About

Blue Öyster Cult is an American rock band formed in New York in 1967. The group is well known for three songs: The 1976 single "(Don't Fear) The Reaper" from the album Agents of Fortune, the 1981 single "Burnin' for You" from the album Fire of Unknown Origin, and "Godzilla" (1977) from Spectres . The band is a pioneer in heavy metal music both for its hard-edged musical assault and its use of sci-fi and occult imagery.

I've been a cult fan forever and have seen them a number of times. This was the least favorite of my experiences. Seemed that total stage time was about 80 minutes I was expecting more. Music was good overall.

  • They were as good as they have ever been.

I have seen BOC 20 times in my life and they still soung as good as the first time I saw them in RI back in 1979.

  • Great show as usual from BOC!!!

    by star1500 on 3/8/10Showcase Live - FoxboroRating: 5 out of 5

Excellent show, wish the sound was a little louder. Missed not hearing "Rock & Roll", they usually play as one of their encore songs, maybe next time! Venue is good.

  • BOC is still at the top of their game

If your looking for a band that sounds as good as they did 30 years ago, Blue Oyster Cult is the band. Unlike most of their era BOC can still bring it. The most under-rated, under-appreciated band in the history of rock music proves every night they take the stage that you can get better with age. When they come to a city near you don't miss the opportunity to see one of the best live acts over the last 35 years. Great musicians playing great songs at a high level. Money well spent.

band sounded great considering the venue. musically they've still got it. the sound was very good thanks to a very talented sound man, although cities on flame would of been the ultimate encore. didn't catch the name of the opening act but I thought they were excellent. however the worst part was the venue. showcase live in foxboro has I think the worst set up for seeing a band. they have tables right in front of the stage and you stand up in the back. every other bar in america and probably the whole world is the other way around. think about it from the bands point of view. do you want to look out and watch people eating there dinner or standing up and groovin with the music. although the bartenders uniforms were spectacular.

  • Blue Oyster Cult does a good show

by Anonymous on 3/7/10Showcase Live - FoxboroRating: 5 out of 5

This show was excellent. The food was good. Pricing was reasonable. The place was packed and hard to move through the crowd but it was worth it. I will be going back to see other shows.

  • BOC in Foxboro

by TheBOCBeast on 3/7/10Showcase Live - FoxboroRating: 4 out of 5

Overall, a worthwhile experience. Didn't like the venue too much, but it was a small room for a more intimate experience. Why was Danny Miranda a last minute player subsitution? Where's Alan Lanier? Nice rendition of Last Days of May, Black Blade could use some more practice before playing. One encore? It was an early nite for Eric and Buck . . .

  • Another great night with B.O.C.

by zenagain on 3/7/10Showcase Live - FoxboroRating: 5 out of 5

What can you say? They have been around for 40 years and still kick ass every time. Big surprise last night though with the re appearance of Danny Miranda. He was a bass player with boc several years ago and played tonight (in the absence of Richie Castellano who is touring europe and doing a video). However Danny did not play bass but played keyboards and guitar very nicely. All in all the band was great as usual and the sold out crowd was very into it.

  • B O C Rocked it !!!!

by joeinmass on 3/7/10Showcase Live - FoxboroRating: 5 out of 5

AWESOME SHOW I would return to see them anytime any day

  • by Charlze on 3/7/10Showcase Live - FoxboroRating: 3 out of 5

No seating was left when I arrived at 6:45 p.m. This made for an uncomfortable night, standing in a crowd by the bar. The set list and line up was the same as the last time I saw them. There are so many classics that I've never heard them play live - Nosferatu, I Love The Night, etc. While it was a good show, it could have been a lot better. BOC seems to just be going through the motions, rather than playing from the heart.

  • BOC at Croc Rock- Allentown PA. 3/5/10

    by 262Pilot on 3/6/10Crocodile Rock - AllentownRating: 3 out of 5

Buck and Rudy always rock but it this was an unusual BOC show. Eric seemed less animated than usual, probably because he was just getting over being sick...and with Danny Miranda on keys because Richie is in Japan, it just confirmed what I already knew...Richie is a super talented musician, has a great stage presence with tons of energy at every show and he has become an integral part of this chapter of BOC history...without him, it was pretty plain...and in my opinion, they had to dumb down the setlist because he wasn't there. Not complaining, I love BOC, have seen them many times and will continue to do so as long as they continue to play!

  • B.O.C. Rocked!

by Klubkid on 10/28/09Emerald Queen Casino - TacomaRating: 4 out of 5

Blue Oyster Cult was a great show, and I definitely got to see some great musicianship among the band members! It was also a real treat to see the bass player, Rudy, from Quiet Riot and old Ozzie days! I had no idea how talented Rudy is. Buck was awesome on guitar, and I feel he doesn't get enough recognition for his style of playing. Everyone in the band deserves a great kudos! This was my 3rd time seeing this band at the Emerald Queen Casino in Fife, Washington.

  • B.O.C. is always awesome in concert!

by GentlemanB on 10/27/09Emerald Queen Casino - TacomaRating: 5 out of 5

This October 24th, of 2009, Blue Oyster Cult concert was the ninth B.O.C. concert that I have attended, and my second at the Emerald Queen Casino (I also attended the 2008 BOC concert at the Emerald Queen) Almost everything about a B.O.C. concert is always great. In fact my only complaint about this Oct.'09 concert at the Emerald Queen is that they had the bass/low-frequency turned up way too much, which whenever the bass player got to jammin' hard, which was often, the audience was subjected to very loud and very distorted low frequency noise, which significantly interfered with the overall sound of the music. Fortunately this was an intermittent problem, only occurring something like 10 or 20 percent of the time (which was still too much of the time! was annoying) I even pointed the problem out to a person at the sound mixing board, and he told me that he knew the bass was over-boosted, and he said that he thought that the bass actually had blown a speaker so he couldn't stop it from sounding bad, though it certainly would have sounded less bad had he reduced the level of bass going to that particular speaker. Other than that technical difficulty, that they did not bother to minimalize (who's fault? the band or the venue? sound problems aren't very noticeable to the band while they play, so...), at the cost of sound quality, it was a super concert--B.O.C., to sum it up, is simply a fantastic concert band, with a great sound and some creative and artistic songs and performing. Really top notch music and performing.
