  • BLUES TRAVELER SHOULD'VE BEEN BETTER...

by MAUIWOWIE on 9/16/15Variety Playhouse - AtlantaRating: 2 out of 5

I was really expecting a lot from this band, bu was really disappointed. John, the lead singer, was fantastic on harmonica, but was visibly drunk. He had several solo cups and turned his back to the audience more than I have ever seen from any other performer. I go to a lot of concerts, and the stage hand is never seen unless the house is burning down (someone needs new guitar strings, etc.) Last night, the stage hand was used as the band's personal bartender; bringing them out drinks every song. Why in the world do you need a 5-minute-long keytar solo? The synthesizer was way too loud, and the jamming was just too much. I love listening to Blues Traveler, but last night failed.

  • great performance

John Popper and the rest of the band are amazing musicians!

  • Distracted by the Distractions

by Gayracer on 9/12/15Irving Plaza - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

The opening act, Matt Jaffe & the Distractions blew me away. This energetic, frenetic, kinetic front man was a whirling dervish little imp. His song writing, vocal performance, and all over musicianship will lead him a long way in this business. Sometime soon others will clamor to open for them. Oh, I couldn't stay for Blues Travelers, as a sick companion had to be taken home. But I've seen them live before, so I know what I missed- dang it. Makes me a little sad I missed them. It would have been, I'm sure, the most perfect night in my music-going experience.

Great show!! The sound was great and the band did a great job mixing hits and new songs in together.

  • not the same blues traveler

by bigbluepony on 8/30/15U.S. Cellular Stage at the Bijou Theatre - KnoxvilleRating: 1 out of 5

band was 30 minutes late on stage, I don't know how to describe the portion of the show I stayed for, horrific, horrible, way too loud couldn't understand the words, due to the noise.

  • What I should have expected...

by joegoseeyonder on 8/26/15U.S. Cellular Stage at the Bijou Theatre - KnoxvilleRating: 2 out of 5

Where to start? had front row tickets yet still disappointed. Of course the indulgent drinking as if it was a fad, done for attention. anytime there was a solo the uninvolved band members turned their backs and took a lame break. the keyboardist played his silly guitar synthesizer as if it took some special talent and wasn't auto tuned trying to look like slash while playing a child toy. and the lead guitarist was good but too over the top with the theatrics again trying to overexcite the crowd with a bunch of hairband antics. I go to 10+ concerts annually and never do the members of the band turn their back to the crowd and take punch - out break. we were all watching as they did everything but nap or play with their cell phone. Popper still has a talent but is so washed up it was embarrassing to watch. The poor drummer was the only true musician by my point of view. I will never make this mistake again. The nineteen ninety's are over and so is that band. they will likely be playing for drinks in the future. If I had a dive bar I would book them.

  • Blues nah

by omgnicknamedebugsucks on 8/26/15U.S. Cellular Stage at the Bijou Theatre - KnoxvilleRating: 1 out of 5

Great venue, very talented musicians. I wasn't let down by the quality of their songs, however I was let down by the number of SOLOS these great musicians performed. I mean seriously, I love bass, but TWO solos?! I like guitar and keyboards that sound like guitars doing a solo isn't what I paid to see the band for... play songs, remember the songs that made you famous right?

  • Great jams

by Tominknox on 8/26/15U.S. Cellular Stage at the Bijou Theatre - KnoxvilleRating: 4 out of 5

We enjoyed BT but the vocal audio could have been much better. We loved the music but John is hard to understand because of the way he sings or maybe the mic angle or EQ level. I would have liked to hear more from older stuff from 20 years ago but I understand an artist promoting recent material. We did enjoy the show and all of the great musicians. I just wish we could have understood the lyrics.

  • Still sound great!

by DrewMan71 on 8/26/15U.S. Cellular Stage at the Bijou Theatre - KnoxvilleRating: 5 out of 5

What an smazing group of musicians! Good energy, tight sound, and nice set list. Would have liked to have heard Mountains and Stand, but their covers of Rafiohead and the Charlie Daniels Bsnd made up for it!

  • Blues Traveler Rocked K-town!

by BluesmanEL1 on 8/26/15U.S. Cellular Stage at the Bijou Theatre - KnoxvilleRating: 4 out of 5

Enjoyed the show and even though came late and they started late- that all worked out. They were all featured throughout and John Popper was in rare form. Not sure of all the various drinks he was drinking on stage- but didn't seem to "Slow him down"! Better show than the Foothills Fall Festival in 2014- come on back fellas!

  • Blues Traveler and Lawrence were great!!

    by Stephy5454 on 8/10/15STAGE AE - PittsburghRating: 4 out of 5

Blues Traveler is amazingly talented and I was so impressed with a newer band called Lawrence! Would definitely see both bands again!!!

by Stlrmedic on 8/4/15STAGE AE - PittsburghRating: 5 out of 5

Amazing show. Stage AE was great as it was my first show there. Band sounded great and great cover bands. Had a lot of fun!! Did not particularly approve of the folks smoking pot in the audience.

  • WoW

by doctorspeller on 8/3/15STAGE AE - PittsburghRating: 4 out of 5

Just refreshing to be able to listen to great music in a venue like Stage AE. Not only was Blues Traveler outstanding - it's always amazing to hear him play that harmonica - but we were introduced to Lawerence who was an incredible surprise.

  • I have seen them play much better before

by Mbros on 7/27/15Resorts Atlantic City - Atlantic CityRating: 2 out of 5

The band seemed a little tired. John had mentioned that he had only 2 hours sleep. This showed in their performance. They played a few songs and then just jammed for what felt like forever. They did play some off the new album and of course Run Around and Hook which got the audience up and dancing. There were multiple bass solos and drum solos. I think they could have done a few more of their popular songs instead of all the jamming. It may have been because John needed to rest his voice during that time. I shouldn't expect them to sound the same as they did in the 90's. I guess we all get old.
