcher family. The evening will also include several animated vignettes, a script reading, and an audience Q&A. For fans of the show, this promises to be a unique and laughter-filled way to get to know the people behind the voices and characters that have made the show so consistently hilarious.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Bob’s Burgers is the brainchild of animator Loren Bouchard, who also created beloved animated shows Lucy the Daughter of the Devil and Home Movies (with co-creator Brendan Small). H. Jon Benjamin and his inimitable voice have been involved prominently with all three shows, along with roles on Archer and Family Guy. Joining Benjamin on stage are cast members Kristen Schaal (The Daily Show), Eugene Mirman (Delocated), John Roberts (guest on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon), and Dan Mintz (guest on Mulaney), who add even more humor and talent to the mix  for an uproarious, must-see evening.

    Wanting more

by Numbchucks527 on 3/29/15Tower Theatre - Upper Darby

As a fan of the Bob's Burgers television show, I was super excited and intrigued for the live performance. I went to the show not knowing what to expect, it was the first time I was seeing a "live" TV show. I thought it started out ok with the standup routines from each performer. Most had funny segments, but no one made a huge impression on me. Kristin Schaal started out very funny with her widow segment, but lost my attention during her extended Emily Dickinson performance. Shockingly, H. Jon Benjamin was my least favorite performer, from bashing Philadelphia to reading from an unfunny notebook to a horrible piano skit that sounded like a child seeking attention from his parents. The song medley between creator Loren & "Linda" was supposedly unrehearsed and why? I felt ripped off, spending money for two tickets and travel expenses. I was insulted by Loren's comment that our audience prefers performances to be "unpolished". Watching the unseen Bob's Burgers shows was interesting. Probably the best part was the table read. The Q&A should've been skipped. Totally boring to both the performers and audience. Both my boyfriend and I were left wanting more and what I struggle with most is that its left a bad taste in my mouth for Bob's Burgers, the TV show, even though the actual animated series is fantastic. The worst feeling I got was after the show when I read prior reviews... apparently they have done the same show in years past, with the exact same jokes and performances. The fact that they can't "polish" a show and improve on it in 2 years time really left me disappointed.

    Blah

The actors performed standup that seemed barely prepared. Continually making fun of Philadelphia is played out and over get something new please.

    Fantastic!

by JosseKay on 3/28/15State Theatre - Minneapolis

Hilarious and entertaining the entire night. They even handled the obnoxious drunk people that were shouting things out or asking odd questions at the Q&A. Everyone was laughing the entire show, and I gotta say Kristen Schaal's set got the best audience response of the night. Hope they do another BBL tour!

Long wait, short show...no reference to Bobs Burge

by MichelleBell33 on 3/25/15The Fillmore Detroit - Detroit

Long wait, short show...stand up comedy that had no reference to the cartoon show!! Why weren't the actors doing Bobs Burgers skits??? $45 wasted... Very disappointed...

Half Cocked Show needed more "Bob's Burgers"

by Dragoninkgirl on 3/25/15The Fillmore Detroit - Detroit

I was really looking forward to this show - and although I wasn't sure what to expect - the performance was disappointing. During the first part of the show - the cast members performed stand up comedy routines. Several of the comics were reading their jokes from scraps of paper..the whole thing seemed very off the cuff, and not in a good way. Also the comedy was definitely "adult" with sexual references, and at times downright depressing (the actor who played Bob did a bit about his depressing life). Not a problem for me - but I saw a family in the front row exit the show with their small children. Buyer beware - Bob's Burger's LIVE is not for youngsters. The best part of the show was the live table reading of 2/3 of an upcoming episode by the cast members. That was fantastic. Overall this show needed (1) rehearsal (2) More Bob's Burgers themed performance and less dysfunctional comedians doing unrehearsed stand up...

    Bob's Burgers Live...a Blast!!

    by Kirch0708 on 3/25/15State Theatre - Minneapolis

Each cast member did a unique stand-up routine that did not disappoint. Three clips included a really cool Halloweeen episode that was still in the works...and looks awesome!!Prior to the cast episode reading, they did a music segment from the episodes with the ukele. Loved that! It was a real treat to see these cast members do an episode reading. The Q&A at the end was good as well.

    Bob's burgers is ingenious

    by fenny01 on 3/25/15State Theatre - Minneapolis

It was the first show of the tour so there were some kinks to work out, but it added to the evening seeing them wing it. The stand up parts were funny, as well as the table read. The Q & A part at the end was a bit long, but again it was the first show so I'm sure the tightened it up. Overall very funny and I would recommend it to any fan of the show.

    Good time!

by Frankie60 on 3/25/15The Fillmore Detroit - Detroit

Everyone was funny. My wife and I had a great time. Time on the ticket is what time THE DOORS OPEN. I wish they would have made fun of Detroit less- since we were in Detroit. Overall though it was a lot of fun.

    Hilarious!

by ToriRaeS on 3/25/15The Fillmore Detroit - Detroit

Absolutely hysterical, it was so fun to see the actors as themselves, and then using their character voices. Fair warning though- NOT kid friendly.

Very good show. It started with individual stand-up. Kristen Schaal had the best set. She had the house laughing at this great Emily Dickinson bit. Then they did a script reading of an un-aired show which was very funny. It was rewarding to use our imagination to imagine the scenes. Finally they had a Q&A. Also they played some clips from upcoming episodes.

Bob's Burgers Live Was a Big Disappointment

by JonChicago on 3/23/15The Chicago Theatre - Chicago

We love Bob's Burgers and will always watch the show but this was a big letdown. The table reading was great but the standup was terrible for the most part and we really like all of the comics that are a part of the show. Maybe we had really high expectations but we went with a group of 8 and everyone was disappointed. The intro music was a high point also though.

    Bob's Burgers live was amazing!

by CBews on 3/23/15The Chicago Theatre - Chicago

We had so much fun at this event. The cast did some stand-up routines, which were hilarious, a couple skits and then the table read. We even got to see some sneak peeks at a couple upcoming episodes. I need more Bob's Burgers, live or not!

Bobs Burgers was a great show, would see again

by birdman6709 on 3/23/15The Chicago Theatre - Chicago

It was a great time, theatre was packed and all the voice characters were great, each did their own standup for a few minutes, then came out together to read a script, giving you the actual inside method on how they perform. Its great to see the voices associated to these great characters, and how great the people are behind the voice. Overall I would probably see again, hopefully ill find out a little before hand and save myself some money.
