About

Blue Öyster Cult is an American rock band formed in New York in 1967. The group is well known for three songs: The 1976 single "(Don't Fear) The Reaper" from the album Agents of Fortune, the 1981 single "Burnin' for You" from the album Fire of Unknown Origin, and "Godzilla" (1977) from Spectres . The band is a pioneer in heavy metal music both for its hard-edged musical assault and its use of sci-fi and occult imagery.

  • BOC

by penninHD on 5/17/10Morongo Casino Resort and Spa - CabazonRating: 3 out of 5

Overall BOC was good. However, we aren't young and doing substance anymore so the long intervals of the instruments going on and on with in one song get mundane. I was disappointed in the camera and big screen shots. As an older crowd our eyes are not what they used to be and often look to the big screens; when the solos came into play they didn't show or showed a very short clip of the solo strumming. It seems like someone else took over at the end. They knew the songs and new when to change the view for which person had a major role or at least showed more of the other band members.

  • BOC @ Morango

by blonde92562 on 5/17/10Morongo Casino Resort and Spa - CabazonRating: 3 out of 5

The boys played like the long time champs they are, fabulous, tight, passionate about their music and unforgettable. Venue wasn't appropriate though, concrete floors and tent walls do not give good acoustics in any way...so of course they turn the volume up to compensate for it. Understandable that Morongo is a big facility, but I believe we walked close to a mile from our car to the venue. I don't think I'll be back to Morongo for a concert.

  • so-so

by keygoods on 5/17/10Morongo Casino Resort and Spa - CabazonRating: 3 out of 5

Was just so-so. Liked the hits alot but the other tunes they played are best suited for the small handful of their hardcore fans that were there.

  • Rocking Event

by Bill91505 on 5/16/10Morongo Casino Resort and Spa - CabazonRating: 5 out of 5

This was an EXELLENT show. The Venue was great, and they put on a wondercul show. It had been years since I have seen them LIVE in concert, and it was well worth every penny I spent to go see them

  • by Rockstar444 on 5/16/10Morongo Casino Resort and Spa - CabazonRating: 3 out of 5

Venue was lame, chairs were brutal at the best, should not be used in any concert period. BOC played only one decent song out of the first 7. Not something I would recommend...

  • Blue Oyster Cult or Mark & Brian??

by ashkon on 5/16/10Morongo Casino Resort and Spa - CabazonRating: 1 out of 5

The ticket that I had purchased did not say anything about Mark & Brian, and we were expecting to see Blue Oyster Cult playing our favorites. But instead we had to endure a rated R version of Mark & Brian on stage. I had my 10 year old son with me, and needless to say we had to leave the show so he wouldn't be exposed to all the adult content language, and entertainment. Next time please let your customers know what to expect, or may be start rating your show like movies.

  • Blue Oyster Cult brought it!

by EtherealOne on 5/16/10Morongo Casino Resort and Spa - CabazonRating: 4 out of 5

BOC opened with a good, fast number and kept the show rocking until the very end, which came too soon. Songs ranged from their first album through The Revolution By Night. A few of the songs went into extended jams. Eric & Buck sang and played well. Sarzo was given his moment up front and cut loose with some real good soloing. Radino didn't have as much time but his solo proved he won't be replaced anytime soon. Castellano traded tasty solos with Buck and with his keyboard and backup vocal duties provides the extra dimension required for many songs. Venue and other act info - The venue was located inside a very large tent structure; well ventilated and temperature controlled. The seats were functional and that's as kind as I can get. They were sized for a smaller person and if you were broad-shouldered and/or wide, the seats became akin to an airline seat. They were attached to each other with tie wraps, so there was no adjusting them. While it's my fault for being wider than I should, I can't do much about my shoulders. The venue was dressed up for Mark and Brian more so than BOC. Walking through the casino/venue I had the impression that Mark and Brian were the headliners and BOC had the lesser billing. I apologize for the incomplete set list, but I believe what's present is accurate.

  • BOC...not good at Morongo

by MandBFan on 5/16/10Morongo Casino Resort and Spa - CabazonRating: 1 out of 5

We attended for the first 3 songs thinking they might get the audio adjusted, but left. A lot of distortion.

  • Good concert for $s; Seating a bit crowded

by Rockzilla on 5/16/10Morongo Casino Resort and Spa - CabazonRating: 4 out of 5

Considering the $25 ticket price this was a great concert; I've seen far worse concerts for 3x the price. BOC is one of the greatest live bands to see in my opinion; really liked their performance of "Then Came The Last Days of May" and "(Don't Fear) The Reaper". It's evident these guys really enjoy playing musica dn putting on a show. Saw Rudy Sarzo for the first time with BOC, who is a great bassist! The tied together seating made it a bit uncomfortable; fortunately, there was enough open seating to spread out a bit. Crowd was great with good energy and a limited number of idiots. Recommended.

It was my first time seeing Blue Oyster Cult. I had a great time and found them to still be very talented. There were alot of hard core fans there as well.

  • Blue Oyster Cult Still Rocks!

by JBJR37 on 5/16/10Morongo Casino Resort and Spa - CabazonRating: 5 out of 5

I can still remember my first B.O.C. concert 30 years ago. The concert last night at Morongo was just as good. These guys are timeless. It is a shame that after so many years of creating music, there is only 90 minutes to jamb in all of the favorites. I still would have liked to hear something form "Heaven Forbid' and 'The Curse of the Hidden Mirror', just to name a few. The Morongo venue was pretty good as well. We may go see more concerts there ine the future.

  • Drummer constitutes a band name "Foghat"?

    by Reaper12 on 5/6/10Coachman Park - ClearwaterRating: 3 out of 5

Blue Oyster Cult was as usual awesome - always a pleasure to watch -- on the other hand a original drummer hardly should consitute carrying name of Foghat -- yes, it is buyer beware these days but it would be beneficial if the actual lineup of the band was announced with the show so it would determine the extent to which the actual band origins could be better determined...

  • ALL ABOUT FOGHAT
